My thoughts on the Garmin Epix Gen 2 versus the Apple Watch Ultra 2. Which one is right for me and my lifestyle?
Garmin Epix Gen 2

My review on the Garmin Epix series of watches and whether or not I'll be upgrading to the new Epix Pro. This is NOT an in-depth review of specs or features. This is my overall impression of how this watch has worked for me over the last two years and why it is still my go to sports and fitness watch.
GORUCK GR2 Long Term Review - 5 years later
Переглядів 22 тис.Рік тому
I've had this 34L GR2 for five years. It has been all over the world with me and has done everything I've asked it to do. It looks even better than when I first received it. Without a doubt, one of the best all around, one bag travel, everyday use, do anything and go anywhere packs ever built.

Possibly the perfect tech pouch. Great organization, style and durability. The Evergoods Civic Access Pouch 2L is a great option to organize your EDC.
Evergoods Civic Travel Bag CTB 35L Review
Переглядів 14 тис.Рік тому
Another Evergoods bag. This time it is the Civic Travel Bag 35L. This has become my top choice, replacing my GR2, for weekend trips and travel adventures. Tons of great features, typical top notch Evergoods construction make for a great bag. Just a couple small issues keep it from being perfect.

Evergoods just released their classic CPL 24L in OD green X-Pac. Super cool bag from a looks and functionality perspective.
Evergoods Civic Panel Loader 28L CPL 28L Mirror Review

My favorite bag to date. I review the CPL 28L Mirror after four months of daily/travel use. For my uses, this is one of the best bags on the market.
Pelagos watches are so good!
I picked up the blue dial date in 2023. It’s a beautiful color and I think of it as my white gold Rolex Smurf. Lol. It’s just a gorgeous watch. I own three other Tudor Pro, opaline gmt and Black Bay 41. I own Rolex submariner Starbucks and mint green date just, Grand Seiko gmt and King Seiko, but I always go back to my Tudor Blue date Pelagos. Enjoy it brother
Bought this in blue back in 2014. Still have it. Used it for daily carry once buy now using it for travels. It really held up.
Nice words, how is the comfort on rubber strap?
I wanna see one with the black strap that it comes with all everybody shows the green strap
Hardness is not the same as resistance to cracking. The fact is that mineral glass will scratch more easily that sapphire but will be harder to crack.
cool channel and you've got great energy - subbed! nice proton hoody by the way
Damn that’s a good looking bag
Since you don't like the front pocket on the GR2, have you ever tried adding an internal and/or external molle pocket? It looks like you could use one of the built-in internal pockets for fairly quick access for passports and such as well. Two zips an you're in. Have you tried that? TIA 🙂
Really enjoy your delivery. It’s very down to Earth. We could use more of this type of watch channel.
Thank you so much!
Regarding cracked sapphire crystals: I too have had a difficult relationship with them. I have cracked the sapphire crystal on my Tudor BB GMT and also on my Rolex Explorer 39mm MkII. In both cases, I sent the watch back to a Rolex Service Center for repair. Unfortunately, repair and maintenance are a part of opening just about anything.
What cloth straps do you use?
I have a couple of nato straps from Bark and Jack and I've been really happy with them.
Interesting that you find titanium scratching more than stainless. Just by pure hardness you technically need something harder than itself to scratch it. Most likely it’s the oxidation surface not actually a scratch per say but great review 🤙🏼
Thanks! I'm not a metallurgist, but I believe that the grade 2 titanium that Tudor uses is much more susceptible to scratching than stainless steel. They use grade 2 because it is softer an much easier to work with than grade 5 titanium. Grade 5 would be unlikely to scratch, but the manufacturing costs to produce a watch from that material would be much higher.
I have owned the BB GMT Pepsi for about a year now. It is an outstandingly sharp watch with very, very high quality and build. The time is absolutely spot on. Most days are + - 0 seconds. I purchased it new on the bracelet. I have ordered the Tudor leather strap and buckle. This has taken a long time to receive from Rolex. This watch is an outstanding watch and can be dressed up or dressed down very nicely.
