Meet Sellah Malanga
Meet Sellah Malanga: Growing up in the serene village of Misuku in northern Malawi, Sellah Malanga’s idyllic childhood memories of towering pine trees and green landscapes were later shattered by the stark reality of deforestation. This realisation sparked her passion for conservation.
Today, as regional manager for Lessons in Conservation, Sellah combines her love for children, education, and nature. Her hands-on programmes, like wildlife education and interactive games, help young minds connect with the environment.
Sellah’s journey-marked by personal loss, determination, and breaking barriers as a woman in conservation-proves that one person can inspire change. Visit our website to read the full blog and learn more about Sellah’s inspiring story!

Great job the carers and adine do everyday for the orphan elephants and herd ! Question: Are there internal programs within the Herd nonprofit organization, that can assist the carers and the carers families? If not , then is it possible programs could be implemented for them ? Anything that helps adine and the carers also will help the elephants , in my opinion.

Going by the HERD UA-cam videos, Adine and her team are quite amazing people. Adine talks about the emotional injury the orphans present with. It seems the elephants pick up empathy and love from the humans caring for them, making their recovery faster.

Much love and hugs to the entire HERD team.

Why do the orphan elephants wear blankets? Knowing that elephants are so intelligent but are restricted to small pens in zoos and chained up in circuses breakd my heart. We humans are inhumane and the cruelest species on the planet. 😢
