    Great pod ep guys. With the pen call, I think it’s a pen based on the rules. The rules are “If a player commits an offence warranting a direct free kick in their own defensive penalty area, a penalty kick will be awarded”. With regards to the offence, (Anguissa’s) raised-leg makes Physical Contact with Dumfries’ leg, so it was deemed a DIRECT FREE KICK offence, it happened in the box hence it was a penalty. What I think though is it needs to be made clear if you “graze” an opponent on the shins in the process of shielding the ball, with not much force, should that be considered a foul? I don’t think so. But nowhere does the rules mention force, or grazing/ level of contact or anything like that (or if anyone knows of it, please correct me!) So based on the rules, it’s a foul no matter how soft. I think FIFA should revisit the rules because it’s a contact sport and these soft penalties are ruining the game to some extent. I would have been mad if we conceded this type of penalty, but at the same time I recognise the rules are as they are, and I wouldn’t complain like all the fans from the other teams are complaining now.

      Yeah I think it was Mariani deciding was the impact of Anguissa hitting Dumfries's shin hard enough and his decision was it was. I think Anguissa's mistake was he went to the challenge way too late with his studs up (even if the studs didn't exactly hit Dumfries' leg). I agree they could just play on with these kind of challenges, interpretations are hard to make since players are simulating / exaggerating the contacts in the penalty area so much. Watch the Politano incident in Empoli-Napoli which was even more ridiculous of a penalty call two weeks ago.

      @@InterJectionsPodcast well said! Players these days are experts and falling upon contact and it might not look like an obvious dive. It’s a really difficult job for the refs to determine if the contact is just a soft graze or more than that.

    Personally would like to see a midfield of lcm-mhiki cdm-barella rcm-frattesi start against Arsenal. Hakan and Zieli to come on as super subs second half. Taremi to start over Thuram or Lauti as well. Also we short on options to sub on for Dimarco/Dumfries, might need to use Mike Aidoo

    The irony that your one positive point in the entire podcast is completely wrong, and shows how much you guys know about football... Zielinski- good midfielder that he is- was absolutely useless as a CDM, and gave no protection to the defence whatsoever! Your opinion of his performance is based entirely on his penalties, not on the job he was supposed to be doing... Typical comments from the arse from Australia- complaining that we have no youth, then referring to the promising primevera player on our bench as a prick... what a complete tool!!

  • @m6adam

    What you've said at 21:25 is so true. I really like Inzaghi, but that might be the only thing he does that pisses me off. Trust your fking players and stop subbing off players on a yellow. His subs are poor too. Always so predictable and late. I think that if Pavard stayed on, we would have won that 4-2. The moment Bisseck and Frattesi came on, we lost all control. Sommer has been very sus recently, he just watches the ball go past him. Inzaghi has to start playing some youngsters. Great pod, as always guys, appreciate it.

  • @Miros988
    @Miros988 17 днів тому

    This is getting out of hand, it seems that not only age is catching with Sommer, Acerbi, Miki etc., but we are also witnessing two factors: both Lautaro and S. Inzaghi are struggling to make that final leap in quality. For Lau, he does seem slower at everything compared to last season when he was instrumental for us in pressing, aside from obvious goal contribution. What is worrying me is evident lack of motivation and 'grinta' of our players, and surprisingly evident lack of organization and structure on the pitch. Vlahovic's goal made us look like we changed the coach three days before the match. Moreover, we were caught on the counter to concede the 3rd goal when leading 4-2 in final 20 minutes. Its a derby, we were leading 4-2, and yet we were acting like we were trailing by that much. Its completely strange that such well-oiled and experienced team like Inter, who is arguably the best team in Italy for the last 5 years, was playing in such naive and disorganized manner. These recurring mistakes are no fluke, and S. Inzaghi needs to wake up, and shake things up. If we look unmotivated, sometimes arrogant, and disorganized on the field, the responsibility must fall on the coach, as was his credit last season when we were playing fantastic football until February. Finally, the blame must be put also on new owners for failing to provide investments to upgrade the team. Its laughable to think that Marotta and Inzaghi do not see the obvious positions that need to be improved. Inter can only be great in ideal conditions, with no injuries to key players. Finally, no disrespect to Juve and their spirit, but they were playing without their only world class player in Bremer, and their best mid in Koop, despite him still finding his feet in Turin. They lined up a team that resembles a typical Fiorentina squad, and introduced young talents, some of them unfairly critized such as Yildiz, and still managed to recover 2-goal deficit thanks to our naive and lackluster approach. They have good talents, interesting potential, new and very talented coach, but team like ours should be winning this type of fixture, despite being a derby, based on our experience and quality.

