How to open Porsche 996/997/991 hood with a dead battery
Quick video showing how to open your Porsche hood/frunk with a dead battery. This should work on the 996, 997, and 991 cars. Make sure to try the release on your key if the in-car button doesn't work. Don't forget the hidden manual release under the fender.

Watch This Video Before Buying Cars From Copart's Salvage Auction! Beware of Crazy Hidden Damages!

I hope you guys watch this video before even putting a bid on a car in an online auction. There is nothing wrong with buying cars online at all, I love it and you can find great deals. I just want to open your eyes so you don't buy a money pit. There are a lot of scammers out there and its easy to hide things when selling things online, especially at auctions where things sell it a matter of se...

I watched many videos on this topic, as my car had been stored for 2 months. The best advice I received out of all the videos was yours - check key first just in case battery still works. It did work and I didnt need to go military tactics trying to start the car :) Thank you again.
Why does everyone showing this method NOT say after you connect the positive and negative leads you then have to turn the key in the ignition to on and hold it for upto 30 seconds? Nobody adds this important information 🤔
Will this work if my battery has been completely removed? Took it out for winter storage… then closed the frunk!
Yes. But!!!, if the battery cables are lying in the frunk touching each other or the positive cable connects to the body… you might cook something.
this does work. I connected the negative to the door clip and after around 6 hours it did finally work. when the alarm starts going off press the key fob to deactivate and everything should be fine from there. 2004 Boxster S Ann.
Thanks alot man. Saved me a big headache
Wronge fuel pump aftermarket
What you critically fail to mention is the use of the key (within in the remote control) IF you have KEY LESS entry. Using the short stumpy key is NOT easy to open the drivers door.
Just did this on my 2003 Boxster S using a Noco GB70 booster pack … remember to use the continuous 12V 'dead battery' mode not the jump start setting … works perfectly
Thanks my brother
Worked great, thanks.
Are you going to MMI?
I actually graduated from UTI around 7 years ago.
this helped me so much. mine is turning over but not starting also. I never checked the fuel pump
you didnt actually do it y fcking moron
Thanks for the key fob reminder.
Not all work like this. If you need a more simple solution here’s a link to how I fixed mine. ua-cam.com/video/WHf3mdcYBOw/v-deo.html
What would happen if there was no spark?
But what if there was a break in the line leading from the tank to the pump so it would only be pulling air
How to completely top down a 2008 porche boxer..
Thank you so much ! Brother !
this amp value is the battery amperage or just the load s amp ? tnx
The amp reading is of the load. The light bulb is drawing 1.9 amps from the battery.
Helpful, to the point without over explaining stuff or talking about the weather in whatever bf town he's from. Good video dude.
If you have a 996 turbo like me, this is only way to open hood and trunk. The turbo does not have emergency wires. Also, you absolutely need a 12V battery. Chargers / starters won’t work because it won’t detect anything and give you a 12v charge.
We buy from them from outside America and when the car arrives it is not the same as the pictures on the site they are cheating
Hey man, thank you so much. this video was clear and helpful and help me get my 98 running again after sitting over the winter
Thank you so much man. this video was very helpful. very well explained and easy to understand.
Life saver
Thanks dude hope this helps me with my GTD
Great information. Oh 😮 that AMG filled with mud. That is criminal. Scammers! Thank you!
I personally bought 2 370Z’s from iaai and I don’t think I’ll ever buy another car from an auction. The 2nd one was “fixed”by a young dude who scammed the fuck out of me airbags deployed and hid the damages by stitching up the dash with leather, driver curtain airbag was missing and the steering wheel was from an older model not only that it was in 2 accidents prior to arriving at the iaai yard. I had so many issues getting it to pass break and lamp inspection. After 3 weeks of owning the car and finding out all the issues the guy made up such a bullshit lie long story short ever since then I started to run VIN #’s
SCAMPART.....AVOID AT ALL COST.......JUNK.....JUNK......EXPENSIVE JUNK !!!!
Please contact Jonathan Stratton if you were ripped off by Copart Jonathan.Stratton@usdoj gov send him proof of payment and or complaint you have with Copart he is investigating poor quality of vehicles being sold to customers. cars are all pulled and scammed by car dealers then sent back to auction for resale as insurance cars
Most cars all go from Los Angeles. Don't BUY cars there.
