Obi-Wan had a chance on Mustafar when his brother, Anakin, asked for help. Instead, he turned and walked away. This time, it was Anakin who walked away from his master and brother, only to be abandoned in the same way. Rather than killing him, Obi-Wan left Anakin to suffer, to rot in his pain, just as he had been burned on that fateful day. Anakin-now Darth Vader-was left to endure this suffering, betrayed by those he once trusted. In his anger, he screamed Obi-Wan's name, much like the many times he had asked for help and was let down. He cried out for help when he wanted to save his mother, when Ahsoka was on trial, when Ahsoka was kidnapped, and when he feared losing Padmé. Each time, he was abandoned by the Jedi. Even when he sought to learn a way to save his wife through honorable means, the Jedi turned their backs on him. Now, bound to the Emperor, Vader has nothing left. The only one who never abandoned him was his son. In the throne room, as Luke stood on the edge of making the same mistakes, Vader finally intervened, saving Luke-and in doing so, saving himself. Luke never abandoned him.

It's heartbreaking to see Obi Wan's expression, you can see the guilt in his eyes, he feels guilty even for how Anakin ended up, let's not blame him, he did his duty, and he thought he would die on Mustafar, I think it's worse for him to see what that companion, friend, child, who he trained for so many years, became. We can't blame Anakin completely either, it's true that when he went over to the dark side he did horrible things, but he simply sought the good for his wife and was never understood by the rest of the Jedi, obviously he made the wrong choice and was deceived by Palpatine. Perhaps deep down in his heart he didn't want to be Darth Vader and he regretted everything, but hatred blinded him completely. PS: I don't understand so much criticism towards Hyden, he's not the best actor, but he played the role of Anakin very well.

Hey guys, so this info is for everyone who is debating the idea whether Anakin and Vader are separate "persons" - which has always been the incorrect info. In the original trilogy, Luke calls out Obi-Wan's blatant LIES, in effect bringing together his father's identity as one person. So there was no need for this extra "confirmation" that "Vader did in fact kill Anakin" - in fact, it sends the audience into totally false "theology" which is the Jedi's original false interpretation of the Prophecy. What they didn't understand was that the Force had been Light-imbalanced, repressing the Dark, and so the Chosen One HAD to go dark. (Speaking of that: who really killed Anakin, who is "I" - is it really Vader? Why is Vader speaking in Anakin's voice then? Why is Vader seemingly absolving Obi-Wan, when that's something only his good friend would do? Could it be the mysterious Force that killed him?...) Likewise, they failed to understand that it would be through the close emotional bond between the two warriors, that Balance would be restored. I can understand Obi-Wan being so sad and insane with guilt that the only way for him to survive is to conceptualize his friend as "having died heroically long ago," allowing him to miss him and to feel his feels for that person. However, it was not his "good friend" who would "want more" - the things that were denied for no good reason other than the mere continued power of the Jedi. So yeah... bring Balance, AS I DID. RELIGIOUS BELIEFS OF THE THRACIANS (From a travel in Bulgaria) “Thracian religion belongs to Thracian Orphism and to the spiritual achievements of the Thracian and Pelasgian ethnic and cultural community. It is a synthesis resulting from giving a new meaning to and revising the concepts from the Eastern Mediterranean traditions, at least from the end of the 2nd Millennium B.C. The most prominent figures in the Thracian pantheon are those of the Great Mother Goddess and her son - the Sun - from whose marriage the ruling Hero was born. The idea of the Great Goddess as a rock cave or womb is found in Southwest Asia, where Hellenic historical sources sometimes call her Kybele. The goddess is unnamed, but her essence is that of Megale Thea (the Great Goddess) and her names vary by region: Bendida, Kotito, Zerinthia, Brauro, etc. Hellenic authors emphasise her aspects, calling her Artemis, Artemis the Queen, Rhea, Hekate, etc. The combination of the solar and terrestrial principles whose balance is realised by the Sun-husband of the Mother Goddess is the basis of Thracian religion. The supreme Thracian god preserves the uranic-solar characteristics of the Indo-European god of thunder but, at the same time, is a cosmogonic chthonic god identified with stone. In the context of the solar cult in Egypt and in the Indo-Iranian cultural cycle of the 2nd Millennium B.C., probably also in Thrace, the worship of the Sun precedes chthonism. The terrestrial god was accepted first in Delphi in the 8th Century B.C. He is unnamed but may be defined also by one of his literary names - Zagreus. In Hellenic tradition, the two principles are personified as Orpheus (Apollo) and Dionysus, who also reflect the two manners of professing the cult - enthusiastic and ecstatic. In Northeastern Thracian regions, Zamolxis-Gebeleizis is the figure that unites the uranic-solar and chthonic characteristics.”

Anakin had spent 10 years coming to peace with the fact that he himself was responsible for his own suffering. I think he was more just angry with Obi-Wan for not killing him on the Lava planet. I think he was more so angry that Obi-Wan didn’t finish him; I think that’s why he says “you should have finished me when you had the chance”.
