Why is there always so much seaweed in Mosquito Lagoon. Makes it so hard to just blind cast in my kayak. Even with weedless lures there isn’t any stopping it 😂

6lbs braid?! Wow that was definitely ballsy. I’ve caught decent Reds on 6lbs mono a long time ago and while it was difficult, if I was on an open flat it was doable because of the stretch you get from mono. 6lbs Fluoro would probably give enough stretch too but I haven’t tried it. Haven’t tried 6lbs mono in a long time because all my reels have braid now and I mainly use 10-15lbs depending on application. Apologies if I missed it but what rods were you using?

recently had 4 reds come up a small marsh creek where I was fishing for flounder. They were actively feeding along the bank across from me. I tossed a zman shrimp at them but they were pushing up in the grass feeding there. Probably should have tied on a big loud top water lurer in that situation to throw to get there attention. I had caught a 25” red 2 days prior on a Carolina rig egg sinker and live mullet. My red rig is a Lews inshore medium 7’ rod and bait caster reel. I fish where there are plenty of oysters beds to get hung up on so I like my medium rod to pull out of the oyster beds plus land the fish faster so they have better chance of recovering.

Perfect way to round off your time w the Rival, on the bow and on the fish!

Excellent Video!! Subscribed as soon as I finished watching. I’ve been taught the lagoon techniques from videos like this. Still very much a newbie but the fever is runnin high. I have a week off starting Thursday and plan at least 2 early start days there. I fish from a 16’ Jon so my challenges are high also up the rewards are extra sweet. Looking forward to more videos, maybe I’ll be in the background. Rock on guys!!