WOW.....THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!
THIS HAPPENED TO ME COUPLE TIMES. NEVER BUY ON LINE AGAIN. LOST ABOUT 20.000. COPART IS A GAMBLE
I kind of disagree. Copart allows you to inspect a vehicle at certain times. If you blindly bid on a vehicle then yes it is a gamble. One part I also think is sort of a gamble is how you can only test transmissions and the drivetrain by putting the vehicle in gear and moving it slightly. There are no road tests and that parts to me is slightly a gamble too. But it can also be argued that you have to take in the fact of the overall condition of the vehicle (is it clean, does it look maintained, are the fluids normal looking and at proper levels) and the current damage of the car. Typically you won't have a bad engine in a car that has rear end body damage. But then again it could be a cover up to try and sell the car as rear damage when its real main damage is a blown engine. Always do your due diligence. And I'm not saying you didn't do enough, just trying to inform people before they make mistakes.
And then we have the dealership, the more cars that get salvaged and the more people that get scared of it the more the dealership sells, and then at the end the more people are in debt and are never going to get out of it
Insurance is in cahoots with Copart you crash your car and, It's still a good car and drives right but they turn around and Salvage it and make you lose instead of helping you and pay for the repairs
Once your car loses value and the shop wants too much money per hour to fix it that's when they Salvage it
To be honest most Americans Drive salvage cars, but they don't know it only because the insurance actually fix them
And the car was a 2017 Nissan with very low mileage and only had quarter panel damage, my grandparents paid out so much to the dealership and the insurance and at the end they walked away with nothing except another finance car and now they started over so now they owe another 30 grand, if the insurance was not such b******* they could have fixed the car for my grandparents and they would only owe 10K at this point
Don't hate on salvage cars they are the same, you don't understand them, salvage cars are just as good as the one you drive that your insurance repaired luckily they repaired it for you, my grandparents just lost a lot of money because the insurance decided to salvage the car instead of fixing it there goes 12 Grand down the drain
I don't hate on salvage card because I have rebuilt them and drive 2 rebuilt cars currently. I just want people to open their eyes when buying and buy logically. I don't see the point in a car with minor damage getting crushed when it can easily be repaired and driven. Salvage is just a word on a paper. If the same car has the same damage but it is not labelled salvage then what is the difference? Just a word on a title. People only dislike salvage / rebuilt cars because they buy them from people who hide damage and bad repairs. They read terrible stories online and every automotive blogging site says to stay away from salvage cars... I only want to earn people to do their due diligence before bidding. And I never blame copart for anything. Sometimes I might dislike them but they are just an intermediary. All research and inspection responsibility is ours as the buyer.
And of course some cars should be crushed and never repaired based on the extent of the damage. That's when you get hack job "mechanics" pieceing a car back together and dropping it onto an unsuspecting buyer. Or they will wash the title or just try and hide the fact it has been rebuilt until after it is sold.
I would not trust a German car from New York there is a lot of scantless people out there with those kind of cars, for all you know they already had it in their shop and change the engine and put it back on the auction, I have seen this happen myself you buy a car from New York and then you realize that the motor and transmission was changed and it's missing a lot of bolts
It's not necessarily copart's fault you have to be careful with Copart because they accept all kinds of sellers as far as I understand
I have a Ford F-150 2006 very nice truck I got it from Copart luckily it was not a Mickey Mouse when I say that I mean a setup truck for feiler, it's been running strong for the past five years going on six I have no complaints yes it's a salvage but it was half the price then going to the dealership
And I own a Subaru Outback 2012 Salvage as well running strong to this day it's been 4 years
Most of those German Mickey Mouse cars come from New York they have some scantless people up there
Great video ... Is there any free web can we check the vin#. Thanks
You can get some easy info sometimes if you simply Google the VIN. Usually you can't get too much info for free but vincheck.info can have some good info.
good info but this video keeps going to pop ups with share buttons..volume is almost too low to hear.
following a dozen cars on IAAI auctions and see nothing happen on five out of six of them. For almost two months, and I am not convinced these auctions are even real, they just want sign ups to membership and fishing for suckers..As far as I can see..Somebody with real expereince feel free to comment. Im not signing up for anything until I see more. Some real offers that actually sell..
