Переглядів 298Рік тому
In this video I clean, sharpen and oil an Italian folding knife that I bought for £2 at a carboot sale I just used household scouring cream and dish soap in the kitchen sink to clean all the gunk off, I only needed to use a strop on the blade as it was in good condition I always use mineral oil on my EDC folding knives as it's food safe If you want to make a strop like the one I use above here'...

wonderful restoration, I do love the design of the handle, very unique, very THOR!
Thanks Mate. Thor make some good quality tools! 🔨👍😊
Can’t get better than that😊😊 Great video Wonder how many shears could have been recycled ???!
Thanks Mate. Yes a lot of the old tools are better than the new ones we can buy today 🥃 👍 😊
@@Everythings_Adjustable The car booters leave stuff in a shed covered in Rust and expect top price when you Want to restore it Clueless 😔😔😔
The rust makes it old so now it's an antique, 😁I'm guessing you're in the UK Rob, good luck at the carboot next weekend!
@@Everythings_Adjustable thanks 👍 Do my best mate
I have similar vice for Carpenter’s
They look like a very useful well made vice
Nice!
Thanks Sam, I am happy how this one turned out 🛠👍😊
You're lucky you didn't need to replace an end, as it's not as easy as it looks. The ends are crimped in during manufacture and the copper ends swell into grooves in the head during use making them impossible to remove short of drilling out. Even the rawhide ends needs a lot of work to fit unless you have the tool and a press to expand and re-crimp the recess.
Thank's for the information Brian, Luckily I've never had to try to do that 🔨👍😊
50p for a pair of Felcos is a crazy deal?
I know Ian, They really well made and all the parts are replaceable (you must be sitting there very bored Mate to be watching this one ) 🍺 👍 😊
@@Everythings_Adjustable Hahaha. Anything on UA-cam has gotta be better than watching the news or a soap opera.
Yes but we have a soap opera now running the country 🙄
Nebo makes junk. They are all junk. I work at a place that handles this trash daily. It's junk. Avoid.
Fair enough Mate but mine are still working ok
wolf made some good kit, they used to make a strong hand drill that you would struggle to hold on start up, with the torque. I think that one of yours is the driver for a valve seat grinding set, which wolf used to make.
Thanks Keith, Yes their stuff was always top quality and thanks for the information 🛠👍😊
when tools were made to last, good job, well done.
Thanks Keith, you are right it seems like we are living in a disposable society nowadays 🛠👍😊
Wow, very cool and interesting project man, I love it!
Thanks Mate! It was a very easy build and quite cheap to make 🛠👍😊
I bet your mother is so proud of you. If you were my son I would be!
That's very kind of you RJ, Thanks 🥃 👍 😊
Just picked up a thor no 1. Led me to your channel! You have just inspired me to restore it! Very interesting.
Thanks for watching Chris, They are well worth cleaning up They make a good quality and very useful hammer 🔨👍😊
I had just made a number six with leather covered handle and copper on the locking collar it fell in the canal through a hole in my back pocket and i hate Primark
RJ, That's a real shame Mate, it's always sad to loose a knife but worse when you have worked on it, What will you be replacing it with? another Opie?
Use to work with a guy who would use old plastic water supply lines to fix his tool handles . Worked great
That's another good idea, I think the new plastic pipes plumbers are using nowadays might work aswell
That came out nice!
Thank you! I made it as a present and am very happy with how it turned out (a very simple little project to be honest) 👍 😁
Really informative video. I‘ve just purchased a no2 vice to restore and then use. This video has really helped. I love that blue colour you’ve used, would you possibly be able to tell me the brand/where you got it? Thanks!
Hi SM, Thanks for watching, The paint I used here was Hammerite Direct to Rust Smooth Blue Metal Paint, The original colour that Record used was ROUNDEL BLUE BS381C I hope this helps 🍺 👍 😊
Nice addition to the man cave!!
Thanks very much, He's very happy with it 🛠👍😊
Nice job, the only thing I wouldn’t have done would have been the choil. I feel like that would weaken the blade and I don’t think it’s important enough to have one 🤷♂️
Thanks for your comment TB, It's there to help with the sharpening, If you use a steel to sharpen in the kitchen the Sabatier bolster stops the steel from reaching the heel of the knife and over time a spur will develop at the bolster, The bolster/spur will impact the chopping board before the edge and stop the cutting edge from touching the board near the heel, I hope this makes sense
❤
Thanks for watching 🛠👍😊
That vice was an absolute bargain! I've not done a car boot for decades, getting the urge to go again👍🏻
I'm addicted to them
Nice job. Like that belt sander, it's just the right size👍🏻
Thanks Alex, I'm very pleased with that sander I bought it second hand maybe 15 years ago and still works great 🛠👍😊
Brilliant idea, love it😂👍🏻
Thanks Alex, I was very happy with how it turned out and it's used every day 🛠👍😊
Great idea for the music lover👍🏻
Thanks Mate, it's a nice easy little project to make 🛠👍😊 Love the name of your channel!
@@Everythings_Adjustable it was a joke that stuck, the wife used to comment about me always cutting myself in the shed. Then I decided to do a channel and it was the only name I could go for😁👍🏻
Sounds spot on Mate 🍺 👍 😊 I've subscribed and am now looking through a few of your videos
Great work! 🎉❤ Do you have erbauer ext tools or batteries?
It was a bit of luck Mate! No I don't think so I got rid of all my assorted makes and went balls deep with Dewalt (maybe a couple of not working AEG's') 🛠👍😊
Great job love it And it's great to see you back in the workshop 🍺🍺👍👍
Thanks very much for always watching Brian! 🍺 👍 😊
Very cool clock! Well done! Glad to see you back! 👍😀😎
Thank you very much but still need to sort out my camera before I'm properly back