  • @gabr131s
    @gabr131s 17 днів тому

    Also I was disappointed we didn’t use primavera players against young boys, at least as subs. (Berenbruch, Topalovic, Mike Aidoo). The reason I think we should use them in champions league fixtures is to keep our main central midfielders / Dumfries fresh for the big Serie A game (Juve). Also, look at Barcelona; they beat Madrid 4-0 and they had on a 17 winger (Yamal), a 17 year old centre back (Pau Cubarsí), all the central mids are 21 year olds (pedri, Marc Casadó & Fermín López). Yet we are scared (inzaghi is) to give 1 minute to a player under 24 years of age. It’s starting to really piss me off!! We need to do better and trust in younger players. If we played Barca now we will get run off the pitch due to the simple fact their players are younger and faster. Same should be done for the Arsenal game (prior to Napoli). At least for the last 10 to 15 minutes rotate them in. Keep in mind Juve, Atalanta and Milan have the U23 team playing regularly in Serie C that they can pull players from, we desperately need to set up our U23 team as well.

  • @gabr131s

    This pod sums up how although there is a lot of good in our squad, we are also in desperate need of reinforcements in the right areas. A new centre back like Tah, a new speedy energetic striker (better than Correa or Arnautovic), a young wingback to give another option than Dumfries/Darmian. I disagree about Zielinski as regista being the right choice. I think Barella should have started there, and Zielinski as mezzala. I think Barella is our best choice as backup regista overall

    Also, the only thing that gives me hope is that we are in 2nd, and Napoli's next 5 or 6 matches are difficult: Milan, Atalanta, Inter, Roma, Torino, Lazio. If they get out of that without dropping points, they deserve the title.

  • @timidstein888
    @timidstein888 17 днів тому

    A very frustrating game. I agree on Lautaro. I genuinely think he's a great striker (when he's in form), but he really is a 'B' at almost all striker attributes other than maybe his pressing. As for the bench, I do think Frattesi is a spark, and I think Buchannan can possibly be a spark if he can get in good form. I guess you could say the same for Correa, though, and look how that has turned out haha

Especially that clown of a so called Inter fan, Jay, who slates Martinez, Barella and Sonmer, and refers to the rest of our squad, as shitsticks, or other derogatory names, whilst harping on about how good AC Milan are?!?!? I've said before, we have had years of the banter era, years of world class talent coming in without winning anything under Moratti, and yet now we've been winning for 4 seasons straight, they never do anything but complain! We have a manager who has to operate on an absolute shoestring of a budget, and yet he has won us a Scudetto, 2 Coppa Italia, 3 SuperCoppa, and has got us to a Champions league final! On top of that, we play some of the best football I have seen in 35 years of supporting the club!! Prior to that, we won a Scudetto under Conte, so if you're not gonna enjoy times like these, you might as well stick to cricket, American football or whatever!!

    Big up guys, good points made from everyone. For me, I think Frattesi deserves a bit more credit. Yes he is more 1 dimensional in that he is more direct style of midfielder, but his touches and passes were better. I mean he got the assist for the lautaro goal, and made runs that could have led to a goal if Thuram found him. Barella did well as the regista and Mkhi also dropped in more as a second pivot and he did well too. With this midfield 3 we might see Mkhi/Barella being more defensive with Frattesi allowed more attacking freedom. I also think Correa did alright as a left midfielder when subbed on, I think Taremi would have been good to sub on for Thuram at some point but yeh probably being saved for Champions league. Agree with you guys about Dumfries, he brings more attacking threat than Darmian. Maybe inzaghi is trying to get as much as possible out of Darmian to save Dumfries overall for the second part of the season? For Young Boys game I want to see Taremi / Arnie as well, and as much rotation as possible. Unfortunately Palacios can’t even play because he isn’t in the CL squad, but good news is Inzaghi is including 3 primavera players: recently signed young talent Luka Topalović, full-back Mike Aidoo (19) and midfielder Thomas Berenbruch. I hope they feature and get minutes

    • @InterJectionsPodcast
      @InterJectionsPodcast 9 днів тому

      Thanks for the comment! (Mikko here) Frattesi: yeah he has improved and has had some better games in terms of possessional play, and the goals will always be there. Barella: He's great, can be used in many roles, but getting Hakan back is so important to free Barella to be truly himself. Dumfries/Darmian: Yeah let's hope we can get more out of Dumfries in the second part of the season. Youngsters: I doubt they'll see minutes for Inzaghi this season.