The Sub has a lot of text and no one complains.
Very true.
What is your size?
Great review… I’m like you. I just love a black dial watch, classic and timeless, I’m definitely going to get this timepiece next. 👍🏻
Do it!
Can I buy this from you haha
Perhaps!
The outstanding legibility never ceases to amaze me. Grail material for sure.
Its a keeper for sure.
Great review. Got a 42 on the way. Your presentation and delivery are so above the average You Tuber. You are precise and sincere. You don't stumble or stutter. I hope you are earning a good living interacting with people.
Thanks! I need to produce some more videos, but life keeps getting in the way...in a good way!
What size your Garmin Epix?
51mm. Just upgraded to the Fenix 8 amoled. Review coming soon.
Correction: 47mm
@@chris_shafer did you get the 47mm Fenix 8 amoled or the 51mm Fenix 8 amoled?
@@wreck90 47mm.
How has the xpac held up after a year of use?
Excellent. No issues at all, but it probably only has about a half a year of total use at this point as I'm bouncing between that and my 28L in the standard material quite often.
Great video I stumbled upon your video researching the CPL series thinking about getting the 16l as it's on pre-order I have a 20l GR1 Heritage but it's a little bit big. I find myself not utilizing the full capacity so I'm going to downgrade my EDC a bit. Fast forward to September 28th 2024 how are you liking this bag? And Are you still using it as your daily?
Thanks! I still bounce between this bag and the 28L CPL. It just depends on what I'm bringing with me for the day. I've started bringing a duffel with me most days to carry non essential stuff so I think this 24L will be my go to. The layout and organization of the pockets is uber convenient for me on these CPL bags.
The GMT Looks better than the sub
It is beautiful for sure.
Pelll-uh-can (the bird). pel-Ahh-gos (the watch). Greek word means Sea. Please never call your beautiful watch “pelly”.
dork!
Hi thanks for the really good video, I own & love this model also. I totally share your sentiment about why you prefer your Tudors for everyday drivers over rolex etc. 1 Question I noticed the factory sticker on the side during the video, how comes? When I buy new Tudors I try to keep stickers on for a while until they fall off but the AD usually removes the case side sticker. I'm curious 😊
I'm not sure why that sticker was missed by the AD. The rest of the stickers were pulled off. I noticed it when I first unboxed it and meant to take it off, but in the excitement of wearing it I totally forgot. I even forgot to remove it before filming this video. I didn't notice it until I was editing and by that time I wasn't going to reshoot the whole thing!
I get the idea of patina and character however I would replace that crystal. That’s not character it’s damage. I think with acrylic it’s nice when it’s scratched up and it adds some wear but this is much more severe.
It ended up getting replaced. The power reserve seemingly malfunctioned shortly after filming this video so the watch went back to the Rolex service center in Houston. While it was there they asked if I wanted to fix the crystal for $160 so I just had them do it. All good now.
As a bag nerd and mom who survived lymphoma, quite inspiration. Keep killing it, bro.
Thank you! You too. Congrats on surviving lymphoma. Keep going.
I have tried apple wacth ultra, for me isn’t for sports. I ve never seen nobody run marathons with one.
I'm sure people do and they will keep getting better and better, but for me it just isn't the right fit.
How tall are you? Ive been thinking about this pack vs the 26L gr2 but it seems tall and I'm only 5 10
I'm only 5'6" and I think it looks fine.
Great review! Both are fantastic but I kept my 7x pro. The newer MIP is much better than the older versions and the battery life was just tough to beat.
These watches hold strong for quite a while. Mine is pretty beat up at this point and even has what I think are either hard water deposits or the coating on the crystal is deteriorating. Either way it is still a keeper.
Nice review. Bro still keeping the stickers on?😄
Totally, forgot about that one! I noticed it after I filmed the whole video and was editing and was too lazy to re shoot the footage!! Sticker was promptly removed.
