Is that a cot on your left hand side? How does it work in a bae camp situation? You like it? Have a link? Thanks for the review.
Yes it is. I am definitely a fan of cots when base camping, I find it it to be a lot more comfortable. This is the one I use www.amazon.com/MARCHWAY-Ultralight-Mountaineering-Lightweight-Backpacking/dp/B08215YSYD/ref=sr_1_15?crid=246O3II2CWP4V&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.0pXLnYYQtTNrOr_8wYYpxgJNe-EJbrD7OkYKZmR6x0p0KDWo_HzVS_9HJLonxHcPDTJHwJFqUPYoup6JFGLiEYUW2M3leKRFKVlYLupaRxJ6DZNkj5YIC6NNuf6U2b-0Az3CDNwdmoJoqMUJ2ndfYGtmgFUXu5V25L15MXr51ZWQPAU1tUBLQVOhwA4_t96SeMmacwla4f3ssy1h8kr-FBC3ZkfxL-nzITKgAjoXWSc300Cp1jSdITx0bEwCr0CGKti4XLVTCvqrxfeCpoTOrHjXbp2NxR8F81axXCQKw34.ZFiFBWeGALRAxFOUJfckpgVS9cks5BiLtD_IV8mwmLo&dib_tag=se&keywords=cot&qid=1725821247&sprefix=co%2Caps%2C171&sr=8-15&th=1
@@backwoodsescape thanks!!
A "JUDAS" IS ONE, WHO SELLS OUT THE "WELL-BEING OF ANOTHER", FOR THE WORTH OF SOMETHING ELSE...
I appreciate the heads up on the taste imparted to the water by the material of the carrier itself. A lot of folks reviewing this have mentioned its durability, cost, and water filter compatibility, but yours is the only I've come across mentioning the taste.
Glad the review was helpful for you.
I just picked up a used Skybox 21. Yeah don't by new. They are like boats and R.V's. Use them a few times and eventually they just sit and take up space because you don't use them anymore after a few times. Also most people will not likely take them off religiously and store them to avoid sunfade. And then there are the scratches you will probably get by moving it around. Just buy used.
💯
I would prefer to just see/hear you talk about it rather than the random bits of inserted b-roll or whatever those clips are called. They don’t really add anything, especially since they’re not showing the product in question. Thanks for the review, I’m thinking of picking one up!
I appreciate you wanting to stare at my ugly mug for 5 minutes about I dunno if everyone else would feel the same 🤣🤣
You Could tie a knot with paracord at the buckle to keep them.from loosening
I like my hydrapak with befree filter. 1.5L and has been durable enough for me. I did notice the plastic taste. I was hoping it goes away but so far it hasnt.
By bear friendly I think you mean easy for bears to get in 😂. Its a sleek design but bears can paw through plastic and foam. They don't need to catch the clasps
It's just a fleece hoodie with a very effective advertising campaign behind it.
Great review. For a second there, I thought that tree root was a snake!😆
Haha it does kind of look like one.
Sound was perfect. That badder sounds great!
I'm curious how it preforms in the rain. Does water get in from the bottom?
I haven't been in the rain with this, but I've seen plenty of other videos where people are in the rain with this tipi and it works great. It would have to be truly torrential rains for water to get in. If the ground you're on is slightly slanted then water could get in, but in that case you'd want to dig a small moat around the tipi.
@backwoodsescape I appreciate the response dude. Keep making great videos.
I almost pulled the trigger on the divide pack but backed off. I never see any videos on their packs and the ones there are, are years old. Their marketing sucks!!
Well I've enjoyed the Goshawk so far, for what it's worth. Haven't had it long enough though to test it's durability.
Nice work. Looks like a great tipi. Got to save my pennies for it. Nate
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Seems like an enormous hassle to go through when it only got down into the 20s and it was otherwise good weather. If you were dressed warm and out of the wind, you should have been plenty warm in a tent, especially with two people in there. It does look like your sleeping gear was pretty light though. You should consider selling that fussy and dangerous wood stove and just getting better cold-weather rated sleeping bags and pads.
You're such a badass, bro...please teach me!