    • @gabr131s
      @gabr131s 2 дні тому

      @ hey Mikko. Thanks for all your replies. 1 more thing. I would like to see if inter can use a midfield with Barella in RCM, Hakan in CDM, and Frattesi in LCM. I think Frattesi could do well in that role, cutting in field to his right foot and being more attacking that Mkhi has been. With regards to youngsters, yes you are correct. I hope in the future inter as a club can integrate youth players more often into the first team, and that we create a U23 team to go into Serie C, like our rivals have done. Cheers!

    Nice pod guys! Great points from everyone about pros and cons of those options. If money weren’t an issue I would definitely sign Bijol out of those options, because of his younger age, position he plays and acerbi or de Vrij likely to leave. What do you guys think of Nico Paz as a 4th striker option? I think he could be an interesting option, again if money weren’t an issue (but maybe he wouldn’t be too expensive to buy, given he is still young/ inexperienced). I see him as a player with great potential who could play as second striker or CAM if we switch to a 3-4-1-2 during the game. Fabbian is another player who may take the mhiki spot next year, but only if he improves enough this year, let’s see. What about saving Cassedei and buying him back from Chelsea? Haha Haha you guys are too negative about TJ! I think he looked alright as a winger in the limited time he came on (bringing something different, being more attacking, being a dribbler and taking on his man). Just hope his broken leg recover has gone well and that he can get to his best level and get more minutes for us. With Frattesi, I don’t know why interisti undervalue him so much. He scored 6 and assisted 3 in the league last year, scored 1 and assisted 2 in champions league. It’s pretty amazing given he is a rotation player who got limited minutes. He is a very useful player who in my opinion has made our squad much stronger. I wouldn’t consider selling him in general at all!

      Thanks for the comment! Yeah there are lots of avenues for us in the transfer markets coming ahead. Let's see what Marotta & co will cook for us. TJ comes back at the right time as the schedule gets tougher and tougher, probably going to be useful at some point. Yeah Frattesi has been quite effective, would need some good money to make sense for Inter to sell him and at the same time would require a plan to replace him with a cheaper player to make any sense of the whole thing.

      @@InterJectionsPodcast 100%! Fingers crossed Marotta and co can cook well for the inter squad. Yes TJ will be needed so fingers crossed he gets to full fitness! In my opinion Frattesi is someone to develop as a future starter and star for this inter squad. I want him to develop into a future “bandiera” of the squad, along with barella, bastoni and dimarco. But I’m patient and need to give him time to continue to develop. For me it would be a mistake letting him go.

    Great episode, as always. It seems that we are not as determined and focused as last year on Serie A spreading, our ambitions on other competitions, as well as heavily rotating the squad. We certainly lack cohesive protection to our defense, as strikers and midfielders are generating insufficient defensive cover. Finally, we are also making many unforced errors, particularly our defenders (including Sommer in Genoa), and are being heavily penalized for almost any mistake. Maybe I am wrong, but I got the feeling we are showing arrogance on the pitch, playing with too much confidence, almost underestimating our rivals. Inzaghi grew a great deal over the years as Inter manager, but he is new to defending the title. I hope the team will, with Inzaghi, improve and show different approach. That is the main problem as far as I am concerned, as we only played poorly in the derby.

      Thanks! I hope it's not about Serie A vs CL. Arrogance or any uncharacteristic errors need to be removed. Title defence will be a tough task but if anyone, this Inter can do it out of all these teams in the last 5 Scudetto winners.

    Sup lads. Great to see that we won despite playing pretty bad, and 2 of our 3 main rivals slipped up this weekend! But I agree about our defence looking shaky. I think if we had $20 mil to spend + salary, definitely Bijol or a similar young centre back would be the player to go for. He and Acerbi would fight for the Sweeper spot. Pavard/Bisseck still fight for RCB, and Acerbi could switch for LCB when Bastoni needs resting. Palacios will have to go out on loan in January if inzaghi doesn’t trust to ever use him. On the positives definitely have to agree about Bastoni, he is so amazing for inter. Thuram had a world class game and we all love to see him perform like that. & yes Frattesi, I’m really glad we made the Frattesi signing. He just needs to improve getting the balance right between attack and also being an available option in the midfield!