Nice job with this video. I have the OG Pelagos and I really like it. I think it gets more wrist time than my Seamaster. Do you prefer the FXD over the OG because of the strap and red text on the dial? Anything else?
The strap and red text are definitely positives for sure. I also like the symmetry of the no date face although a date function is mighty useful. At the end of the day there is a lot of overlap. I also like how the bezel has markings all the way around compared to the OG Pelagos. Again symmetry here.
Se fosse 40mm seria perfeito para mim!
Great format, great info, great video 👍
Thanks!
Thanks for the great review. I’ve had mine about 3 years now and never looked back. I too love the matte black bezel it’s definitely more “me” than something polished. Love that you want to keep it for your kids I’m hoping to pass mine on one day and hopefully they’ll appreciate it 😂.
They'd better appreciate it!
Thanks for this video. I also have 6.5 inch and worried the watch is too big but the Pelagos 39 doesn't really interest me. I think I would do a BB58 instead of a Pelagos 39. I purchased a San Martin Pelagos 39 homage to test drive.
Let me know how you like it!
Nice review. I don’t own one yet but I like the “finer” Grip on the bezel of the original vs. the newer one. Thanks
Yes, the bezel grip is definitely different.
I also own the Diet Pepsi. Looking forward to using the GMT when I go to Portugal for a trail later in the year.
Absolutely! Use it as it was intended!
Great video!
Thank you!
Just another Tudor shitter
Nice Review. Thx for your Video. I own the pelagos as well and I love this Watch. Its my everyday watch
Great watch for everyday wear or for just special occasions. It is very versatile.
I had the same issue with the samsung galaxy watch 5 pro. Now, i love my Garmin forerunner 965.
Hey Chris, saw your other video on the GMT; It is becoming true that you can never beat a predecessor, this Pelagos, when it came out, we complained and complained about how thick and over sized it was. So many media outlets tried to rescue the watch by categorizing it as a proper tool watch. Well, soon as the 39 came out, I gravitated towards this, I love the cut out for the markers and how the markers are properly highlighted because on the 39, the markers seem to be floating around. This just seems very tangible and better thought out. Only downside is that I have heard of the bezel wearing out.
Oh man, I haven't heard about the bezel issues. Makes sense though. It'll be interesting to see how it ages and if that worn in bezel feel is something we grow to love over time just like the other scratches and nicks.
Hi Chris, found your review on Epix Gen 2 rather useful. You didn't actually mention if you wear your watch in bed at night. I've been a Fenix 5X 51mm user for last 5 years, but found that I eventually had to remove the watch at night, as it was simply too big to wear in bed. I'm now thinking of upgrading to Epix Gen 2 47mm. I was wondering if you have an y issues with size & weight of yours on your wrist at night?
I have the 47mm as well and I wear it almost every night. It doesn't bother me at all until the strap starts to wear out and the tail end keeps coming loose. At that point I just replace the strap (roughly every year).
I’ve had mine since 2019. You should check out the Everest fitted rubber strap for this, it’s great for summertime. Also, if you’re wearing it with a shirt and jacket, the OEM bracelet fits pretty nicely under cuffs. Great review! 🛡️❤💙❄️
I'll definitely check those out. Thanks for the great suggestion! Mine didn't come with the OEM bracelet, but I know I can pick one up for a few hundred dollars.
Check out the “fostner” and “uncle straps” bracelets as well.
Awesome! This makes me wanna switch the strap to leather, it looks great. 👍🏻👍🏻
It looks awesome. I've been so afraid to let mine get wet, but it might be alright. You'll love it.
Excellent review, thanks for sharing. ⭐️
Thank you so much!
Tudor, make a BB58 version of THIS watch, please🤨
It seems you got your wish ua-cam.com/users/shortsEPDPp9ygz0M?feature=shared
They just did! Just announced a couple of weeks ago.
@@chris_shafer Yes, but not THIS version
Appreciate the transparency into your personal challenges. Great honest review, looking forward to purchasing! Best of luck with the treatment.