I've just realized that I've been calling you the wrong name, sorry Mate, 🥃 👍 🤔🙄😁 Tony
Algood congratulations on hitting the 1000subs.

Thanks Dave my mate is happy with his new clock, Sorry I don't comment on any of your videos, you are a bad influence and will get me in trouble 😁
hahaha @@Everythings_Adjustable
That looks fantastic.
Thanks Mate, I am very happy with how it turned out 🛠👍😊
The pocket warmer is a good idea!! Have you used it yet?
Thanks for watching, Not yet, it's in one of my future projects boxes 🛠👍😊
beautiful knife!
Thanks, it cleaned up very nicely for a 2$ knife 👍
Woodworking comes with injuries even with the right tools. We put disclaimers on all of our woodworking videos for this very reason!
I will have to start doing that when I have sorted out my camera problems, That was caused by my own impatience / laziness 👍 🤔🙄😁
Really nice find
Thanks Ryan, it is a strange beast 🛠👍😊
Wow ! Just getting into exploring the Opinel line. This is one of the best restorations I've seen ! I really like what you did with reshaping the blade design Enjoying the good work from Southern California.
Thank you very much Eliel, They make a very nice knife for not very much money 👍😊
I’ve spent a good while bingeing your channel. Especially like this idea with the wooden wheels. Like the cut down sweeping brushas well, and the gas bottle bin is really good, the skateboard wheels for turning whilst sanding clean very cleaver. The business card dispenser was also very good. I love this kind of stuff combining the materials at hand with great ideas. Good stuff mate.
Thanks Mate you really went down the rabbit hole! I hope there were some interesting ideas there Brett and I think you need an aluminium WD40 holder in your workshop 🛠👍😊 Tony
Right I’m binge watching your channel tonight. I didn’t realise you had one. Great idea by the way. Sub’d to you now.
Thanks! 👍 It will help you sleep if nothing else 😁
perfect
Thank you 🔨👍😊
The wheels are a great find! We like to install wheels on all our moveable pieces in the garage!
Thanks, I always buy them when I find them cheep, The price of stuff like this (inc screws, hinges and finish) makes projects a bit daunting 🛠👍😊
@@Everythings_Adjustable Yes, the cost builds up quick!
It turned out great!!
Thanks, I'm really happy with how it turned out, I'ts used every day now 🛠👍😊

Thanks, That was a nice easy one 🛠👍😊
I didn't spot the pin in the handle at first. Rather I thought it was going to be solid. The turntable is great!
Opinal make a really good knife at a very reasonable price 👍Old broken Microwaves are always useful for something 🔨👍😉
