The new Tohatsu/Mercury portables are amazing. I've got a 2023 20 hp and it is identical to the 9.9 hp with the exception of the computer. ( Both weighing in at just under 100#) They aren't cheap but well worth it. Thanks for the tips on the prop.

Nice rig. Perfect cavitation height, and perfect rpm for top speed.

25" 25hp tohatsu on a 1519 Duracraft running 38mph. Jack plate way up to get the cavitation just right. I haven't run any 4 strokes yet. I cant make the switch. #MIXEDGAS4LIFE

I have the 1860, with a 90 Yamaha 4 stroke and I love it. When it starts proposing I'll add half a tank of water to the front live well and it pretty much levels out nicely and I didn't have to buy anything for it, give it a try before you spend any money

i have a 1977 loweline [i believe hustler model] which weighs 385 per specs, do you think 25 or 30hp would be best

I have a 4 stroke Tohatsu and when I accelerate I am finding the steering (handle) to be quite hard to handle amd truly difficult. My arm end up hurting after a while. Any recommendations?

The kill switch cord is useless dangling there not attached to your wrist or other place on body. Hope you are not sliced up by prop in an unfortunate overboard incident

Going to pick up a 25 tohatsu i ordered for mine,it's a 1652 south fork rated for a 50,had a 30 merc on it and it would fly,hopefully it'll still do good.

This looks like my dream setup, but boy oh boy for such a simple setup a boat and motor like that gets pricey fast.

Good video I have a Yamaha f25 on a lowe roughneck 1860 and it does very well I get 23 mph by myself and 21 with 2 people if I run into a strong head wind it slow me down a little but I can fish and run all day on 3 gal of fuel I have 114 hrs on it so far I have really enjoyed it so far ,I will probably put another 75 to 100 hrs on it in the next 3months.

Now if I could only find one!

How on earth do I make my 1448 run that good. Exact same freaking motor and I can’t get it to plane or go over 15 mph

Thoughts on this motor a year later? I'm starting to research Merc, Yamaha and Suzuki 25 hp four stroke. I'm leaning towards this model. In reviews the one con I hear the most is the vibration in the handle.

Great vidya. Where should the prop be with respect to the bottom of the boat in order to pick up cooling water and push the boat? ot a side view with recommended angle? Is a 16/52 is the best size for fishing 2 people comfortably? Small lakes.

Perfect Video. Thats what I plan to buy. 1654 tracker with a 25 HP YAMAHA. I have research them all and I think this set up is best for fishing any lake with a children.

Hydrofoil is great to keep the bow down and plane fast. Putting on my new 21’ 25 hp Yamaha.

Hey man, you should really attach the kill cord. It's really dangerous if you get thrown off the boat.

I have to get more familiar with where the propeller suppose to meet the transom. My boat does have a jackplate also but I was wanting the best performance I can get while also able to go shallow

attach the kill cord to you not to itself, its there for a reason, to kill the engine if you go overboard.

I have a Tracker grizzly 1754. I just bought a 2021 Mercury 20hp efi motor. This is the first outboard ive ever owned. I was about to drill holes in the transom then decided to do more research. The dealer said i should permanently mount the motor so theres no chance of losing it. The cavitation plate is about 1/4" higher than the bottom of the boat. Do you think i should do some test runs first before i drill? I have to break it in 2hrs with no full throttle, just puttin' around. Then 8 hrs with very limited full throtttle to reach the 10hrs break in period.

Why does everyone talk about speed? Faster one goes the more damage is done when one hits something!

Just one side note: that 20hp Mercury is actually made by Tohatsu, as was the Nissan 20hp (no longer sold by Nissan). That Mercury looks and sounds exactly like my 2008 Nissan 20hp and I know from experience that parts are interchangeable.

If your looking at power to weight ratio, get a two-stroke. Had a G3 1756 SC deluxe, full front deck, three batteries, '80's model yamaha 25hp. Would do 23mph just me, 20mph with a another person. Hole shot was wonderful. Miss that boat.
