Crawling On All Fours
United States
Приєднався 9 бер 2022
Crawling On All Fours was created to showcase a mix of hobbies and tasteful creativity with radio control (RC) cars and trucks (rock crawlers, specifically), automotive cleaning / detailing, and general automotive topics centered on things with four wheels. :) The name of the channel reflects the nature of RC rock crawlers, the action of crawling in and out of vehicles while detailing, and "...All Fours" simply clarifies a subject relative to vehicles with four wheels.
The aim is to maintain a clean and creative channel with enough focused variety on a regular basis to keep it interesting for the viewers that search for specific topics like these and to the billions of new viewers that browse through UA-cam every day.

CUSTOM Build Rewind! - Element #RC & ProLine 4Runner Body
Although I've loaded multiple videos of this truck already, I've FINALLY gotten around to compiling all of the build clips that I took when modifying and detailing this Element Enduro @ElementRC rig with the ProLine Racing @ProLineRacingYT '91 4Runner lexan body that it came with.
The truck was technically already "built" when I bought it, but the body was pretty beat up and scratched, so since I liked the blue/white color combination, I knew I could modify it the way I wanted. :) Lexan is pretty easy to work with. It took a little while to build, but patience pays off, because I've been really satisfied with the results.
There are some additional mods and upgrades that I've done since the body mods, so those will be detailed in a separate video. Enjoy!!
Notable components:
- Hobbywing Quicrun Fusion Pro 1800kv brushless system @HOBBYWINGOfficial
- ProLine Racing '91 4Runner lexan body
- Element RC Enduro builder's kit

TALL CRAWL For A SMALLER CRAWLER - HobbyPlus CR18P EVO Pro 1/18

Not quite a "Short" and not long enough to be a full-feature video, this continuous shot captures the typical performance from this HOT little crawler, the 1/18 scale HobbyPlus CR18P EVO Pro. Includes the stock 280 "big block" brushed motor (great for this size crawler) and ESC. I've since swapped the stock servo after a failure / burnout to a 9iMOD 7KG mini servo. It's miles ahead of the stock...

RC CRAWLING at Red Top Mtn (afternoon): PART 2
Hi ! How long does the tour last, I mean how long does it last from when you start driving until you return?
From the hotel to the shop was around 1 hour. Add 30 min for helmets, safety training, and prep. ATV was 3 hours. Then back to shop and shuttle back 1.5 hour. About 6 hours total.
Cool vid. Nice work. An insane amount of detail in building and customizing the crawler.
Thanks so much! I don’t know about an insane amount of detail, but I certainly kept my patience to maximize the impact. 😊 The custom body panels and roof rack definitely took the longest to prepare, and I still want to make / print some custom inner fenders to close off some of the open areas as you look up into the body. There’s always more to do!! LOL THANKS AGAIN for the great compliment and post!!
You did a great job, it looks amazing.
Thanks, RCCA!! ‘Preciate the early view!! 😁
Your run video and narration are good enough to not need the constant cutting away to 'amusing' clips and stock footage.
I appreciate that. :) I do like to keep it lighthearted, but I have definitely noticed that my product/narration videos have had the most views compared to my other videos. I certainly don’t want to overdo the “amusement”. Thank you again for the compliment; I will keep that in mind in the future.
What do you mean Rock Pirates truck? What was it originally? Rock Pirates doesn't make their own truck
True. However, it’s custom and the foundation of the “truck” itself is Rock Pirates: chassis, servo mount, bed, and rear X-brace. The axles are Element and the body is RC4WD. I figured “Rock Pirates Element Enduro RC4WD Mojave II Hobbywing FlySky Pro-line truck” would sound waaay too long. LOL “Rock Pirates RC” or “Rock Pirates truck” is simply a generalization. :)
Good catch, by the way!! :)
Great video, Just installed a fusion SE in my rig. Haven’t run it yet. Learned a lot watching the video. Thank you.
SUPER!! That's really cool; thanks for the AWESOME comment!! You will love the new motor! :)
Does anybody know if the FOC function can be turned off????
Someone knows. :) LOL Actually, you CAN turn it off in the programming. It's designated as the first option as "RPM / throttle matching". You can enable or disable it. If you're more for the challenge, then disabling it will cause it to function just like any other sensored brushless motor / ESC with a 1:1 throttle experience. If you come up to an obstacle the vehicle will slow or "stall" and you'll have to adjust your throttle as you climb over the obstacle. The results will test your skills and be more realistic compared to the smooth controlled action of FOC. Personally, I would never have the need to turn it off other than seeing the difference in performance, which could probably make for a good follow up video review. To be honest, FOC is a little bit of a cheat if you're looking for scale realism. However, the performance is AMAZING, and from the videos I've both seen and also created myself, I think the results of FOC look great on camera, so that's what I prefer. Thanks for posting the question!!
