    Hey, I have a Q. When I turn on the taps to pressure the boiler system I can hear water flowing good until it reaches about 1 bar then no more ? Is this a water feed issue or something with the boiler? Maybe PRV or vessel ? Appreciate your reply. There’s no leaks by the way. It’s is an alpha cd28c. Yours jack of all trades master of none Phil 😁

      @@philipgordon7058 the pressure relive value or expansion vessel can cause the pressure to behave like this.

      Thanks, well nothing drips out of the pipe so I’m thinking not PRV. Just can’t phathom how the expansion vessel would limit the water pressure. Fortunately it’s above a bar so I’ll worry about it if it ever drops.

    What an absolute con..... would you trust someone to work in your property after a 6 month course that was based in a classroom and requires some photos of you pretending to do some work on site?? What they don't tell you is that when you come out.... no one will employ you. Because no one is that stupid. Without any experience you won't get a job!!!!!! So you can work for yourself????? Enjoy the legal battles when you it all goes wrong because you flooded some poor old lady's house out because they taught you how to connect a cooker. But not drain a system down properly. There is a reason it takes 4 years the traditional way...... on site with experienced engineers. These courses do nothing but teach you how to pass a test. When in reality it's hands on experience that you need. When I did an apprenticeship it was 1 day a week at college and 4 days on site...... it was the 4 days where you really learnt and practiced your craft. Just read real reviews online of people that have done this training. Or from BPEC, the awarding body for apprenticeships. Or from anyone that isn't affiliated with these centres. Unsuspecting victims come out with a certificate that cost a fortune and no job what so ever. Just try and get a gas job online........ they will all give a minimum term of experience required....... These centres should be ashamed of themselves. They are diluting the industry with cowboys that don't have a clue. Its already bad enough and gas safe is there to protect customers. Anyone that goes on these courses and thinks and think they can walk out with a fancy new certificate and earn £50k a year are delusional.

      So tell me how someone in there 30-40s with family and responsibilities is to learn a new career in a trade ? Please tell me ? Your comment is based on ignorance. I know people, especially one of my best mates, re trained to be a gas engineer on one of these courses about 11years ago and has done really well for himself. Once these guys pass they are encouraged to go and get some work experience with a company. It certainly won’t be full pay but will be enough to get by and most importantly learn.

    Okay but does this then effect the heat output? So lets say i range rate it down to 50% will this effect the temperature or how quick it gets to the desired temperature. Also if i were to range rate it to 50% and set the heating at max temperature would this be better?

    • @stephendoherty8291
      @stephendoherty8291 7 місяців тому

      So the ratings were set for homes with near no heat retention. I have now set mine to 60% and I'll see if the rooms stay as warm and do they get to that stage. Many smart thermostats show you how warm a zone gets or where the zone thermostat is.

    I see comments asking how much we earn. In my personal experience................... Self employed in Central London 300 to 1800 a day. Outskirts of London 200 to 600 a day The further up North you go the less you get. You need to live in a densely populated city to maximise income. If you're self employed you need sales, marketing and negotiation skills as well as all the gas skills. Also need electrical and paperwork skills I came out of corporate city jobs after 18 years and took a year out to intensively learn all of this starting with a fast track course. It worked for me, but it wont work for everyone.

    I'm 74, still GSR and do odd bits to keep sane. Went self employed in 1972, had an ex GPO moggy van. 1st combi was a Vaillant, no approved filling loops and so far advanced at the time. Come 1991 and mandatory Corgi registration was a wake up call knowledge wise! ACOPS in 1998 and ACS in 2003 brought the industry to where we are today! In the early days it was an era looking back makes shudder at some of the the stuff I did in my ignorance!
