Generator on RV won’t start
Переглядів 4914 днів тому
This generator is an Onan Emerald III GenSet. It would not start, originally, I suspected the batteries were low. I attempted to recondition them with new battery acid. They ended up needing 4 containers of battery acid. After I did that, I dropped one and cracked it. I decided to buy new ones even though only 1 had broke. The platform they rested on had rusted out very bad so I built a new one...
Restore old utility trailer

I bought the cheapest trailer of FB marketplace for $150 and restored it to sell it for a profit. How much do you think it is worth now? I spent about $300 on chains, new hitch, metal, bolts, gate latches, tire, wiring, lights, and marine-grade plywood. #tailer #welding #diyprojects #diy #restore #refurbished #refurbish #weld #welder #fixed #paint #painting #beforeandafter #beforeafter

Harbor Freight Flux 125 Welder in action #harborfreighttools #welder #harborfreight

This is the cheapest welder Harbor Freight sells. I’m not very good, it shows, the first 2 practice attempts, I joined 2 thin pieces of galvanized metal forming an ‘L’; it easily broke being brittle on stress test. #welding #welder #weld #welderup #diy #howto #savemoney

It worked out good, but for this winter, I’m testing a natural gas and diesel heater too.
How did ur wood stove work out for u just subbed u need some skirting on ur trailer it would be a lot warmer
Have you burnt down the countryside yet ?
Those welds won’t hold for long
Yea I’m trying to improve my welding skill :/
I love this guy! He is risking it all for that sweet sweet heat!😂 Bravo Brother!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
All i see is this guy catching his trailer on fire. Doesn't look safe at all.
Great video
You would be better off with a double barrel stove small
I think you’re right friend
Hi hows the stove performing? I thimk they recomend the flue to rise at least 3 feet. Great stuff
your the fkn man for posting this -live free or die tryn
Preach it brother!
Let’s all pitch in and get this guy a hack saw😂
Thanks wolf that’s very thoughtful !
Good job cuz!
Thanks cuzzilina
@@andycremeans 😂
Cuzzillina - that's hilarious 😜
It is not the welding machine. I have one and get welds that look like solid wire and gas. This is a good welder. He needs to learn our you manage the puddle as he welds. It should start with establishing the puddle, and slowly move it along. As with flux welding, "with slag you drag", your gun. He also has the wire way out to far. Should be 3/8" - 1/2" sticking out as you weld or you get a lot of bounce, and lack of control. Feed seems to stutter. Check roller friction on wire feeder to be sure there is good contact, and no slipping of wire through rollers. With practice you will due well. Don't be afraid to run your feed 4 - 6 setting for consistent feeding the weld puddle as you slowly drag the wire. If you are melting the metal frame too much, use short burst of a few seconds at a time.
Thanks for this, feed speed hit home
Trust me when I say I've never welded, but from what I know, that stickout was way too much. One day I'll break out my Titanium 125 and give it a shot.
Yep stick out too much and my passes were rushed and my wire feed speed too low. I’m sure there’s other failures too
Do not get discouraged. We all start somewhere.
Yes sir, thanks! I’m eager to improve and luckily can’t get much worse 😂
I really understand what you're trying to accomplish, but you would have gotten a smoother weld with a HF Titanium 125 flux core inverter welder (DC out put)it cost a little more but you could have returned it and got your money back after you finished your project, quite honestly i don't know why HF continues to sell the Chicago electric 125 , because its out dated technology, weights almost 50lbs and its AC out put the arc not as smooth as DC like the Titanium 125 that weighs around 17lb, I've had mine since it first came out bought it for $165 in 2019 also use good flux core wire like Lincoln electric NR211-MP and buy HF angle grinder costs around $20, very good and interesting video, and good with your future projects sir👍🧑🏭
I have the Harbor Freight Chicago Electric welder 90 amp and get great welds. Had it for several years. With wire feed it all comes in the technique.
Keep playing with it- you'll figure it out. Plenty of vids out there to give you pointers. A good weld has a number of characteristics, the most important being penetration. Without penetration, weld is no good, no matter how "good" it looks on the surface.
The HF Titanium 125 flux core welder probably would have been a better choice 🤔
Thank you and I’ll take that good advise. I’ve got work coming up that’ll get me back in the mask. My goal is to master this cheap one before upgrading. “If you dodge a wrench you can dodge a ball.”
Now you have an excuse to get an angle grinder with some cutting disks and a wire wheel and redo that weld. Not safe bro. It looked it didn't have much penetration..
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thank you sir I agree you are correct
Hey friend I would love to give you some pointers. A handheld face shield shouldn't be used when you are welding. I see you bought a welding hood. You could adjust the knobs on the hood and once you tilt your head down you should be able to see the arc of the weld once you start welding. Also, try turning down the wire feed speed so that way you can have a nice weld bead. If it helps with the welding hood try with an auto shading hood those things are the best to have. I hoped this helps. I'd probably want to get a Chicago Electric Flux 125 someday and try one out myself.
I feel like ambidextrous single handed welding is mark of true perfect and dual-welding is the stuff of legend
Hey @griffinwelding7987 do you think this welder could work for welding a piece of new sheet metal into a rusted mower deck hole?
Why did you ditch the helmet for the handheld mask? Using two hands helps keep it steady and consistent.
I feel like ambidextrous single handed welding is mark of true perfect and dual-welding is the stuff of legend
The roof looks beautiful now! I had a question for you. I've got a 1991 Pace Arrow and it has the same roof as yours. I read that you're not supposed to put any kind of coating over that fiberglass roof. Were you aware of that? Is the stuff you used okay to put on top of that roof? I sure would like to do it if so!
Thanks @HotVidMan, I was not aware and from my research, this type of roof coating was the recommended approach from the local RV sales and service companies. It’s what they would have done if I wanted to pay their insane labor costs. After 6 months, it’s still holding strong but I’m not a professional and my RV has been stuck in its current location. Good luck with your decision and efforts!
HF for the win, learned on my neighbors Chicago welder. Then i got that titanium 200 though works beautifully for the price.
Thanks OG! It is much fun. Does that titanium need more than volts/amps than a standard house outlet?
Video spoof?
@@armedmariner ???
@@andycremeansthe Titanium Easy Flux 125 runs on a standard 120v outlet but the outlet should have a 20amp breaker if you turn the welder pass the 1/8” metal settings so you don’t keep tripping the outlet/breaker. It’s a great little welder. It’s has inverter tech that the Chicago 125 doesn’t have, which protects it from overheating.
@@Santaheckler these are all things I didn’t know. Firstly thanks second if I only do 5 second burns of welder holding trigger using power for 5 seconds and stop, can I do that on 15 amp breaker instead of 20? You say I need it on 20amp breaker I say even if I only use 5-seconds at a time?
You only just got a fire going with all that lighter fluid 🤣 hope you never get lost in the woods! Think you need to research how to make a fire first
scruff thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed, I guess you’ve not seen my UA-cam short on how to start a fire with wet kindling 🧐🤔