@@backwoodsescape lol, well I'm not the one dressed up in camo camping at a trailhead pretending to be in the backcountry. Just seemed like you might benefit from some advice.
@@DirtFlyer right because i definitely say in the video "hey im here in the backcountry super far away from the nearest trailhead." Thanks for the advice. I don't know what I would do without the help of guys sitting on their couch dropping knowledge bombs with their cheeto-laden fingers lol
@@backwoodsescape Most people who go out for a car camp night don't dress up like GI Joe and set up a discount wood stove when it's barely cold outside. But then there are some special cases...
@@DirtFlyer Since you're obviously someone who does does nothing with his life (as is the case with all trolls) and is likely severely over weight, you obviously don't know the concept of testing gear. If you're 10 miles deep and realize some of the gear on you isn't up to par, you're SOL at that point. So trying things out in a safe environment is a smart idea. And the fact that you're so focused on my shirt is hilarious, and shows how desperate you are for attention in your life. It's just a shirt I like lol, what a crime! Please keep responding, the predictability of your comments is truly entertaining.
If you're going to do a review on it, at the very least you should learn how to pronounce the name. Yakima isn't a Japanese word. It comes from a city in Washington state. It's pronounced just like the city.
Thank you, I will take the advice of a troll very seriously.
I just bought the SO Divide pack and it's huge at 4800 cu inches. But yeah I'm a water bladder user as well and the Divide does not have a zip so not sure how to route the tube unless I store it in the front mesh pocket.
I've actually been thinking about putting a bladder in the breakout section of the pack. That way the weight is closer to my body. Only issue is it will be a pain to take the bladder in and out of there...
@@backwoodsescape Yeah, that would be a bit fiddly even if very close fitting to the body. Having 2-3kg in the talon or front mesh pocket is certainly not going to help with pack balance. I might have to rig something up to have my 3L MSR bladder sit in the side pocket.
@@carl8568 let me know if you successfully rig something up!
You are so handsome 😍
I would really like to buy the waterproof one, but I had such a bad experience with my purchase of the 2.0 that I am just afraid I’ll be throwing my money away again. I believe that the BaerSkin 2.0 Hoodie was THE WORST GARMENT PURCHASE I'VE EVER MADE. I bought the hoodie in 3X and the body fits fine. But the arms on mine were made for some pencil man, they are stretched tight on my arms from my wrists to my shoulders so I can't wear it over a long sleeve shirt. I see your jacket's arms (and most other reviews on UA-cam) look baggy. And the hood on mine is apparently made for a 50X hoodie as it hangs all the way over my head down to my chin. No adjustment on the back of the hoodie to adjust how far over your head it goes and mine seriously completely comes down to the bottom of my chin completely blocking my vision of anything in front of my feet, rendering the hoodie unwearable for me. I can get NO RESPONSE from their customer service. And from what I've heard from others, returning it is virtually impossible as you will pay more to ship it back to China than you paid for the hoodie and then they still might not refund your money.
Sorry to hear that was your experience. I think you'd be better off not buying the waterproof one then.
Does it protect your toes?
No it does not. I usually wear very thick boots so that essentially acts as my toe protection
Are you getting paid to say this
I've got 100 subs, bro. I get paid precisely $0.00 for everything I say 😂
@@backwoodsescape was just asking,
Love it! Great review! QQ: when you say to move the damper "periodically", exactly how often? Every hour as your burning wood? 1-2 x during the night?
I don't really have this part down to a science yet. But you will have to replenish the stove with wood periodically throughout the night. So whenever that happens, I move the damper.
We are collecting new camping equipment after a cross-country move. Your reviews are so helpful!
Glad to be of help!
One things to keep in mind, snake strike at the ankle and calf level a lot but they also strike your feet. Wearing snake gators along with mesh running or light hiking shoes still puts you a great risk. Get some sturdy leather boots.
I 100% agree. Unless I'm trail running, I'm usually wearing some Kenetrek or Hanwag boots which are very thick.
I add a buff to cover face. One appreciates the protection but only after using it. 😅
Haha that's one way to do it.
Another desert hiker here. I grew tired of bringing empty water bottles back since they take up volume. Encouraged by Hydrapak 2L that I already have, just ordered two 4L bags for longer hikes.
