Tips for Better Bait Presentation
Neat and natural bait presentation can make the difference between hooking and catching fish or going home empty handed. Good bait presentation will attract fish and encourage them to bite, and careful placement of the hook tip will improve the odds of setting the hook.
This video describes some basic tips on how to present prawns and worms on a fishing hook. Use these techniques for everyday bait fishing with the family and kids and start catching more fish!
A huge variety of hooks, swivels, sinkers and fishing line are available from DINGA Online and are delivered free across Australia for DINGA Online members.

Here's a good recipe for you. Ingredients • 1 Cup Brown Sugar • 4 Tbsp Soya Sauce • 3 Tbsp Sea Salt (must be sea salt) • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil Instructions 1. Mix ingredients together with boiling water - about a litre. 2. Add 1 litre of cold water or enough to cover the fish ( I used 2 litres) - fish must be covered 3. Leave in the brine for a minimum of 12 hours 4. Remove fish from the Brine and air-dry for 2 hours (MUST be air dried-not in the fridge) 5. Smoke with your usual woodchips and smoker

Different rods and reels are for different styles of fishing Fly rods are for fly lure fishing Spinning rods are for spinning lure fishing Bait casters are for casting heavy lead anchor weighted baits for Surf fishing, cat fishing in a river with currents and trolling from a boat offshore with a swimming jig lure. They are geared for trolling speeds to get the lure to swim right in the water. Spin rods can be casted underhand from a pier or bridge, unlike bait casters. Spinning rods are better for casting in windy conditions, unlike bait casters. No matter how good you get with a small bait caster on a calm lake you will bird nest when casting in the wind on the coast unless you have a two or three ounce lead weight in the rig. Also, a small bass fishing bait caster will get ruined in sandy or dirty conditions. Different rods and reels are of different styles of fishing with different lures. The only rod and reel sold for beginners is the closed face Zebco.

Spinning reel: more distance, cheap, simple, all round use Baitcaster reel: heavy lures, jerks, much more control over the lure during flight. I got my first baitcaster and very soon discovered I can do very precise weird throws. Once your let the finger of your spinning reel, the lure is sort of out of control during flight.

I’ve been using my little kipper smoker for years (very similar to this one shown). Best tip I can give us to brine the fish overnight in a brown sugar/maple water mix - I also add a few cloves of garlic and peppercorns. Needs to cover the fish in liquid. As far as the smoke, go to BBQs galore and get a little stainless box called a pellet smoker - the bags of pellets are cheap as and last a long time. So much easier than those little packets of woodchips, and the smoke flavour is a lot more intense. If you want your fish a little drier like I do, you normally need 3 or 4 stove fillings and burns 👍 Cut into finger size bits for faster smoking - bit of cracked pepper on top, and have with a water cracker on a cheese platter.

Used spinning reels for a long time but have changed to baitcasters for a number of reasons. Accuracy, space in the boat, casting distance, durability and more fun to use. Haven't had a birds nest that needs scissors in years. Takes a little practice though but once you get the hang of it, it makes fishing so much more fun.

a baitcaster is not only more comfortable, accurate and has more feedback than a spinning rod but also much more fun and rewarding. baitcasters feel like the rod and reel are one piece with only the reel handle being the other because you can simply press a button to release your spool while a spinning rod feels like 3 different things being the rod, bail arm and reel handle all being awkward to use and recast once you upgarde to a baitcaster you never go back

For the everyday fisherman the baitcaster is king. Its versatile and out performs any spinning reel. The spinning reel is only good for headaches. You get wind knots and if you dont get wind knots the line wraps around the reel seat handle, bail, its a nightmare. I took out my bff and let her cast it while i was fishing my regular rod and after a few casts the line was a mess around the reel and she just gave it up and asked me to never take her fishing again. I should of let her cast my baitcaster. All i would of had to do was put on some brakes and she wouldnt of birdnested