I've got one and big smiles the whole time I'm running it . I highly recommend this truck.
The steering links and drive shaft were the first upgrades I did. Since this video, I've also added the brass hubs which offered a noticeable difference in planted performance. More upgrades on the way. :) Thanks for the comment!
3:30 if you’re not good at making how to videos then don’t make them. This seems like nothing more than an attempt at getting views brah
Nice video 👍
Thanks 👍 I appreciate the post! :)
I was looking at this but ended up with the redcat ascent 18.Nice choice and looks like it crawls great. 👍🏼
I do hear good things about the Redcat 18. Nice choice. :) You'll enjoy it. Thanks for the comment!!
Excellent video that showcases the capability of the Fusion SE. I love your truck as well it is awesome. It has been recommended that I upgrade my Redcat Gen 7 Pro to this system for better performance as I had been talking about getting the Hobbywing 1080 ESC to replace the 40 that comes stock. I wonder if upgrading to the brushless system will mean changing the stock plastic spur gear and plastic gears in the transmission. Still lots to learn and thank you again for sharing.
Thanks so much! Ironically, I actually changed the metal spur gear that came with this truck (eBay purchase) back to the stock plastic spur gear, because the metal pinion gear on the metal spur gear was crazy loud and very high pitched, like nails on a chalkboard to my ears. My transmission is fully stock, so no issues there. Metal gearing would theoretically last longer, but I don't think the investment will result in a noticeable performance gain. For things like that, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. :) I'm certainly no expert in this hobby, but the longer I tinker around with hop ups and performance upgrades, I try to scrutinize every dollar spent and maximize the performance gain per dollar. This has helped me whittle down my upgrade money to the tires, brass, ESC, motor, and transmitter, probably in that order. With the Fusion SE combo, it takes care of two birds with one stone. The HobbyWing 1080 ESC is a great component! I use it in my OG Element Enduro Sendero truck. It made a big difference with wheel speed control, and it made an even bigger difference when I purchased a better transmitter. It's very smooth and quiet, certainly a TOP VALUE in the hobby. While I prefer the smooth action of the Fusion SE, I don't discount the performance of a [good] brushed ESC and motor, especially if you're looking for scale realism and life-like challenge. However, for the camera and just all around visual enjoyment, the brushless combo takes the cake! :) There are more expensive units out there, but again, it boils down to performance per dollar, which is why I chose the Fusion SE for all-around performance. Thanks again for your post!!
love it 4runner body nice 👍🏼
Thank you!! I really think the SUV-style bodies offer the best visuals on camera. You have a lot of real estate to play with and lots of panels to embellish with other accessories, materials, and decals. This particular line really blew me away; I couldn't believe that this truck, which is naturally top-heavy, was able to scale that rock like it did. Thanks again for the post!! :)
Love the paint on that rig! Great video!
Thank you!! :) :) The plain blue and white was already like that when I bought it (eBay), but I added the gunmetal on the outside, as well as the DIY decals and accessories. Then I sprayed it with a few layers of matte clear to take the plasticky shine away. Everything else pops that much better. Every so often, I go back over the body and re-spray with matte clear to fill in the lighter scratches. I sand down the deeper ones to minimize their appearance. It ends up looking like new!! This is definitely one of my favorite trucks; not quite a shelf queen, but I'm definitely careful with it. I'd like to custom print some fender wells for up angles like I was doing in this video.
that thing was crawling like a spider slow and confident.
Hmmm... spiders. "Out of sight out of mind..." said NO ONE after they saw a spider on their bed!!! LOLOLOL Yeah, this has been a really cool little crawler; very surprising for its size. It's rather peaceful to watch.
Beautiful shots!! 😀😀😀
Thank you!! It was a lot of fun!!
Your "slow crawls" are getting really good!! Keep up the great work!!
Thanks 👍
Beautiful spot cool little rig as well 🤘✌️
THANK YOU!! This was a really tough hike!! I do wish I had waited until I got to that ridge before I started crawling, because I burned up all my energy and drained a lot of my water along the way. It's ok, my story wouldn't have been as unique if I didn't do it. Be sure to check out the build videos!
