What is the brand of clay? Do I have to fire it?

Best process video I’ve seen - thank you so much. And I read your correction temp - good to catch that and post 👍🏼. Excited to try - although I need to source fire clay - I’m guessing it’s in the powder stage and not wet bagged stage. Although I could get wet and dry it then crush it.

Is the metal plate completely parallel with the wheel head? When I set mine up, the corner of the metal plate nearest the handle is lower than the other side. So I stopped using it. Is there some way to level it out?

Thanks for sharin Don. What type of clay do you use for outside work? Do you use grog clay, Sculpting???? What stands the stress of outside weather? Stoneware would probably be good? Thanks for all your help.

I don’t mean to be critical. You skipped over the most important part…the measuring tool. How many inches for each bowl? How much clay for each bowl? That’s the important part. It’s nice to see you throw but I’m interested in seeing mine fit

Those are hump molds. The clay goes on the inside of slump molds. It goes over the top of outside on pump molds.

This is nicely done, but I didn't find anywhere the weight/size of the different balls of clay.

Thank you for sharing! I would love to create more plates and platters, but I have a problem with warping, and occasional cracks. It’s hard to manage the drying process in my hot, Texas garage! One of these days I’ll nail down a successful system. Trial and error…

Hi Don, when you let the pot dry a bit before adding new coils, is it just for a short amount of time, like less than an hour? Like just enough to barely stiffen up, not close to leather hard, right? And do you ever have issues with the base and lower coils drying out too much by the time you've finished the top? I'm never sure how careful I need to be about making sure all my clay is drying at the same rate. Thanks!

I'm wanting to make the clear but my clay distributor offers 2 kinds of Neph Sy A270 and Neph Sy 400m which do I mix with the Gillespie Borate (since out of the original) or they have this new blend Gerstley Borate Blend (Laguna) THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!!!
