Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) and VATSIM flight #146 - Seattle, WA to Las Vegas, NV
VATSIM EVENT - "Sierras FNO" (KLAS)
Edited for time: A flight from Seattle, WA to Las Vegas, NV . I'm not a pilot, so my procedures may not be correct, but it's a lot of fun regardless :). There's always something new to learn. I've gotta give the controllers a lot of credit for having to deal with newcomers and experts alike.
If you're addicted to sim-flying like myself, I highly recommend getting involved in VATSIM.

Although this took a few hours to put together, I wanted to show the effects of when you swap out various computer parts and examine the performance. What I learned was that an imbalanced system can actually decrease performance, rather than improve it. Mixing a weak processor with a high performance graphics card did nothing but make FPS worse in Microsoft Flight Simulator. Parts swapped: - AM...

Hello dear, I hope you are well. I visited your UA-cam channe Sky173. Your content is excellent. But your channel isn't growing because your content title and description aren't optimized for SEO and don't have enough ranking tags. This is why no content reaches the top of UA-cam. As a result, the SEO score of your video is very low. According to VidiQ, (The video SEO score of your channel is 0 / out of 100, which should be 80+). If you want I can increase it to 80+ which will help your channel grow faster. If you reference your videos correctly, the progress of the channel will bevery soon and subscribers and views will increase. If you want, I can troubleshoot and help you rank your videos better. If you are interested, let me know.
shoulda landed manually
why did the atc wants the traffic to disconnect? i didnt hear it correctly
You must mean at 1:59... The controller was extremely busy at this time, and there wasn't much time to correct for pilots who make mistakes. At this time there were 20+ planes in his control and nearly 100 more inbound. It was insanely busy.
@@sky173 love it
Man I was almost in this video. Once you started recording I was handed off to tower or possibly already landed and at the gate.
At least you were a part of it! It was so fun! :)
@@sky173 not sure if you were looking on vatsim radar. But I was AAL4785
what do u use for head motion in msfs it looks really nice!
The only thing I use for head motion is the right mouse button (view/pan around when holding). It's been broken for a few years since MSFS became available for Xbox. See here: forums.flightsimulator.com/t/still-cant-control-the-aircraft-while-looking-around-with-mouse-right-click-and-in-msfs2020-never-will-be-able-to/641869 Thanks for commenting.
So lucky it was a 54 knot headwind and not crosswind 😂
bro i wish i would be put into such scenario on vatsim lol, would put my knowledge to the test
Just do it! :)
Nice vid! What are your pc specs aswell by the way?
Thanks for watching. This was my 116th flight on the VATSIM network. My current PC specs are: ASUS TUF Gaming X570 Plus Mobo with a 5800X3D (upgraded from a 3600X), cooled by a Noctua NH-D15 chromax Black ASUS TUF 4070Ti Super OC edition (upgraded from a 2060 Super) 32GB G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series memory (2 x 16GB) ...and 4.5TB of storage spread over various drives I don't use frame gen because it gives me too many issues, although when I reduce some settings it works fine and can double frame rates at times. ua-cam.com/video/HXOHBFsaciM/v-deo.html
I think it was a tailstike, but you didn't even pitch the nose up 10 degrees as shown on the PFD.
Actually, I found out this was an old known bug that PMDG knew about. Thanks for commenting.
Great video,thanks!
Yeah, well, just turn crashes off. I've had that once in asbobo planes when the PMDG or Fenix weren't released yet, and then I just turned that off. But idk why it happens. Great Video xD
nice
yeah, upgrading a system shows the differences...in the last comparison, DLSS and frame generation really makes a huge step about run the sim so smooth...but, although DX 11 with ultra settings and without DLSS frame generation is ON, you can also take double FPS using Losless Scaling program...so, you don't have to open DLSS frame generation while you are using Losless Scaling program...
Thank you for this video benchmark. I understand that my fps in MSFS are low due to my CPU (i5 10400F) with my GPU (3060 12GB). As you said it's a problem of "imbalanced systems components". I will buy a new i7 11700K for this. Thank you again 🙌✈
I would recommend getting the fastest CPU that you can afford or save your money for the next generation CPU/Motherboard combo. Even my 5800X3D has issues. I hope it's fixed with FS2024. Your 3060 should be fine for FS2020 with a fast CPU. Good luck!
@@sky173 Ok! thanks!
this is really a good comparison. it would be even better if you could add frametime into the RTSS display. alternatively the ingame FPS counter would give you a bunch of more extra details.
