Hi! and Wecome to my UA-cam channel. I have had a long break from photography over the Australian Summer and now with the days getting cooler and the leaves beginning to turn and I am so eager to get back out with the camera...
Love your channel ❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉😊🎉🎉❤
Great Video
Very iconic.
I just went through your portfolio and got absolutely stunned by your amazing work. You deserve more subscribers, Mr. Jeff. Please keep making video. Btw, which camera and gears do you use for video?
@@vanthanhle2370 Much appreciated! Thank you 🙏 I use a Sony ZVe1 along with my 24-105 & 16-35. I use the DJI wireless Mic for audio 👍
Beautiful work as always, Jeff!
Thanks Timo 👍
Thanks Jeff another enjoyable and instructive video. It's also timely for me as we're enjoying some fog in the Adelaide Hills at present (well, photographers are enjoying it!)
Fantastic images!
Thank you
Totally jealous again (still !). Perfect Fog, & wonderful to see our country back-roads this way. Thanks for sharing, Jeffrey :)
I thought you would like this one 👍
Love the images Jeff. Thanks for the tips on composition and your thinking about how you framed them.
Thanks Wayne. Looking forward to catching up in a few weeks
Me too Jeff. Fingers crossed for snow.
beautiful country road scenes mate
Cheers mate. Yeah they make a classic Australian country scene
Lovely opening shot of the 2 trees and the road. Looks like an artist had painted it. Always look forward to your tutorials. And how many place do you normally have for your workshops. I see your high country ones are already booked.
@barryaitken9761 Hi Barry thanks for watching and glad you’re enjoying the videos. I usually have 4 spots for each workshop. I still have just one spot left on my May 2025 workshop. If you head to my website there is all the information and ability to book. Cheers
Great video.
Usually people do these around the new year, and after a bunch more videos, but hey ho. I am personally surprised how much you shoot with the 24-105... I usually end up going wide or long for landscape stuff.... I just find that anything in a "normal" zoom focal length often looks like other photos and don't really differentiate. I also hold the same gear (although a 24-70 F2.8 instead of the 24-105) and more (can fit a prime or 2 or a backup body) in a much smaller bag (31L), and thats with snacks, layers, etc. Always interesting to see people's gear and always great to see someone new putting out videos... Keep it up!
I would never have thought there was a time of year people do these videos. Interesting. I see what you mean by shooting with a mid range zoom and that it gives a pretty standard look. However, I use the lens that will give me the look I want rather than shooting with something because it may provide a different look to others. If anything I’d say the wide angle is the most used lens by landscape photographers and had been for a while now. I am actually looking for a smaller bag as I’d like something I can take on short trips. I need that size bag because it needs to fit my video gear / equipment which I didn’t mention in this video. Cheers
Interesting you don't have a polariser lens in the bag? I have a DSLR, and use a similar focal range you do. Mostly woodland, ancient and newer plantations here on Cannock chase in the UK. Can't understand why I haven't found your channel before. Best wishes.
@@IanElson28thanks Ian - just started doing UA-cam and enjoying the process of making videos. I do actually own a polarise but rarely use it. I think if I shot more water scenes I would use it but it’s just one extra thing to think about that slows the process down.
@@jeff_freestone mine is used to saturated colours and take the shine off foliage, not many shots of water for me either. Looking forward to the journey ahead for you.
@@IanElson28 yeah ok. Both valid. The saturation is useful but I tend to prefer control over saturation in post. The shine off foliage is probably the one instance I could use it for. There have been instances where I have thought I could have used it but hasn’t ruined the images enough for me to start using it more. Thanks for watching and commenting
Great video.

Excellent video, Jeff! Beautiful photographs - I'm starting to miss the autumn season already!
Thanks mate - yeah I am too. I’m currently trying to get a few images edited from Autumn this year. Makes me miss it looking at them. But lucky we have winter on its way.. keen for some snow photography
Awesome work Jeff! stunning image of the falling bark on that beautiful snow gum. winter is just around the corner mate.
Thanks Luke. Yeah was some nice colour in the gums and was good getting the fog that day. So keen for winter and keen to do some videos out in the snow 👍
Great work Jeffo!
Thanks mate 👍
I've been really getting into tight shots of plants. Loved that shot of the hanging bark. The details are fantastic! 18:26
Thanks! Yes I love photographing plants in a intimate style (close up) focusing on the patterns etc. check out my portfolio for sone plant work I have done in the past. Thanks for watching
Excellent work, Jeff. I especially like that first phone, it’s a cracker.
Thanks Phil - see you next week 👍
Loving it man 🙏 keep it up
Thanks mate. Appreciate it and glad you like it 👍
Loved the shots Jeff, gotta love snowgums, thanks for the explanation of the focus stacking of tree bark
Glad you liked it! Thanks. And yes I love snow gums 😉
Excellent video, Jeff! I really like that second shot of the hanging bark. Those colours are so good!
Thanks Timo. Appreciate it and glad you enjoyed it 👍
Great video mate, killing it!
Thanks mate 👍
Great stuff mate. Beautiful region!
Thanks for watching. Yeah such a diverse landscape and so much to explore.
Excellent vid!
Thanks Brendan.
Hi Jeff. You sound more comfortable talking to the camera. I really love these gums. Especially with the really sliver trunks and strips of bark, that at first, strike me as looking like blood on the tree. Each winter I visit my sister on the outskirts of Omeo and are always amazed at how each tree is totally unique. Love how sharp and clear the focus is on the individual drops of water are on the leaves. Well done. Erika
Hi Erika - thank you again for your comment and feedback. So you are familiar with the region. It’s a stunning area and so much to explore. The transformation the alpine goes through in winter is my favourite time of year and hope to film a few videos up in the snow this year.
Love your work mate! So good to see more good quality homegrown content out there on UA-cam. Keep it up!
Thanks Alex glad you enjoyed it 👍
congrats for your new joirney in youtube! looking forward to seeing more content!
Thanks Ryan
Congratulations on your first video! Very good with your tone, talk rate and info. It's just like talking to a friend. Professional feel to the editing. Loved both of the pic's of the hut now and in the snow. Both bring a different feel and was lovely seeing them side by side. I would be interested to see the difference between just taking a shot and one where you showed us how you focused on the trunks in the foreground with the background blurred. Loved how you reminded us to look up. We often forget other aspects around us. Really love seeing your end results and look forward to you catching photos of the brumbies and other wildlife. Well done 👏 Erika ✨️
Thank you so much Erika 🙏 I really appreciate your feedback and so glad you enjoyed it. It’s hard to know how something like this would be received with so much other high quality content on UA-cam but it was very nice to read your comments. I have two other videos I have recently filmed that I am currently working on so look out for them. Hopefully not too far away. You’ve made my day 🙏
Looks amazing, Jeff. Can't wait to get up there.
Thanks Karen.
Enjoyed the video. Love the Alpine region so looking forward to more videos from you.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching
