Painting TAMIYA`s 1/16 Scale JAGDPANZER IV / L70 Kampfgruppe Hansen Ardennes 1944
This is video shows my way of painting a unique german camouflage scheme for late World War II vehicles. The Disc-Camo scheme was used from late 1944 until the end of war in 1945.
To achieve an appropriate result I used a camo scheme stencil and a lot of patience mixed with skill and all known weathering techniques.
I hope you like my interpretation and don´t hesitate to use the comment section if you have any questions.

A Diorama Transformation - Restoration of a german SdKfz 251/1 in russian dew weather.

Here is my reupload version of a diorama restoration project from 2022. The SdKfz 251/1 is a Zvezda kit and my intention was to present it in a more realistic pattern without a three tone camo. In this scenario the vehicle is an old veteran of the early days of Operation Barbarossa. The vehicle made it surprisingly into the early days of 1943, during the retake of charkiw.

      Maybe you know what to do, after dry brushing give the oil paint a good amount of drying time (12 to 24 hrs)before you go on and seal your paint job with an acrylic varnish.

      Hello Glenn, sorry for the late answer. I use white spirit for thinning only. After every paint step with oils I calculate a large drying time depending on the color thickness I painted on my model before I go on with the next step. I seal the final paint step with a matte acrylic varnish. Maybe a medium is useful to accelerate my output. I will think about it. Thanks Glenn

It is not necessary to buy every single color tone when you can mix them together. For more reference you can watch my other figure painting Videos. You can find them in my figures and busts watchlist.

    For the movie GI Samurai the Type 61 was a scratch built prop. At some points in action scenes you can see the rubber prop cannon for the tank flopping around.

    Hi, could you tell me what you use to dilute the Tamiya acrylics to use on the brush.

    • @DIORAMUS-
      @DIORAMUS- 2 місяці тому

      Hello Joao, you can dilute Tamiya acrylics with ordinary tab water but they dry very soon. For a longer drying time you can dilute them with isopropyl alcohol but this choice is expensive. I use Tamiya acrylic colours only as a base coat. If you want to paint only with acrylics a wet pallet is helpful.

  • @ladyknieval
    @ladyknieval 2 місяці тому

    Was surprised and pleased to see you using Tamiya XF paints, as that is the main range that I prefer in every model I work with. How do you keep it from drying out however, that's my biggest dislike of using them for detail work? Can you use it like I do Vallejo for figures, on a wet pallet? Admittedly I haven't tried it yet myself.

    • @DIORAMUS-
      @DIORAMUS- 2 місяці тому

      Most of the time I use the Tamiya paints as a base coat and not for details. For color transition I use highly diluted oil colors. For me and my way of painting the drying time of every acrylic color is too short if you don't use a wet pallet. For work with a wet pallet the Vallejo colors fit better than the Tamiya ones. The combination of acrylic and oil colors is not very user friendly I know but I have a better control of smooth transitions especially on faces. So my paint style looks more realistic (my opinion). Every time I use oil colors I have to seal my work with an acrylic flat varnish to erase the shiny effect of the oil excess. That is a negative and time consuming aspect of my work. Maybe you can test different acrylic colors with a wet pallet and than you can decide which one suits best for your paint style. If you want to know more about my mix use of oil and acrylic colors, watch my other figure painting videos. That would be nice. If you want more info, you can contact me. Always welcome.