    Great pod ep guys! My opinions on inter: 1. frattesi / zielinski should be in the starting 11 (with barella and chala) and not mhiki anymore. It looks like mhiki legs look tired and his shooting is no good anymore, he is not the player from last season, and he is being overplayed. Mhiki would be a great super sub though. 2. Bisseck could be the vice Chala and play CDM. He could be a beast there (better defensively than Asllani) and his ability to drive the ball could be really good there. Would offer something different to Asllani when brought on. But I doubt this one happens, as he is needed as the pavard RCB cover

      @@InterJectionsPodcast no worries and thanks for your reply too! It’s just a pitty frattesi has only been seen as rcm only and not lcm! I think barella always has been better in his rcm spot, but has to switch to the left if frattesi is on. Zielinski however yes will need more starts and to settle in to the team, got to give it time. The bisseck thing would be a nice alternative because for instance we are worried to play asllani and frattesi at the same time, but maybe that means we are overplaying chala and not giving him enough rest! Even pavard could be converted to makeshift cdm. If guardiola can do it with john stones I don’t see why inzaghi couldn’t do it with some other players and not just rely on asllani as the vice chala !

  • @gavunku
    @gavunku Місяць тому

    The situation with frattesi is a really weird one at inter. While he does play in the same right mezz'ala position, the role he has on the pitch is different on offense. Barella usually helps the defenders and calha in the early build up and later he either crosses from the sides or stays at the edge of the box to shoot from outside, he does make some runs once in a while but it is pretty rare. Meanwhile frattesi is often the man running in the spaces to receive a passa during the breaks and is always in the box with the attackers in later stages/set pieces. Which is more similar to what mikitahrian does on the pitch, even though he does it from the opposite side. The match against monza where frattesi and mikitahrian played together(very poorly, because imo they were stamping on each other's feet) is a good example. The thing is that although frattesi and barella can play together neither is at their best on the left side, so i really do not see a solution that sees him getting a lot of minutes this year, more than last season, but not by much.

    Nice points as always boys. Food for thought: what about, say if Augusto needed to be subbed off to save his legs, Mhikitarian goes as the left wing? Zielinski goes into the LCM spot. Also, frattesi is someone who could be a makeshift RW if needed too Also, we should never ever forget 2 years ago how we had a title battle with them, they just pipped us to the title and all the fans laughed in our face. Also, on our backup CMs, they are SHIT. Im thankful for Frattesis goals last season, but what does he offer other than that? When he's starting, it feels like we play with 10 men, hes invisble. Dont have much to say on ASSlani. He will never be good enough for Inter level. Sorry for writing so much, i have no one else to rant to 😂 this draw is all on Inzaghi. It's been a while since Inzaghi managed a match this poorly. I think most of his choices, particularly in-game changes, were influenced by mid-week CL game with City. Its obvious that Inter will enhance focus on the competition, but I hope we will not treat Seria A like this in the coming months. Inter have once again decent chance of winning the Scudetto, despite Juve's and Milan's investments, and Conte's Napoli. That being said, if we treat Seria A this year like we did CL last year (deciding match with Real Sociead at home), I'm afraid of the same outcome.

    Great pod guys. I completely agree about inzaghi’s lack of flexibility, for instance he could have put on bisseck as the LCB (if he doesn’t want to integrate Palacios yet), take out Dimarco to rest him and put Augusto in the LW position. Now Dimarco is injured for the city fixture, great.. Or Asllani being pidgin-holed as a CDM only. Even for me, I wish Frattesi was tried as the LCM, and Barella staying as the RCM. I honestly think that is something that should be explored. I don’t think Barella is as effective when he shifts to the LCM on the rare occasion that they are both on the pitch at the same time, and I would like to see Frattesi moved to the left, there’s a chance he might do better there, but we never ever get to see it

    I have been your listener from the 1st episode. Personally, I think you are one of the best analysts of Inter, true fans with lack of classical biases and with very competent and objective analysis of the club, including its squad, market activity, and owners' strategies. The only thing I would like to bring are the statements of Inter's executives, during Steven's regime, that the club would not need to sell important players this summer. So, for me, Oaktree has no credit for this. Furthermore, the Zhangs only started selling core players after Covid, due to financial issues. So far, Oaktree has shown no intention of investing in a winning project, acting like they purchased Atalanta and buying hot prospects that are not ready probably for Bologna, let alone Inter. Having said that, they also interfere with the Marotta's transfer strategy. I fear not singing Ricardo Rodriguez will be Oaktree's biggest contribution to that aspect.