They are real. Copart is a billion dollar company. I really like their business model but that's about it. The fees are ridiculous and without a dealers license you can't really bid on cars except public only auctions. To buy dealer cars you need to go through a 3rd party and that's even more fees. But it is all real. I've purchased probably 15 cars from copart. The Porsche in my recent video was from copart.
This doesn't happen to every car. It's just something that can happen. There are scumbags out there that hide damage well and a simple Google search of the VIN can uncover a pretty bad damage history.
I haven't used iaai but I have friends that use them exclusively. Some cars you may be watching and haven't sold yet might not have sale dates set yet or may have paperwork issues that need to be sorted out before they can be auctioned off.
@@theautoinfo7067 I will have a look at your video. I Signed on a free membership and selected a dozen cars Im qualified to work on and FINALLY after a month ONE Of them is available to bid on, the others are all not ready..And you are the only comment replying to my question which has been up for weeks. So..Im skeptical. Thanks for the note..
@@douglundy5755 I just haven't signed on to this channel in a long time. This video just shows some ways people cover up crazy damage on the auctions. Before bidding I would suggest inspecting the vehicle in person if you can. Also at least search the VIN and see if it shows up anywhere else. Another point, make sure before bidding you know what all the fees will be, shipping, etc.
Kim
looks to me that someone purchased the car ,cleaned the car and sent back to auction, Tell me i am wrong
I don't even remember what cars were in this video at this point but that happens a lot too. Buy cheap, cover up some issues, throw it back in there to dump it on someone else.
Helpful video thank you very much, I have an mk2 caddy I'm about to try it on. It's good to know you can do them all at once!
Let me know how it goes, Im also tryng to get my caddy running and its tough. Might be my start stop solenoid
@@rajgill7576 bleeding was the issue. The fitting on my fuel filter was wrong and was letting air in. I got a replacement and then bled the system. I did this by first filling the fuel filter, then filled up the injector pump (located just in front of the block) by taking off the banjo bolt at the top and pouring diesel in. I then cracked the injectors and cranked the engine over a good bit until all the injectors were wet. I then did it a bit more just for good measure to ensure all air was out and the injectors were DRIPPING! Then she started after one crank. These engines are pretty simple. Was it running before? Never dealt with stop start solenoid myself. Can only really be fuel, air, heater coils or compression that will cause it not to run
@@danb3e3 no, it was blown and I went through auto tech and rebuilt it with help. I definitely need to replace the fuel filter as thats an old part and the engine itself is 100% blueprinted brand new with rebuilt pump and new injectors/turbo/head/pistons you name it. Last time I worked on it I got the engine to start and run very nicrly off ether and the fitting at the injectors dripped a little. I didnt havw the 27mm deep socket so I ordered that to try snugging everything up. Im going to try a new fuel filter and then bleeding everything before trying again. I feel like Im so close 3 years in the process so far to restore this dinosaur haha
@@danb3e3 I am really building it from the ground up so my wiring for everything is nonexistent. Like, my fuel gauge and headlights worked and thats it. I think I need some method of giving my injection pump 12V with the jey, because thats whats cuts the fuel in and out to dictate when it can stop with the key. Because with fuel, it will just keep running til shes out
@@rajgill7576 haven't been on this channel in a while. Did you get the dinosaur running? Haha. I still have my car sitting in the garage. After sitting for a year it will start with one crank, I love it.
I watch these videos to see what other people are doing I do lawn mower repair small engine repair.! Doesn't anybody start at the beginning like cleaning the dirt and dust and crap off. Clean the carburetor out with carburetor cleaner before even trying to start it. Most people started without even checking anything and suck stuff through the carburetor on top of sucking it into the intake.! You do more damage this way. Never tried to start anything to you check the gas for stale gas. Dirt or a dirty filter. And with all that dust it probably sucked a lot of dirt into the carburetor even with the old filter. That thing needs to be power washed and cleaned before even turning over
I like the way you think , its way better to have something reasonably clean before starting , I don't know why people don't take the pride to clean stuff up , if stuff is dirty then theres a good chance of getting dirt into the engine , and messing up other components .
