I love powershift
Why this guy’s voice resembles a farty sound at the low end..?? Is that my speaker problem??
I drive a 2014 SE with a DCT. I feel like I've lucked out with mine, as it's at 170k miles now and it's still running strong. It still shutters every so often when accelerating, but I haven't had to replace any trans parts
I have a 2017 maxima platinum with 151,000 miles and no issues....why dont Nissan use the same cvt in the rest as they do the maxima? Makes since to me.
As an old school auto mechanic AKA auto technician for the newer generation rule of thumb do your transmission drain and feel every 30 60 and 90, if you want your vehicle to keep returning the favor. Also CVT transmissions are not the same as transmissions with actual gears that can take more abuse before breaking down.
Does Nissan use Japco CVT transmission?
CVT is a poor choice for a good transmission. The old manual transmission never has issues if properly used and maintained. CVT is a disaster waiting to happen.
If you say “CVT TRANSMISSION” you have low IQ
Nissan did for the CVT what Oldsmobile did for the diesel engine in passenger cars.
I wish they would get rid of that piece of crap.
2016 Altima cvt went out at 49k. Nissan is garbage!
And now they announced that they are going bankrupt within a year lol
Trust me, they knew since day one of the first reports! Don't be fooled. Nissan is shameful! All about the bottom dollar and not customer safety! It's caught up with them, the people have spoken via lawsuits! Good on them!
I was in one of the Class action law suits but haven't heard anything about it from the law firm so I am still stuck with it and it has been parked for a few years now Ford has lost it with me I used to have other ford vehicles but I am no longer a Ford man I am cutting the other fords up for scrap metal one is a F350 Super Duty. We had a Fusion Hybrid we sold it and I will never buy anything that has ford Name On it ever again.
This is the reason why nobody wants American cars anymore due to bad quality. This is another clear sample of failure
I have owned a 2004 Nissan X Trail ST 4x4 for the last 10 years. It has only 170,000 Km, and has been regularly serviced since new. Still drives and feels almost new, with the 2.5 ltr petrol engine. The Nissan, and its reliability has impressed me. Naturally, the Automatic Gearbox on our Nissan is REAL!! I was about to go out and purchase a 2 - year old Nissan X Trail, until I checked and discovered that the "modern" version of the X Trail was fitted with a CVT Unit. I ask this question: Why re-invent the Wheel?? CVTs have been around (at a guess) the 1950s. I have also worked in Industry with CVT Units, that operate on the Cone Principal. I have seen them get so hot, that you can very easily fry an egg on them!! If the CVT in the Nissan is getting hot, then the laws of Thermodynamics tell me that this is energy (which should be driving the wheels) - is lost - as heat. Sorry, but now it will be a purchase of some alternative Japanese SUV - that is still manufactured with a real, conventional Automatic Gearbox
Nissian is a bottom feeder in the auto industry and should be avoided at all cost
I have a 2013 focus and it’s been back to the dealership for transmission problems 3 times…now it’s way worse and sometimes the rpm just go up and feels like neutral…very dangerous on hills. They won’t fix it for free bc it’s over 150k miles
almost 30 years later, nissan still have not perfected it in terms of reliability
I must be the luckiest Ford Fiesta driver in the world apparently cus not only am i using a 2015 Ford Fiesta Titanium with a Powershift autobox but also my grandfather owned the car before me before he passed away (RIP) and now I'm currently using for delivery jobs and never had a single issue with it. Aside from the occasional little judder here and there, it runs beautifully. Must have got very lucky to get the model with the improvements done to it.
I have a 14 kuga and the shift fork arms are stuck been told its a 5k repair the car not even worth that. I wish I knew what I know now before I bought it il never have a ford auto powershift again id advise anyone to stay from them.
I once had a car with a CVT gearbox. Never again !
First of all even though it is mounted in a Ford it is still a gearbox from the German company Getrag, so blame Getrag. Secondly, - and I know this should not be necessary, but if you change the transmission oil more regularly than required - meaning every 30.000 - 40.000 instead of every 60.000 kilometers, you will most likely never have any problems with this Powershift transmission. I have a Grand C-Max from 2013 and the Powershift transmission shifts smoothly and soft in my car and I have had no problems whatsoever. I change oil every 40.000 kilometers.
So is my 2020 Kicks a ticking time bomb? ☹ It's been great so far.
Cvt and eCvt are a different transmission
Yes men... the end of our country and a great brand name
Ford is junk...drive Honda or Toyota.
DCT can perform well and be reliable when done correctly. It's just that Ford's implementation stank. I would prefer a well engineered DCT over a CVT.
Transmission failed a few months after a clutch pack and oil seal replacement. After clutch replacement, shifted flawlessly, however the transmission had a slight wine in second gear. Wine noise became louder. Was about to take car back to dealer and complain but transmission failed, two codes reverse gear and fourth gear. Under the hood burnt electrical solenoid smell. I guess I will go to the shop and fight my fight without the car. Going to have it towed to the shop. Bummer. I will follow up with an update.
Here’s the results: Honda and Toyota CVTs are better than Nissan’s
I had one. It was crap. Tired of it living in the shop, so I got rid of it and got an 08 gt mustang, which was also crap. Now I drive a 1985 f350 with a c-6. No problems.
I’ve had one of these fail and lock the wheels At 75mph on the motorway! Extremely scary
I had one and loved it till it started acting up.
To me, Nissan is one of the 3 worst car brands in the world. They should manufacture bicycles, not the cars. I will never buy any nissan car and I will always recommend people not to buy it.
Is it to late to get anything from ford if you still own one of these models? I have a 16 focus with 50k miles and I think we missed the lawsuit buy back program....
Nissan and toyota are most overrated junks probably
Garbage i had bought a 2023 rogue platinum nice car but i experienced a slipage and slow down shutter so i got rid of it junk
Total junk
I had this tranny in a 2012 Fiesta. 2 clutch packs and a tranny replacement by 85ooo miles .The worst ford transmission ever. I dumped it then. My previous car was a Focus 4 speed auto that went 240ooo without incident.
Proper service makes the 6DCT450 is ❤
I used to be a 60 mins watcher, never again after that hatchet job.
If the car manufacturers continue to use CVTs for new vehicles. I will purchase used vehicles. If gears were not broken don't fix it!
I own a 2011 ford s max titanium powershift 2.0 and I've hand nothing but problems. ,I have it serviced every year . But now it won't go Into reverse gear and ford will do nothing in the u.k
Total garbage any CVT. I got burnt once on 2011 Cube never again! The rebuild cost me $3500 at 106,000 miles in 2018. The 2011 Cube didn’t qualified for cvt trans recall. BS only purchased a manual transmission. BS just go back to gears!
Never buy a Nissan.
I bought the manual. Its still my daily driver after 10 years
"What's the most reliable car brand?" All Mechanics: "Toyota" Also, all mechanics: "CVTs are so unreliable"
I have echosport2017
There's no way for a car to accelerate by itself, there's a spring in the plenum forcing the accelerator cable to decelerate, any mechanic knows that and knew the whole story was bullshit
They knew they had a problem and they did nothing about it