Interesting that you never showed the initial collision. Kinda feels like a waste of my time.
Isn't it horrible when you waste your own time? lol
I wonder what the average temperature for the whole accreting matter would look like in time. Between 1:00 and 2:00 we see the disk start to glow. Does the temperature increase linearly, or was it due to spike in friction when the matter become colliding in large clumps of sattelites instead of freely moving dust?
That's hard to say but based on my observations, collisions appear to be biggest cause for heat generation. I have seen heat radiation on a small scale as a large hot body comes close to a cooler body. In one simulation, I let it run for a few hours. The accretion disk stabilized in temperature. It was hottest closest to the planet, so maybe friction is a factor. Honestly, I've only started using this software a few days ago, so I don't know much about it. It's really impressive but it's really CPU intensive. The developers channel can be found here: ua-cam.com/channels/jE321RWl8cl1AzcnLRoyrw.html
I'm running a 5900x with the 4070 ti Super, 64GB 3200, WD Black SSD 2TB with most settings on Ultra. 1440.... Routinely maintaining 100-120 FPS, with sometimes lower when multiplayer crowds landing at busy airports (CPU bottleneck, I think). I don't feel the need to update this rig right now, not until (or IF) 2024 ever comes out. i haven't found anything this rig won't run. BTW, I use it for video editing, too... that was the choice of the 5900x.
As you can see in the video, I recently switched from a 2060 Super (8GB) to the 4070TI Super (16GB) to get about a 20% increase in performance without DLSS/frame generation. I also had to switch out my CPU for the 4070 to work effectively. Based on the original price of a 2060 super and a AM4 3600X, the cost to switch was 180% more, for a modest 25% increase in performance. *Again, this is without DLSS/frame gen.* Have we reached as far as we can with hardware technology to get good FPS? Now we have to resort to this AI 'frame gen' to give the illusion that it is better? Is it really an 'illusion' or is it really better. What are your thoughts?
Really good video!
Vidio anda ❤ sangat bagus
Wow💛🧡🧡💛🧡💚💚💚💛
i COULDNT IMAGINE spending 1 hour to setup the plane, then have this happen on takeoff. Immediate delete of MSFS
Love the realism, especially when ice starts building up on the windshield..
Very cool demonstration of how MSFS simulates icing! BTW, the acronym/technique we use to get out of that spin stall you entered is P.A.R.E Power Idle Alerons Neutral Rudder in the opposite direction of spin Elevator forward
Thanks! I did not know that.
Just so the keyboard warriors don’t get all iced up, that is a 172.
edited! Thanks!
That last angle was terrible. I guess you couldn't get closer to the point of impact. We're you able to get a good exterior shot of what control surface locked up?
I could have gotten closer, this was just an experiment. It was from a random point on the mountain and what it may look like should you happen to see this in real time. I attempted to get a closer shot on the mountain side, and it really didn't look that good either. I didn't bother to check control surfaces. I was looking more at the gauges. Maybe next time. Thanks for commenting.
@Sky173 it did look real from a hikers pov. I was just expecting it to hit right in front of the camera. LoL. Next one you could do a few angles of the crash, maybe even a slow motion shot. A lot of people have been using MSFS to recreate real accidents. I think it's really cool.
Why not just use VATSIM
I do use Vatsim when time allows. This is an old video when MSFS first came out. It's just a bug report I shared.
i would just turn off crashing since I get random moments on the ground sometimes in any plane where the game glitches out and kills me
The PMDG isn't compatible with the MSFS damage as it's unrealistic. You should definetly turn it off, same thing happened to me in the Fenix
My problem was the Your Cotrols Mod
I keep having this issue flying the a310 on xbox series s. Did you fix this problem? If so, how?
Nice view! Did they ever add the EFB?
Not for this plane (as of posting this video). I only have the 737-600. Maybe the other models have it, but I'm not sure. Maybe '737NG Driver' can help answer your question. ua-cam.com/video/HsVeGvEGqRY/v-deo.html

I have this exact same issue and have tried various fixes suggested on the FS forums but no luck. Did you manage to fix the issue?
Try switching to the Nvidia 'Studio' drivers. That may just work for you. I think that's what fixed it for me, but I honestly can't remember. It's been quite a while since I've seen this issue.
so no fix?
of course not. There are more ships to sell. lol
Easily fixed by picking up a box. Caused by using the "Store" interaction.

So true.
Pretty cool. Never watched such a thing before. I was always awed watching them by the local airport as a young fella.
