I am a beginner knitter and I will knit
The maroon and the olive green go great together. You two should wear them at the same time. They look great!
Thank you for this beautiful video and the information ❤ I dddint really understand what you're explaining talking about the sheer v sweater. What do you have to pin before blocking??? Does anyone understood? ❤
I have to agree with the outline tee. I was on gauge and it was huge. It could be that the designer pays attention to the tension when she is swatching, but naturally knits tighter
Amanda, your wedding shawl is sooo AMAZING! Congratulations!!! Virginia, I love your Lento! Good luck on getting your WIPs back on track! You can do it!
You guys are just the cutest!! I need to catch up on all your videos now! Love the idea of the finish or frog. I want to do that with our knit group sometime so we all have the moral support to make hard decisions!
Just added the Dear Duomo to my make list! Your collar is SO clean Amanda! Thanks for the image of the Leafbird also, I was def questioning how your project was going to turn into a cardigan, Virginia 😅. Sometimes you just have to trust the pattern.
Virginia those blue and purple slippers look like they’d make great holiday stockings if you never get around to fixing them.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who struggles with weird lines created by BOR markers. It drives me nuts 😅
Great video! It was so lovely to meet you ladies at Flock! You got a great haul and I’m already ready for next year 😂. Your wedding shawl is looking amazing 🤩
yesss!!! Frog or finish I love this idea :)
LOVE the concept for the episode, especially the graphic of how your purchasing plans went. I’m glad you all enjoyed Ballard as well. Hope to see you next year!
Oh man! Bummed to miss Flock this year. Gotta make it next year
Definitely worth the trip next year! Thanks for watching :)
That was so fun seeing your plans and what you ended up getting. Your yarn choices are GORGEOUS!! ❤
Thank you so much! We're so excited to knit with the new yarn :)
I’m currently knitting the Inclinations Shawl by DRK. Am using Spincycle and the color changes and fade are keeping me well engaged! It’s a great pattern for learning half Fisherman’s Rib and the I-cord edging adds a beautiful finish right from the start! Off to Flock tomorrow!
That sounds so lovely! We hope you had a wonderful time at Flock!
Another fun episode! Loving the EKF haul…I’m hoping to pick some of those up during flock
Thanks Shreya! We hope you were able to get the Flock yarn that you wanted :)
I'm part of the karma chameleon sock crew too 😅
Ahh hi Hope! Yay that's great to hear about the socks - matching knits for the win :)
omg zuko popping out when you start talking about the azor is precious!!!
Hehehe that’s my favorite part too :)
I had fixed needles and I thought “omg how did they get bent?!” My husband straightened them with a vice. Then I went to a yarn shop and saw they sell them bent, which is “ergonomic.” How did I not notice for the whole hat I knit with them?
It’s funny how it’s easy to not notice isn’t it!? I’m going to see if I can straighten it out though.
I Impulse bought the cotton yarn she used for her vellichor because she said it was discontinued. So that’s definitely in my queue. I have knit the shift cowl and really enjoy it! I used a superwash DK tweed and so its bigger than its supposed to be, but its still super cozy and i wear it a lot. I recently knit the old port hat with my handspun and a sport weight alpaca yarn and i love that one. Annnnd i knit the free your fade shawl, which i also love but it took me forever haha. Looking forward to watching your Jessie maed video. The cozy classic light raglan was my very first sweater and i think the fit is perfect. I would definitely knit another.
Thanks for watching!! Those all sound like fantastic knits :)
Hello!! I’m so happy to find someone who’s knit the So Summer top! I’m a beginner at making garments and this may have been a bigger challenge to tackle than i’m ready for. I’m a little stumped at understanding how to separate the front from the back and knit flat! Do I hold the stitches for one side on spare yarn while I work the other?
So happy to hear that you are knitting the So summer, I think that you'll love it! Yes, you can place the the back stitches on a stitch holder while you work the front. You'll simply work row 1, then turn the work to work it flat rather than keep going at the side stitch marker. Hope that helps!
I love both your Rifts!! I would love to hear about your sewing projects incorporated into your episodes! And Amanda, I’m struggling with a stripey tank also, there are soooo many ends 😫
Ah thanks Leslie! Stripes are so hard, but yours came out so well!!! I think the secret is just to not weave in the ends lol
So happy to watch another episode! Can't wait for the matching look at my holes and shorts fit!! I would be happy to see some sewing episodes too! :)
Thanks! Then potentially stay tuned for that!
love all the rifts! Did you use one strand with 5mm needles? It doesn't look "holey" at all..
That's right! The pattern calls for one strand using 5mm or US8 needles.
I love both of your summer knits! I actually have a few skeins of the santolina and now I'm convinced to cast on a Rift tee today 😍
You totally should!