I really like the 4Runner it really does crawl very nicely 🤘✌️
Thanks!! It's 98% done (like most crawlers). LOL :) :)
Cool crawling video I hit subscribe 🤘✌️
You're awesome!! Thanks for the SUB and the Comment!! :) :) :)
Excellent man, I mentioned in my previous comment in your other vids that I just got two SCX24s...I was reluctant at first because of tiny screws nuts bolts and I'm not as young anymore at 45 and my eye sight not as great too plus I wanted to stick to 1/10 only. But then I bought it from a guy locally who modded and upgraded the C10 SCX24 that it like comp grade and I'm so happy driving it...see my video post in my channel here over the past couple weeks. Also I added a TRX-4 with MEUS Ripper converted from a Bronco but I have to upgrade more parts to it and contemplating on selling it. Anyways I came across another channel mostly focusing on 1/24 and 1/18 rigs and the builds he made you might be in this channel top here called "Angerhaus"
I'll definitely check out the vids!! :)
What is the piece between the rp bed and cab
It's a custom box I made. If you FF>> to 8m 25s I talk about it with a little more detail. I used SketchUp to design it, and then I sent it to my friend so he could 3D print it. :) All you need to do is measure the gap between the bed and the body (after it's installed) and go to town. You could make it more rectangular like a regular box, but I preferred tapered sides to match the angle of the RP bed.
Great video and narration! You should put a little person in the driver's seat. 😄
Good idea!
4Runners are GREAT! Cool video!!
Thanks 👍
Cool decals!! What great references to Ephesians 6:12 and Galatians 6:7!!! 🥰 CLEVER. Keep up the great work. GOD BLESS!!

I am watching this video and my dog is looking for your dog.
HILARIOUS!! My video is a success!! I'll tell Hazel. :) :) :) Thanks for letting us know!!!
Nice shots and crawling!
Thanks! It certainly exceeded my expectations on that rock!
Absolutely buddy...that's why I love the rc crawling segment when I learned about it and later on got my TRX-4 Defender(turned in to a Jeep) and now added an Ascent Fusion plus two heavily modded SCX24s and a TRX4m. It's fun and satisfying running the trucks in different terrain how it can got over it and another fun element is using my smaller SCX24. Some RC guys don't like crawling and don't get it, they just like the bashing type RCs. I understand but they are both fun to me I have basher type monster truck RCs too I just like rock crawling more.
The entire hobby fascinated me since I was a kid. However, each "segment" is specific to that area: Planes/Drones (air), Boats (water), Cars (roads), Bashers/Buggies (dirt), etc. I'm not coming down on anyone that likes those segments; I enjoy those segments as well (I have an on-road car and a buggy). Rock crawlers seem to offer the most "smiles per mile", considering the fact that you can take them practically anywhere. And yes, they can go in the water (to a reasonable degree) and in virtually any condition (dry, rain, muddy, snow, ice, etc.). Thanks for the post!! :)
@@crawlingonallfoursRCYou're welcome man, as I mentioned before I'm trying to grow my channel too with my RC fleet content. I recently added my Team Associated Rvial MT10 bashing session with my buddy's Traxxas Slash to change it up a bit to the flavour of those RC guys who like bashing and speed runs. The Rival MT10 had been a shelf queen for over a year since I bought it new now full of dust dirt after the run. My buddy and I both love the trail/crawling RCs we both just got the SCX24 and heavily modded and I love I can take it anywhere in my backpack when my family goes hiking or when I'm on photo project excursion in my photography business. My two SCX24 are great small yet very capable tiny rigs I can bring and weighs a little bit less than my 11+lbs TRX-4😂 Plus the SCX24 gets less attention from crowd when I'm driving. But when I drive my TRX-4 I'm glad people watch me and even ask questions about it. I gladly tell them and show that I have a UA-cam channel and why I film it now. Have a great summer man.
I agree. Keeping a good balance of RC vehicles will definitely widen your audience. 11lb crawler! That's a heavy rig! I have not weighed my Rock Pirates rig. I used to think it was 6 or 7 pounds, but the rails are steel and the wheels are weighted. I'm thinking 8 or 9. Go to your channel from the main UA-cam dashboard (not your Studio dashboard). Create a QR code for your channel (right-click if you're using Chrome). Save/Download it as a picture and then transfer it to your phone. Then, when you're talking to people you can show them the QR code and it will take them directly to your channel. I went a little further and created a custom picture with a thumbnail of one of my trucks and my logo so they don't think I'm weird. LOL It helps out a lot.
@@crawlingonallfoursRCThanks man I'll try that tip. I just text people I know the copied link to my channel page if they haven't been to my channel yet.

What wheels & tires are on the truck?
In this particular video, I'm using a set of white Injora wagon wheels and the stock General Grabber RTR tires. The tires work really well, but I will likely replace these with some RC4WD scale Super Swampers. Here are the wagon wheels: www.injora.com/products/4pcs-1-9-10-spoke-metal-beadlock-wheel-rims-for-1-10-rc-rock-crawler
I've since switched them to some older wheels and I'm using beadlock rings from Locked Up RC. See them here: ua-cam.com/video/EmRoj4BNUjs/v-deo.html
@@crawlingonallfoursRC ok thank you…I like the look of the truck,I’m gonna build something similar to yours.
