We went out again today and Tramp’s GPS collar (was Paulo’s GPS collar) says he had his most active day ever! I believe it ‘cuz I’m WIPED! 🌵

Yes! We have talked about it… so many toys and no place to fly! Actually, I have made an effort to put all those toys in the front part of the aviary for exactly this reason. The footprint is 5’ wide x 4’ deep and they do have a good 2’ of that 4’ depth (x 6’ tall) as open space for flight. (Where I’m standing.) I have arranged food, water, shelter and sunning areas so encourage flight. I have arranged food stations, water dishes and baths, shelter areas and sunny spots to encourage flight, including on the floor. It makes me happy that they use the whole space, top to bottom. Thank you for bringing up an important topic!

Hi Ian. The aviary is 4’ x 5’ and it is 6’ tall. The entry door is only 4’ tall to minimize the chance of anybody flying out as I go in.

It has been so cold I didn’t want to announce their arrival prematurely. 😌 But even though the big birdbaths in the yard were all frozen today, none of the four small ones in the finch aviary were. 👍🏽 I love hearing the babies beg real loud and strong for food. At about 3:00, back in the nest, they’re going nuts!

I decided on two goats because they will fit in a large crate in the back of my car. 😄 I’m thinking keeping three might be better for social dynamics, though. If one is a bully, the heat is spread out between the two others rather than focused on the only other goat present. But I do think three leashes would be more trouble than it’s worth! Ha! I think your goat walks with be wonderful if you are out away from people. They will likely just follow along with you. If you are nervous about it, you may want to keep the leader goat on leash. The other two won’t go too far away from the boss goat.

Aren’t the finches pretty? The one with the pied head is the offspring of the original two so we have some pied genes running around. The goats aren’t used to me being in that yard and not paying attention to them. I was asking them to not cry cuz they were making me sad!
