BMW F10 F11 5/6/7 F Series Water Leak Rear Passenger Footwell - Yellow Grommet - *100% FIXED*
Переглядів 83 тис.4 роки тому
This video will walk you through the steps I took to replace the yellow grommet which was causing the leak in my BMW 5 Series. BMW Part Number for the Yellow Grommet is 51719151866
I have this problem now in my 520D, a garage has quoted me £175 to resolve it, is this a reasonable price?
👌
Nice video 👍👍👍👍
super helpful, thanks very much!
What was the point of buying a new plug (Grommet) if you used sealant to seal it anyway?
I have this issue on my nearly acquired BMW F07 530d GT ( also a UK car) and I’m going to do this. BUT….I also have a soaking wet driver’s side footwell (worse than the passenger side!). Any ideas? I know this happens on the passenger side because that yellow grommet blanks off where the steering column goes through on a LHD car….but is it the same the other side? Thanks
Thanks for this! What did you do with the excess water that was already under the carpet? I wet vacced as much as poasible but i can hear it swishing under there and cant imagine its going to dry narurally rhe water / moisture has nowhere to escape to
Missing Antena in your box?
Thanks Bro, very informative and excellent video. 👍😍
Thanks bro youre a legend.
Morning I discovered same problem yesterday rear near side footwell soaked. I am wondering if it is the same problem
hi, thanks for amazing video my question is how can u clean the drain hole there? Or this the only thing we can clean at this area? At my car i see water leaking back of my tyre under the fender at the textile cover. Im not sure if changing the grommet will help.
You are good brother, very clearly explained. Thank you for uploading the video.
Why this does not affect the front passenger seat because there is no water mark or anything
Thank you
Thank you!
This is exactly what I need! Thank you!
This video is gold. Thanks for sharing!
Don’t leave comments normally but this video fixed my car even when bmw couldn’t find the issue. I had a garage do the repair and since then I have had no further water issues. Thanks for the video.
You are a legend, men. Saved me a lot of money
There may be multiple points of water entry. Sunroof, rear door vapor shield & now steering grommet. 2014 320XI, 80K. Repair or trade?
Top video and explanation mate! Discovered my F11 2013 RHD passenger footwell sodden about a month ago. Puzzled. After a quick search came across this. Part arrived today and will attempt in the next few days. Think I’ll drill a few pilot holes in the cover. Definitely using some decent silicone as well. Can’t thank you enough for the step by step guide 🫡👍🏻☺️
drill holes where??
Hello, i have leak problem i think its the same but i have steering wheel at left side, and leak is at passanger at right side, what remove for see yellow lid? I cant solve it :(
Thanks a lot, you saved me. It’s been a nightmare in the last 12 months, I tried the rear passenger door foam protection , nothing changed. I gone try this now. The question is how the water is going through the rear seat and not in the front?? It’s there a canal or something?
How long does this typically take a garage to resolve and anyone know what sort of cost it is?
I wonder why this isn’t on BMW recall.
thanks for good video
Is it the same for left hand drive models as well? I’ve got water on my passenger side (right side)
Many thanks for making and sharing this video. God Bless. 👍👍👍
Mate! This is super helpful. Thank you for posting this!
Thanks for the video this is definitely the issue im having with my bmw.. just need to find someone capeable of repairing it 😢
Hi mate, thank you for the video. How did you manage to take the old part off? No matter how I try it doesn't come out .I think there are some clips from the other side? What do you think?
im just having the same issue now in my 2007 bmw right rear passenger, when i shake that door, i feel about a gallon of water in the bottom of the door..it then leaks onto the rear floor..
Good video, very useful. I left the grommet in place, cleared all the debris but permanently removed the plate covering it as it promotes water collection especially if the drain pipe blocks again. The water now runs off without issue to the bottom trays where it leaks onto the floor. This is an example of over engineering by BMW which will cause blockage abd leakage.
Hi mate could you do mine please how much would it cost.cheers
It may be a 3 year old video but it certainly saved me a lot of time and probably money as well , thank you for posting it.
I have a 530d 2012 touring, spotted last week rear passenger full of water. Vacced it out then next day after rain same again. Are you saying, the yellow grommet isnt sealed anymore and rain going into engine bay doesnt drain correctly and enters through the broken yellow seal? Im thinking of doing myself, just not great with diy.
How did you manage to take old one out??? Trying to pull it out with no luck 😒
Same thing here
Amazing video - thanks a lot for explaining the problem in detail. Much appreciated!
Thank you very much,I seldom use my 640, there has been 5 inches of water in there, I'm stripping her down today, thanks..
Nice 1 for that. BMW indy told me do t bother with grommet just clean it out pop it back on. One question though did you ask your kid if they dropped a drink in the footwell first I did 😂🤣
Hi, the water came back same as before. I strongly believe the garage didn't put glue around the grommet before attaching it back. Now I am trying to access this point? How difficult is it to tale that plastic shield out?
Thank you
Nice one 👍
Is this the same for e93
Do you know if this is the same in a e92 3 series with out a sunroof
I agree, you are a legend! Many thanks for this superb masterclass. My carpets are dry but the grommet recess was clogged with muck and the grommet looks a bit old. I'm going to fit leaf catcher mesh under the bonnet hinge cavities on both sides as the driver's side drain was blocked. BMW price today was £20.23p for the grommet. I've drilled several holes along the bottom edge of that plastic shield before re-fitting it.
Superb!!! Thanks for this!!! Very helpful and you've saved a lot of people money and stress!!! 🙂
GOAT
Thanks for posting. Far better solution then pull back carpets. Did mine tonight just to clean out the dirt and debris. Will order the part and replace the grommet. Thanks again.
No worries. Glad it was helpful. I'm not a fan of.pulling back the carpets to be honest. Just find this method easier.
