Apologies but some of the footage is a bit blurry due to a dud camera lense and of course transfers from video tape era equipment, but the Visions presented are still a capture of activities we will likely never see again.

First Train Movement on the New Morley to Ellenbrook Railway
On the 26th August 2024 the first train was moved onto the New Morley to Ellenbrook Metronet Railway using EMU set 91. As I was finishing work at a similar time I decided to watch it at a couple of places before heading home to bed.

Great footage,
Seven news outdo music goes hard
Scenes that were regularly seen all across the UK at the time! Thanks for uploading! Amazing all them people on or near the track at Carrog!
Even now can Don river railway trains run on Tasrail?
Not that I am aware of
Hi is it still operating the little loco
How long will the testing for the Ellenbrook line be?
Testing was completed over a week ago - driver training is now in process and will be mostly complete in time for a public opening
@@neilblinco1213 how long will the Ellenbrook line testing take?
@@neilblinco1213 how long will the driver training be on Ellenbrook line?
They are now doing timetabled testing and running at line speed with multiple trains on both tracks
Actually they are doing driver training
@@neilblinco1213 Yeah while doing timetabled testing
@@redblanket17709 have the platforms been built for 6-car trains and are they planning to run them as 6-cars or is this only 3-car for now?
@@BigBlueMan118 Yeah the platforms are built for 6 car trains, there are even 6 car stop markers
@@redblanket17709 when will they put passenger services on the Ellenbrook line?
ive awarded you a gold star for patience and persistence for waiting for that train to get to the places you filmed it. i wonder what an emergency stop would look like at 5kmh. watching a train at 10kmh and 5kmh is a better aid to sleep than counting sheep
Yup its a bit of slow TV but it is a BRAND NEW railway and the very first real train on it, so slow was the requirement - to be fair the slow speed did allow me to get ahead of it to other locations that would have otherwise been unobtainable when normal services commence at high track speeds.
@@neilblinco1213 , we dont want your car getting squashed by coppers for hooning while speeding to the next location. it seems theres a lot of it about at the moment according to saturday's west australian. the track has had ballast trains all over it and they wouldnt have been doing 5kmh through stations. or were they?
@@vsvnrg3263 it has not had any ballast trains on it - all done with machines and materials delivered by trucks
@@neilblinco1213 , omg! that is an expensive way to do it. 5kmh it is then! i will watch to see how they do it opposite my place in cannington. they've put tracks down between cannington and beckenham. and catenary poles are up at queens park.
Hi What is happening with the rolling stock at Pinjarra can they be operating
I prefer this Prospector to the new one.
Fantastic footage
Only just found this!, very nice!,,,, i think i might know who was firing that, on that trip.......
Beautiful Train
Just been looking through some family home videos on Video8 tapes, incredibly the old camcorder still works! ... Found some footage taken at Whistlestop. I remember Whistlestop Miniature Railway, in it's heyday it was very popular with the kids (including the grown up ones!!). I remember going there as a teenager in about 2003. So sad to hear that it closed down. I can still remember the TV ad jingle, "All aboard for Whistlestop, on the Vasse Highway near Busselton..." Grainy Google Earth imagery shows the deterioration of the site over the past 15-20 years :( ... Memories...

Feels like yesterday
What a shame she is now sitting in a shed going nowhere with little or no hope of ever running mainline passenger services again. We really need a rethink on mainline access for tourist/heritage rail here in Western Australia. If it can be done over East I am sure we can do it here. All we need is somebody with some balls to allow this to happen. We are seriously missing out over here with no mainline tour trains at all. Way past time for change.
Beautiful country Neil, love the sound. thanks. 20:16
Wonderful footage
It was worth it,looks great.
Magic
Railway Post Office trains lasted 30 years longer in Britian than they did in America.
Why does it no longer go to Northcliffe?
Limited demand from time poor travelers who would choose the shorter journeys rather than the day trip was the main reason - not enough return to justify the costs of maintenance over the length of the line. Nature would soon take over.
Boans is being demolished ... Probably the people who wanted it gone were Burkie's mates.
I think 861 was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works
861 was built by Couillet in Belgium in 1886, with the builders number of 861. The current owner modified her to look like an early US loco because that's what he wanted. The original look was almost exactly like Carbon (builders number 986).
A lovely series, unforgettable
1:42 ah, the memories 👍👍👍
I spent alot of time in my teenage years volunteering at the GVR. I moved away in the 80s. Was there for the station opening and again for the 40th anniversary. The Christmas lights events are spectacular and it's great to see the Railway prosper.
They categorically ruin Perth know wonder know one wants to go there
Very sad
Way behind European rail standards Cheaper than driving though, just saying.
This was 1987

