Rail Spike Productions
Приєднався 5 бер 2016
Rail Spike Productions is the home of unique railroad videography, primarily from around the Northeastern USA but with many other various locations included. My name is Nate and I do my best to find and document tons of interesting and unusual trains that are not seen by many others. I am normally able to post new videos 2 or 3 times each week. All content posted on this channel belongs to me and may not be used without my consent. My photography can be viewed on Instagram on @rail_spike_productions, which is linked below. I hope you enjoy my content as much as I enjoy making it.

About this video: In July and August of 2024, one of the sets of equipment that operates round trips on Amtrak’s Downeaster Between Brunswick, ME and Boston, MA featured one of Amtrak’s 40th anniversary “Phase III” heritage units on each end. F40PH-NPCU (Non-Powered Control Unit) 90406 was on the south end of this consist while P42DC 145 was on the north end. I first caught up with this consist on Downeaster train 688 at the Haverhill, MA station on 7/12/2024 (the first clip in this video). I was next able to see this set on 8/7/2024 operating on Downeaster 684 at Cross Road in Ward Hill, Haverhill and on Downeaster 685 at the West Medford MBTA station. The final view of this train that I was able to get was filmed at the Anderson Regional Transportation Center in Woburn, MA on 8/8/2024 as the set operated on train 682.

That was at Cross road in the Ward Hill part of Haverhill MA. There are some more details in the description
@ thanks!
Great Video Nate!
Thanks :)
Probably the best downeaster set this year, nice video
Definitely up there with that 90406/90224/100 combo! Glad you enjoyed the video
what a nice time of year
Good video Nate
Thank ya sir
That was a fun set! Nice video!
Sure was. I’m glad you enjoyed !
Where’s the gate💀💀💀💀💀
If my memory serves me correctly Fore River Railroad had that lease along with 2 locomotives from Precision leasing... unknown if Fore River still has the 3 lease items
So dumb he should have went through, no he stop at the tracks he had time dumb ass.😅😅
Very Very cool
Thank you
Appreciate you're using good microphones, my sub woofer was kicking out some realistic rumble. Thanks.
I’m very glad to hear that! Thanks for watching
Why no gates?.
I still remember how small this crossing used to be, it was only 2 tracks with only 2 small crossing gates and that was it lol
No safety gates?
Big sign says “DO NOT STOP ON TRACKS “ yet they do it anyway
Normally, I would love to see the crossing signals, but old railroad equipment & units are more important. I love this!!!!💖
Bro what! I think this crossing might be the biggest of USA.
Update: 1500, 1519 and 1523, which were sent to Kinki Sharyo for overhaul in late December 2019, have officially been scrapped. This was because the number of MBB coaches to be overhauled was reduced due to service reductions, this happened in 2022. These were originally cab control cars that would have their cabs stripped and rebuilt to blind trailer coaches, renumbered to 539, 541 and 542. Also, BTC-3 coaches 525 and 529 were overhauled as “Office Cars” and not for revenue service. 525 is named “The Minuteman” and 529 “The Constitution”. The complete end of the single level coaches is coming up fast, so rail fans catch the single decks while you still can. In early 2025, the remaining single level blind trailer coaches, which includes 200s, 300s and 600s, will start being phased out of service, with the last ones expected to be phased out by the end of 2027. All the cab control coaches, which includes the 1500s and 1600s have already been fully phased out with the last of the Messerschmitts running in December 2023, along with two blind trailers, 520 and 533. The last of the Bombardiers, 1647, died on July 11, 2024. May the 1500s and 1600s and all single level coaches rest in peace 1987-2024. All remaining single level coaches (in service, as of December 2024, are above 35 years old).
What exactly was the issue with 1126?
My special needs son loves trains 🚆🚂🚃🚄🚅🚆🚇🚈🚉🚊🚝🚞🚋🛤🚟 especially F40PH's and cabooses! He thinks cabooses are highly underrated pieces of rolling stock and they shouldn't have been replaced by the flashing rear end device. They should just leave the caboose where it was and installed the end of train device onto it.
I would also love to see cabooses back on mainline freight. But with smaller train crews than there used to be, it would be hard to convince railroads to put empty cabooses on the backs of trains
@rail_spike_productions Well thank you for your reply we appreciate it God bless you 🙏♥️🇺🇲🇮🇱🌬🌈🤝🫂🐑🦁🏔🍞🐏✡👑🗡🛡🪨🤴😇📖📜🕊🔥✝️ John 3:16
aaaaaa you gotta tell me this xD
Sorry about that lol I didn’t think about letting you know with a UA-cam comment
Awesome catch
Thanks again
You are very welcome
Nice 👍
Thanks !
Woww that’s a huge railroad crossing 👍😎 and good catch
Thank you !
Nice!
Thank you
Do you know what there leasing it for? GREAT VIDEO!
Thanks! I put some details about it in the description
@@rail_spike_productionsThanks!
4 tracks all thoes red lights make me think this a quiet zone at first.
I don’t know, do you think that’s enough lights?
I would think they might not even that many if there were gates in place 😂
no
Well let me know if you can find a bigger one
I find it funny the gates aren’t there but the little holder doohicky is there. Are they even gonna add gates or what’s the plan
Wonderful question - I wish I knew the answer 😂 I first came to this crossing in 2021 and it looked nearly identical to how it does today, so it sure seems like they’re not prioritizing adding gates
@@rail_spike_productions I mean the rare left to right traffic signals help after all...its more rare to see those types of signals as those are mainly seen in Texas!
@@rail_spike_productions What im thinking is, the road was widened, thus prompting the massive cantilever and all the lights, BUT due to the low train traffic, gates are needed here just yet, so they haven't been installed, either that OR the railroad is waiting for the road works here to be completed before installing gates. I've seen this happen many times. A railroad crossing gets upgraded, with lights, bells, gate mechs, ect, but the gates come much later, sometimes years later.
they plan on putting in a median since the road project isnt done yet. ones those are on there adding 2 aditional signals and then probably put those gates in, its been like that for 4 years now
Wow! That’s a huge cantilever! In Waldorf, Maryland there’s a four-lane cantilever which I knew was massive at the time.
Average sized railroad crossing in Florida lol
Yup, it’s another world down there 😂
Wow, amazing railroad crossing
That is huge 😳 i think there some like that down in Florida thst is the biggest that i have ever seen
Yes there actually is, a little smaller tho.
Trains, planes and automobiles! Seems to me, the trucker stopped on the tracks long before the train arrived...MISTAKE! If you can't make it across, do not stop on RR tracks. He needs training.
Can we say moron
The Wabco E2 that's my favorite horn. Too bad the major railroads don't use it anymore
Full color LOKOMOTIF
Nicely done sweet catches ❤I love that CV caboose and the NY central 😀 that heritage unit looks sweet also😊
Thank you very much! And I absolutely agree
Awesome video
Glad you liked it
I Did and you are very welcome
Nice. I caught a couple short videos in Gloucester and Melrose of 1129 in the cranberry paint. Both are posted in my short feed. It looks sharp.
Ah, very cool. I have also enjoyed seeing it running around the north side - gives us more variety and keeps things interesting!

Really nice video! Hope the fire didn't do too much damage? Love seeing NYC paint.
Thank you! And I don’t believe the damage was too bad thankfully, just enough to get it out of service for a while
Welcome to the foam fest