AWESOME!! Be sure to tag my channel if you film it; I'd love to see the progress and the final results!! :) :) :)
Injora FAKE Canyon trails are get much less traction because the their inferior compound. They are nothing like the TRAXXAS! Superior views from your hike in the mountains! Koodo's!
Totally, I've been learning a lot about rubber compounds ever since I bought my first set of PL SuperSwampers. Prior to that, I only had experience with Element's General Grabbers and Injora CT's. The General Grabbers perform much better than the Injora tires. Unfortunately, I don't have the hobby funds to purchase multiple sets of premium tires. :( I'm working on it, though. Thanks for posting!! :)
the videos just keep getting better and better. nice views for sure. way to be prepared and loved the recovery… with drive shaft and try try again on pulverized stone respectively.
Thanks! 👍 I've added Google Earth Studio to my arsenal of tech tools; it's INCREDIBLE. You can create custom dynamic videos or canned templates; I've barely scratched the surface. I wish I had used it more prior to my visit so I could have researched other spots.
COOL!! 😎😎😎 Great views!! The truck looked like it performed pretty well even tho the trail was challenging. How hot was it that day?
HOT!! I went early, so it wasn't bad in the morning, but by the time I got to the top it was 90+, and by the time I got back down to the parking lot it was 100+. Thanks for the comment!! :)
That's a really cool crawler!! Sedona looks beautiful, glad you had a great time. Those wheels look AMAZING!!! 😍
Thank you 🤗
What wheel is used as the spare? Boom racing?
LOL, no. eBay special. :) I needed just one wheel; most brands or stores sell them in pairs. I had found a listing that sold them as 1's, 2's, or 4's. It was only $11 or something like that. Great question; thanks for posting!!
I toggle between wheelin my 1:1 built lifted jeep and my 1:10 crawlers. I get miles of walking/running over hilly terrain just chasing my 1:10 crawlers and it's been the best form of exercise I actually look forward to. Great video and filming. It was fun to watch while enjoying my morning coffee.
Thank you so much for the comment; it helps a lot! Yes, I certainly enjoy a simple hike, but I really like bringing my crawlers. It adds to the exercise and sparks a lot of great conversations along the way!! :) I hope to get a 1:1 off-roader some day!
Cool vid man! Keep em coming!
More to come! I'm working on the CRAWL version of this hike. :) :) :) Stay tuned!
Amazing!
Thank you! Cheers!
Awesome views! Sedona is beautiful. Not surprised that the loose rock/dirt along the trail made for tough navigation. Do you remember what the total assent was from base to the summit you ended up at?
Thanks, 'Slaw! :) Sedona is around 4350ft. Bear Mountain summit is a little over 6400ft. and around 5 miles round trip. I believe I went 1.25 to maybe 1.5 miles, so based on some other sites I've researched, I may have ascended around 900-1000ft. I packed TOO MUCH stuff! My pack was around 20-25 pounds with both crawlers (I never even got out the 1/18th scale jobber) and all of the other necessities. You honestly don't need much, except for sunscreen, a good amount of water (the trail authorities recommend 1 gallon per person), and a couple of snacks. I WILL GO BACK ONE DAY!!! :)
Are those shrink RC body mounts for the body??
YES! :) ...and they're great!! I actually talk about them with more detail in my Part 1 video here: ua-cam.com/video/j9O5VjmECdo/v-deo.html No joke, probably a day or two before I posted the first video, Jesse had actually modified the mounts to be a little shorter so that you don't have to cut the Mojave back panel. LOL It was really no biggie, but he's definitely great to work with. :) Thanks for the post!!
Wow man that thing sure can climb
Thanks for the comment @bobbyyoung770!! :) :) :) Yes, I was REALLY surprised at how well this performed right out of the box. It's quite a little truck!
Only thing I seen that's a weakness on that truck obviously the factory servos which were really fast for being Factory but burnt up within no time and then it has torque twist apparently now they're selling an axle for the rear end before you can flip it and hook it to the other output shaft on the rear of the transmission and be able to get rid of that torque twist but I think they only sell the booger in aluminum why would you have a rear aluminum axle in a plastic up front
Yeah, I try to remain a little ginger on the steering to keep the stock servo as long as I can, but I already have that high on the list for future upgrades. :) Given the exceptionally low weight of this tiny rig, it seems torque twist is pretty common. I agree, doesn't make sense to just do the rear; but at the same time, it doesn't make sense to turn a $165 truck into a $300+ truck plus another $100+ in other upgrades (unless you're intentionally doing something with it, like comps). I'm not knocking other guys that want to do that (go for it!), but I don't have an endless income, ad money, or sponsors, so I can put up with the torque twist and focus on the more affordable upgrades like brass hubs, wheels, etc. Otherwise, I'll put it toward my 1/10 rigs. I appreciate the comments!! Keep crawlin' !! :) :) :)
It is so choice! A stellar performer!