Thank you for making this video! You just saved me many $$$ in fees to get it looked at, because here i was hitting the dang thing sideways until it clicked to get the key out scared of doing more damage! I have cleaned and re-lubricated the silver tab, however it still isnt engaging 100% of the time. I am yet to take off the other plastics around centre console to further inspect; however I know know its just a small tab contact and not the shifter mechanism! THANKYOU
When did we stop progressing on rails? Such a shame
Wow,hasn't perth grown up since then, the next building to get demolished is carillon city, this year,it runs from murray st mall to hay street mall and it was 4 floors high. Now its going to be modern and ugly.like the picadilly arcade, that's now has a tiny walking area, but the shops are twice as big. The art deco was brilliant before, now its dark and dinghy. No atmosphere at all now.
Great video.
Aap kaise ho ❤
I love it
Excellent layout used to work grain trains through Bencubbin sadly not much left just the loop and CBH at the Mukinbudun end of the station. The station building is now the local police station.
Very nice footage of our trains. Some of these are still running to this day!
The first scene is of ex Queensland Railways suburban passenger carriages. The were air braked as opposed the Westrail’s other narrow gauge rolling stock. The locomotive was a X class diesel. As best I can remember this video is prior the the Perth electrification. Really exciting time to be living in Perth.
They were bought to Perth to cater for increased patronage during the Americas Cup.
Is this from 1987?
That S class looks fantastic.
Great stuff Neil! 😊
Ta Brian sadly I didnt get much footage but it does cover it mostly
Hard to believe it was over 20 years ago!
Yes I believe the last TPO services ran on 9 January 2004 so pretty much twenty years ago.
@@neilblinco1213Heck - I was there!
More great footage Neil. A scene that has now been relegated to history.
Hi Neil. I'm curious to ask, how were your turntables operated considering the older rollingstock were vacuum brakes? I know westinghouse, but not really seen or understood your brake system. Cheers Adrian.
Adrian most of the WAGR turntables were balance tables with only the more modern tables being electrically powered or converted to electric. Vacuum powered turntables seem to have been a thing in the UK but to my knowledge we had none. Vacuum brake equipment is still in use on all heritage equipment (as originally fitted) in operation in WA today except where air was fitted on more modern diesels. Vacuum Brake was simple to achieve with steam locomotives, it requiring minimal machinery and moving parts etc as well as being a fail safe system. This is a good description of how Vacuum brakes work - ua-cam.com/video/kqV1JKuKAdY/v-deo.htmlsi=ttiO0a73zfzHplEU
@@neilblinco1213 so basically your turntables were hand cranked or pushed around, before they were fitted with electric motors. The poor beggars, had to work for their money then. I had the pleasure of operating ones fitted with and without air motors. Thanks for the explanation.
@@adriannettlefold9084 As far as I know we had none hand cranked - all were balance tables - even the biggest of locomotives could be spun easily if balanced correctly so yes Pushed to start and then it was likely relative to how much vegetation had grown in the pit encroaching on the underside girder space as to how much pushing was required
That how an engine should be worked. The blokes working her had her set right, little smoke, sweet exhaust cut off. I have always admired the WA V and W Classes. If only Queensland had of done likewise. Our BB18 1/4 engines were good to drive, but never sounded as nice as that, neither could they or the much old C19 class ever pull as much. Our Garratt was capable of 1300ton but never ever hauled that much in service. Thanks for sharing. I'm enjoying my WA holiday and hope to visit Hotham Valley and Pinjarra before I head home. Cheers.