I just bought one similar for a 4 season bicycle camper I'm building. They're nice.Even if you had to bug out down a trail, carry it with you by the side handle with hot gloves and feed it sticks, you got heat.
Nice Nathan, I’d love to see some pics of the build!

Is there anything beer can't fix 🤔
I’ve yet to find anything but I’m not one who gives up easily; if it’s out there, I’ll find it! 😂😂 Thanks Tred, have a good day.
It would have been legendary if you cut to a shot of yourself in your knickers cause it was so hot.
This is a thing of beauty. A man of my caliber. My favorite part was the clamp-hammer. Brilliant. Although, the sawhorses were overkill. You had perfectly good cinder blocks right there.
Thanks - glad to know someone else thinks so too. Yea sometimes I get tunnel vision in my overkilling and miss the obvious cinder blocks 🧑🦯🧑🦯🧑🦯🧑🦯🧑🦯❤️
You've inspired me and I've fabricated a wall thimble using old brake rotors. I wish there was a way to send pictures.
Also, I'm curious, you wouldn't happen to have the plans still from the warlordhammer?

Put a damper in it .
Jack Frost are you being serious because I’ve often wondered if that could be done. Any ideas on how? There’s an ash tray underneath that kind of serves this purpose but let me know if you got any suggestions for how.
2 years now no fire .
Use cement board it's cheap
I am a Mason of 33 yrs. I have put in fireplaces and woodstoves, lol a few times. But this is the most RED neck set up I have ever seen. Lolol I really enjoyed it. Hope you don't have to waste your beer. Blessings 🙂👍
Ray!!!! 😂😂😂😂 this made me smile. Glad you enjoyed it. Sometimes we’ve just got to play the hand we’re delt, even if it’s a dumpy red neck hand😅😅😅
In your experience, what is minimal safe distance between stove and metal shield? I'm curious, because i have extreamely small place (7x5 ft, plywood), and with recomended clearence of 12 inches (with metal shield) - it's imposible. With any size of stove.
My heat shield is currently about 1 inch behind stove and about 2 inches to the wall. The wall isn’t heating up to any degree of concern.

Thanks for the zoology lesson Tim! Do you have any other helpful observations?

Good job cuz 👍 be careful tho in case that stuff gets too hot, hope it keeps you warm & ends up working good 🙏❤️
Yes ma’am cuz love you. ❤️
Can you do an update on your 10th /squalor wood stove set up thinking about doing the same thing. Thank you for the video
I’ve got 1 update video coming, the wall thimble is a must if you don’t want a structure fire.
You need a fresh air supply to stove.... if you do not do this, you're using your conditioned air to provide oxygen to the fire!
Yes sir I’ve got a steady stream of fresh air coming in directly through the non existing door.
I’ll keep watching if ur on ur knees this much☺️

Wtf is this? Did you get stuck or something? Are you digging just because? Where did the base course and the other stones come from? Do you have a rock quarry in the back of your rv?
If i had to guess, he is making a base for each wheel to keep it from sinking in the dirt when it rains. like a foundation for a house. 🤔
Yes I got stuck
This is how we sweep the dirt
Yessir!
Cinder block don't last forever.. Some times they do Last longer than roof glue
True Jeremy, funny you mention that on this particular video session because I had the block underneath my jack explode right in my face. I didn’t include that footage on this video.
It is a start. Good luck.
Another option is getting $50 in diesel and burning it down to the frame. That’s the direction a lot of my people and suggesting I go.
@@andycremeans you do what your heart tells you too do. A lot of people watching are unhappy and just want too destroy. Why would you burn something down that you will have too replace just fix what you got. It was free.

Smart move... Preserve...You can make it a lovely house ✌️
Okay you’re thinking preserve also? That’s how I’m leaning 🤔
@@andycremeans Helped some friends redo a vintage trailer like yours...It came out AMAZING. Now they have a beautiful home and no payments. Live your Dash.✌️
I surely wouldn't consider that free standing! Yikes! If the decking and lumber are in good shape, I'd put a supporting beam under the joists, then cut it free from the home to let it stand on its own. As for the home leaning, that's probably the deck pulling some, but also settling of the home piers. Maybe ring a local mobile home mover to have them come check your level and foundation... if it's something you want to keep and work on. Gotta have a good foundation. :) Also ask them about house tie downs / anchors. I didn't see any, but may have missed it. What a blessing for that half acre! We made our first little homestead from 0.4 acres and had plenty to keep us busy. You've got a great start there! -Sam