Being a spreadsheet lover…I love the idea of keeping notes to then be more organized for festival buying ❤ also inspired to try several of your current fos/wips
I'm so glad! Thanks for watching.
Thanks...never tried her yet. Wondering what that hot pink yarn behind you is... I ❤️ it!
The pink is a brushed mohair from Kaos Yarn! Thanks for watching :)
Should you go up a needle size for the yoke color work to prevent tenting? (Or down a needle size for body and sleeves).
Hi Kim, thanks for watching! That's a great question. Amanda tends to go up a needle size for colorwork, but it depends on gauge. We suggest doing a swatch in both colorwork and stockinette to see how your gauge compares between the two! Happy knitting :)
Could you also add if the patterns are paid for or free? Loving your podcast. I’ve knit a LOT of Thea Colman patterns. Check her out. She lives cables.
Great suggestion! We don't tend to knit many free patterns, so you can assume the ones we've mentioned have been paid. The exception are patterns we've knit by Purl Soho! We can try to call out if a pattern is free in future episodes :)
I love her patterns but the finished piece never seems to fit me quiet right. I think they’re a great jumping off point for mods. Glad to see I’m not entirely alone here!
Thanks for watching! There's something so powerful about being able to adjust knits to fit our bodies! It's one of the best things about it for sure!
Jessie Maed was the first designer I discovered and I've made a few of her patterns since then! I love how detailed she is, plus she is the summer garment queen
Thanks for watching - we're glad you enjoyed it! We agree, truly the person to turn to for amazing summer patterns!
Thanks for sharing your work. Would you be able to insert pictures of the wips you are working on in the finished state?
Great suggestion, thanks! We'll try to add that to future episodes.
Very nice girls. Lots of useful info. X
Thank you 🤗 We're glad you enjoyed it!
Ok fine 🙄 you convinced me… I’ll get the pattern tee 😂
Ooh you won't be disappointed!
Elizabeth Zimmerman invented the hold in place mock side seam. Credit where credit is due. She is the mother of us all. Thanks for sharing her with us, Meg.
Oh I didn't know that! Thank you so much for sharing :)
So fun! So happy to have found your channel.
Thank you! Glad you're enjoying it!
Petal party crop kal would be quiteeeee fun
It would :)
This is so much fun! I love your questions and your joy for knitting. So glad I came upon your channel and I would love to knit the petal! 💕
Thank you! So happy you're enjoying it!
Hey ! I am discovering your nice podcast and love it. I suscribe ;) i am Sylvette from Paris, France (so excuses my language mystakes:). Where are your from ? Love all your knittings and of course, wine ;) could you pls tell me more about the « cumulus » like more inclusive that you mentionned (i didn’t understand from who is was). Thanks in advance :) vivement the next video ❤
Nice to meet you! So glad you are enjoying. Aimee Sher is the designer who wants to come out with that top. It isn't out yet sadly. We'll be sure to talk about it when it does!
Your projects are beautiful!
Thanks so much!
Glad that I found your UA-cam channel😊. I need some knitting friends like you. Your knitting is great!
Thanks so much! It's great to e-meet you :)
🎉👏💜⚘️👍🏻👌🏼❤️
Nice. Thanks. Salty air coming my way 😊
Fun! We can't wait to see yours. It's such a fun pattern.
Loved watching! So impressed with how much you finished Amanda - even your Azor is flying! Also seeing both of your Salty Airs is getting me really excited for all the twiny photos we will take this summer! Virginia what the heck that cardigan! I can't wait to see you wearing it. ~ Natasha
Thanks Natasha!! We can't wait to twin with you as well. Your salty air is inspiration :)
very fun episode. thank you :)
Thank you for watching!!
You’ve made me a fan of NEON and I was strictly against those colours for so long 😂
You just made my (Amanda's) day! I'll continually say that everyone can and should rock neons haha!
Great episode! I just watched watched all your catalogue, perfect for my sunday of knitting x
Aw thank you so much! We're so glad we were able to keep you company for a Sunday of knitting!
So glad I found you two. I am new to knitting and have been knitting shawls and baby blankets. Want to try a sweater but kinda 😱
Thanks so much! If you can knit a shawl, you can knit a sweater! We love Flax by Tin Can Knits as a great first sweater option :)
Loved the episode!! I made a coloring book tee and it’s my favorite spring/fall tee (since I made it in linen quill it’s a bit warm for summer)
Thanks for watching! Linen quill is so nice to work with, but can definitely be a bit warm haha! We love your building blocks by her as well :)
So glad I found your podcast! I love partnered discussions about yarns and designers. Looking forward to seeing more from you two 🥰
Thank you so much! We're glad you're here!!
