Gods and Monsters- American Horror Story (Jessica Lange)
Captivating combination of music with visuals . Doubtless will have won many new friends to Tchaikovsky’s music even if come of the cognoscenti will have complained about the many (irrelevant ) factual inaccuracies.
I read an article recently which suggested that the tormented aspects of Tchaikovsky’s life were blown out of all proportion . Whatever the case , this remains a brilliant piece of cinema.
The opening scene makes a good case for slow movement of the Polish Symphony. Russell has a genius for meshing image with music even if he plays fast and loose with accuracy!
This sequence must have been difficult to shoot. But being Glenda Jackson such a great professional.. She passed the proof with "Flying Colors". 👍
We now know that Tchaikovsky was- in all likelihood - a much happier person than the one we see here or read about in biogs. What shines through in Russell’s dramatisation is the inspired meshing of music and visuals . A great filmmaker .

One of the best films i have ever seen.
Chef-d’œuvre absolu ! Adieu Glenda Jackson !🖤🙏
The soprano singing phrases from the Letter scene ( Eugene Onegin) is April Cantelo. It is a shame she didn't get to sing the whole scene. One of the most versatile and well known classical singers of her generation.
My favourite film.l just love it.Thank you for sharing.
Muito bom !!! Extraordinário Tchaikovsky.
a feel proud to be an extra in 1 of his movies
Tchaikovsky was one of the few composers capable of capturing the sheer shitness of what it is to be human in this mortal life.

Man my mom let me watch the weirdest movies when I was a really small child. I remember that I found the movie disturbing, but I still watched it to the end.
THANK YOU !!!! I was looking for this for my talented cello student. Greatly appreciated.
We saw this back in 1973 at the drive-in and were shocked at the train scene! Today, it is nothing, but back then it was very risqué indeed!
thanks!

Title of the movie?
It’s called “The Music Lovers”.
Tudo que esse homem faz é perfeito
Alguien me resume la pelicula xfa
I love Richard Chamberlain and his performance as an actor and pianist are brilliant. Thank you!!
The Music lovers
Richard. Gran Actor!!!
Hollywood didn't want to make this movie. He sold it to studio heads as the tale of a nympho with a gay husband.
Christopher Gable, Glenda Jackson, Ken Russell perennials both so good here. Even Richard Chamberlain good for once.
2:33 a busy night ahead for this gipsy girl
thank you wild north sea seriously thank you
Thank you for posting this. The fact homosexuality was taboo in those days, gave rise to such magnificence. His loss .. our gain.
You would think that homosexuality isn't taboo today. It still is largely. The repulsive nature to so many minds is, often families and neighbors brings this story as more relevant than ever.
@@RandKreun well said.
ken you made some good movies

Excellent video, very educational, interesting and informative. Keep up the good work for the sake of our precious environment.
One of Ken Russell's greatest. But see it in big screen Panavision (if you ever can).
That music I hear during the fireworks, how is it called? I know it's a real piece by Tchaikovsky, but I can't find it anywhere
Romeo et juliette
@@jean-jacquessimon6703 That high / twinkly piece to accompany the fireworks isn’t R and J or any of the ballets as far as I can tell.
@@MorganHayes_Composer.Pianist Vous avez parfaitement raison. J'ai confondu la musique qui accompagne le feu d'artifice avec celle qui marque l'incendie des terres entourant la propriété que Mme von Meck avait mis à la disposition de Tchaikovski,
@@jean-jacquessimon6703 i'm less familar with the 4 orchestral suites....it could be from there? Russell was great at not just using the very well known pieces.
@@MorganHayes_Composer.Pianist J'avoue y avoir pensé.
Lots of historic imprecisions. Tough in the realm of fiction an interesting movie.
Wonderful film, second to Russell's 'The Devils".
What a wonderful discovered gem.
Russell casting of Glenda Jackson coul not be more accurate. Both the character and the performer are despicable.
Historically inaccurate. Tchaikovsky's wife wasn't a nymphomaniac nor was she put into a low insane asylum. She was in a sanitorium with a comfortable room and enjoyed a pension of 12,000 rubles per year. He provided well for her and didn't hate her.
wildnorthsea+ Thank you for sharing this moving and beautifully directed movie.