I think you'll be very happy with the performance of the 4L. Let me know how it goes!
Will there be any difference if I buy the women's model according to the actual size of the men's model? For example, the men's US10.5 corresponds to the women's US12. I see that the inner length is the same. Can I choose this way?
Unfortunately I don't know the answer to your question.
@@backwoodsescape My shoes arrived, just as I judged, the women's US12 corresponds to the men's US10.5 and their widths are also the same, the women's B model corresponds to the men's D. And there is no narrow problem. I’m really lucky.
@@卢六六-k8n Ah good to know! Thanks for confirming with me.
Not great in deep mud.
The hood and waist synch cords are worthless. Other than that, I enjoy the jacket. Very warm. T shirt only underneath for me.
Great video...but why do you keep saying "Yakima" that way?
Greatest hoodie ever❤
I ordered mine 4 months ago and Reddit is telling me it’s a scam… what is going on?
THIS COMPANY IS BASED IN SWITZERLAND, WHEN THERE IS AN ISSUE, THE PHONE NUMBER IS BASED IN THE PHILADELPHIA AREA, AND WHEN YOU CALL IT BOUNCES TO ANOTHER PLACE. I HAVE EMAILED AN NMO RESPONSE THEY SHOW LOWER PRICE NOW AND WILL NOT HONOR IT EVEN THOUGH I HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY MERCHANDISE IT IS A JOKE
Thank you for the review; I'm definitely interested but since I live in Georgia, it sounds like it would be too warm for our mostly mild winters. Wonder if they have a lighter version.
You're welcome, thank you for watching and supporting my channel. Yeah for mild winter areas, it's probably not worth it. They don't have a lighter version at the moment, but perhaps they'll come out with one in the future.
I was going get one but have read nothing but negative comments about their customer service all over the web if you need to do an change.
Yeah I've read the same (I guess I got lucky), which is a huge bummer because it really is a great sweater.
Worst commercial ever. What a ...
Got this for Christmas, cold winters in Ohio. It kept me warm and was great
Garbage.
Baggy sleeves means you can stack some layers underneath it, if you want. I think it lets you be a little rough with it and it makes a better outer shell than cotton hoodies of my day. A good thick hoodie under a rain shell, nylon or canvas, has always been a go-to for me. I think the micro-fleece products do better in the damp and wet than the old cotton hoodies of yesteryear. But they layer much the same as the old cotton ones did, under a good rain shell. These do look very nice. Maybe almost too warm to actually do much work in. More for snuggling up when things settle down. I'll have to check how well it breathes.
Well, ... thanks for showing the pockets. The pockets are rejects; outside pockets: rotate 90 degrees, or .. put the zippers on the inside pockets. Or both.
Great information! When you turn the Airplane Mode on, where is the GPS coming from? Internal to iPhone? Do you need a satellite communicator such as Inreach or Zoleo to improve reception? The ability of a great signal in an iPhone 11 cannot come close to a satellite communicator. Would like to hear your opinion. Respectfully,
So when airplane mode is on, GPS still works since that's connected to satellites. It's not like texting which needs service from a cell tower. You don't need a satellite communicator to improve reception, but I do highly recommend to download the maps before heading out, as that will make everything run smoother. That being said, I do use a satellite communicator, and I go with the Zoleo. I got a video on it here: ua-cam.com/video/OkdExlLH3zE/v-deo.html
What a schill
You’re wearing it inside and not getting hot. It must not be that insulated
Don't know what garages are like where you live. But here, the garage gets cold in the winter.
Great review! This device would also be great to keep in a bug-out bag for keeping track of family/friends during "city emergencies" like an earthquake or fire (when cell phone towers go down).
Compared to the altra torin 4, which one would you recommend?
Unfortunately I haven't tried the torins so I can't give you an honest assessment. Only other model I've tried is the vanish carbon, but that's a road running shoe so I wouldn't even compare it to the olympus.
You can purchase a belt that attaches to the mollie on the sides. Great bag!
Sleeves are way to long, I can get my legs in mine 😢
Their support sucks. Bought a size L and it's too small. Trying to get a response from their support on swapping to an XL and can't get a response.
China...
