      Usually after each painting session or after it gets a little heavy. We let them dry over a few days if we're not using them consistently. Then we just break it off the stencil using our hands or a scraper

    Just a random idiot here, but can anyone tell me whats with the sand? Is it to make the paint have "texture" so its harder to stripped by traffic, Or is it for something else entirely?

    • @doinglines9587
      @doinglines9587 2 роки тому

      The sand you are referring to is actually reflective glass bead (it does feel like sand and is fine like sand). This drops into the MMA and sticks to it close to the surface. At night in the dark, your headlights on your vehicle will reflect off the glass bead in the MMA making the lines visible as you drive. If you watch the point when the yellow is being sprayed you will see the glass bead form a faint rainbow on the screen as the sunlight reflects off of it too. You're no idiot, you're a curious watcher. This is really interesting stuff to work with. Thanks for the comment!

    Painting perfection again, just as I expected! Nicely done coverage by cross spraying! Could you have suggested perhaps to the client about using beads in the crosswalk markings? I always look forward to your next job videos. Keep up the great work and Happy New Year to you and the family!

    • @doinglines9587
      @doinglines9587 2 роки тому

      Usually the customer asks for beads on the blocks straight away. We do also suggest it if we believe the circumstances should have them if they don't request it. This was a crosswalk within a parking lot so beads were not as necessary compared to crosswalk blocks across a roadway. Thanks for watching and Happy New year to you as well!

    Hi there, My name is Joe, and I live in Washington state. I currently have a professional window cleaning buisness, but have been thinking of doing some striping on the side for some extra cash. What do you think a good happy medium price would be charging by the linear foot, and also how to charge for stencil work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, god bless 🙏🏼

    This was really fun to watch. I have a question tho. How do you know which type paint to use on different surfaces? And also, how do you know where and when to start/stop on any given line?

    • @doinglines9587
      @doinglines9587 2 роки тому

      Type of paint usually comes down to the customers preference. Some ask for regular road paint while others ask for a higher quality road paint, while other jobs can ask for thermo or MMA. All types will stick to asphalt or concrete but for differing amount of times based on a number of factors such as traffic, temperature. In terms of knowing where to start and stop for stall lines we usually mark a stall width mark and then an end of stall mark together then we know where to start. In this video we are painting the centrelines so starting wherever is fine and then we end at the curb and then we circle back to head towards the curbs on the other side of the row to finish off the centreline. When doing double rows our machine will measure off how long it has painted and stop when it hits a desired length. Then it can measure off a space/aisle length before starting a new line. This machine we have to calibrate regularly and then can set it to automatically spray when required, ex. 40ft line-20ft aisle. This only works when doing double rows however; if we are doing single stall lines up to curbs then we have to measure off parking area length and mark each stall within that area with chalk then we paint using of those marks. Hopefully that answer your questions, it's pretty interesting stuff. Thanks for the comment!

    • @doinglines9587
      @doinglines9587 2 роки тому

      If you watch the most recent video on the channel, (Parking lot Painting - Episode 2) you will see the machine in action doing the painting and then stopping once its measured off the desired length. Check that one out if you get the chance. Thanks again
