A Dose of Divergence - Writing on the Edge: Writers With An Ax
CUTTING EDGE TOPICS COVERED:
Writing advice from seasoned editors. "Kill your darlings!"
Current events: AI writing, is it good or bad? Amber and Micki fall down the rabbit hole. Amber Fraley talks about helping her students tell real from fake.
Authors who cross boundaries:
Interview with "Native Blood" author Leonard Krishtalka
Paleontologist, educator and writer, Leonard Krishtalka, helps mystery readers unearth the truth about cultural history. He uses fiction to counter the politicalization of a legitimate scientific question in his latest in the Harry Przewalski Mystery series, "Native Blood."
Author Leonard Krishtalka has two parallel careers. As a professional paleontologist he has led and worked on expeditions in Canada, the US, China, Patagonia, Kenya and Ethiopia. As a prolific author, he has written award winning essays, the acclaimed book Dinosaur Plots, the Harry Przewalski detective novels, and "The Body on the Bed," a work of historical fiction about murder and a sensational trial amid the social upheaval of post-Civil War Kansas.
Anamcara Press LLC was founded by Maureen "Micki" Carroll in 2014 in celebration of art and community, and in support of authors and artists in their creative endeavors.
Carroll is a writer, educator, graphic designer, and all around cat herder. Her first book, "Photographer, Paratrooper, POW: A Wyoming Cowboy in Hitler’s Germany" combines war era correspondence and 70 year old photographs to depict an age of heroism and innocence. "The Tree Who Walked Through Time" was published in collaboration with 17 artists, including crop artist Stan Herd. She is also the author of the middle-grade series, Jo & the School's Out Squad. Carroll Chairs the Kansas Authors Club District #2 in Lawrence.

Annihilate Adjectives in Your Descriptions: Use Action Verbs Instead
Переглядів 8Рік тому
Describe your main character with action verbs instead of adjectives. Make your characters come to life by showing the reader what’s going on instead of telling the reader adjectives. Authors “show” by describing action. Get into the character’s senses - what do they hear, see, touch, smell, taste and how does that make them respond? By getting into the character’s senses and responses, the aut...

Riveting story-so eager to read the rest. I lived in the Middle East for 20 years or so and reading evocative, trustworthy accounts like this one is a so meaningful eve though the truth is tragic.
Thanks for you comment, I so agree!
I am beyond honored and grateful to share the screen and page with so many amazing writers and humans. Thank you, Micki, and Anamcara crew!
I loved hearing you read!
Thank you for this important discussion. Anthropologists were carriers of racism against Native Americans also, and every other people of color, (see my book They Met at Wounded Knee: The Eastmans' Story). Only a few in this new profession (notably Boaz) were not horridly racist. They openly claimed the ethnic groups of the world could be ranked in order of intelligence and ability and were integral to Hitler's philosophy. See the Brussels exhibits of King Leopold II's genocide of people in his personal colony, Congo.
The reduced blurb is better. I did not know what is meant by "mind the gap."
Wow, this is good information! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent advise. Just what I needed to hear.
Great video presentation. You clarified the resolution issue for me. Thanks!
Dope video! I definetly would love to watch more videos like yours. You have to check #OliMuellerDigitalArtist if you love design & reviews.
