Keep moving for a better rhythm when you swing the club
What is the scenario in which you hit your first tee shot into a penalty area, and are now somehow hitting 4? I.e. a 2 stroke penalty
Out of date
You are spewing a lot of crap. Speed has got stuff all to do with flex
Well thank you 👍
Rule 43c applies and clearly states 1) if you have a cheese n ham Sanger in your bag more than 15 days old,it must be offered to the Lady Captain at the clubhouse, she will feed it to her Alsation,or maybe the club secretary, then just go home whilst all the time never turning your back on the Dog ,Oh No ,no siree !
The drop can only be done from knee height. (Rule 14)
How you actually load the shaft in transition is way more important than clubhead speed imo.
This was wonderfully helpful. Thank you!
I swing at average of 98 mph club speed yet only average 220 carry.. has to be technical issue ?
Or where you are hitting it on the face
I just had someone who played professionally that with 105 mile an hour speed a regular is fine. I was asked how far are you hitting it? I said 200 straight and then it goes 40 yds to the right, was told it was my technique. 156 mile an hour ball speed with a regular flex. Getting a stiff flex put on and am told it's not going to help.
The stiff shaft will help you.
@@blakebrasher8884 I believe so as well. The fact that any of these people that seem to know everything won't admit that certain things have an effect on the ball flight is maddening. When I told him my ball flight and my speed he didn't want to admit the flex strength might have something to do with it. I even explained the arc or bow my shaft had at impact from a slow motion video and he seemed to be speechless about arc deviation at impact! I have to slow my speed to about 70% to be consistent and can probably hit about 225 carry consistently. If I can go 85% with a stronger shaft I figure I should be able to hit 240-265 carry consistently. When I told him I could feel the head loosing control he was speechless again. Get my driver back tomorrow and will revisit the conversation then.
looks like that last impact there was pretty negative attack lol
Old info. Knee high drop only
If your club shafts are too stiff, you'll have trouble loading them properly during your downswing. When the clubhead gets to the ball, the shaft won't unload properly and the face will remain slightly open, causing a slice. With club shafts too soft the ball may tend to draw a bit more from the forward bending of the shaft at impact (lead deflection) causing the face to rotate past square to be slightly closed.
X-stiff for 100mph club head speed ? Highly doubt it
Thanks for your expert feedback ! I'm sure the Ping fitting department (their diagram) would love to hear from you 🙄
@@garycaseygolfpro was my pleasure and im sorry i hurt your feelings !
very nice explanation !!thanks a lot
Cheers Gary
Left ears having a good time 😭😭
I’ve been fitted for a reg flex SIM driver and my club head speed is 105mph, carrying 250. Its miles better than my stiff shaft. Doesn’t really agree with the video!
*I love golf my fr👍💞*
Where do you drop if your ball clears the hazard and rolls back entering from the side closer to the green and your nearest point of relief is on that side.?
Wasn’t because of flex the torque was the issue.
My max speed is 115 mph and I use an R-flex.
This is great but my left ear hurts 😂
Wow I always thought the better the golfer the stiffer the shaft. It looks like I need to find out my club speed. Great video.
Thanks Greg, yes that's a common misconception.I saw a beginner golfer recently who was a very good tennis player register club head speed of 110mph. Skill and strength are very different !!
Hi Gary, impressive video. Very useful. I am planning to buy new irons with steel shaft. The speed of my 7i is 85 mph. Should i buy an steel KBS MAX 85 Regular or stiff shaft? I am a little bit lost. I appreciate your professional help.
Hi Javier, both have positives & negatives just depends what is more important to you : KBS MAX 85 REG : Positives = more feel especially short chips Negatives = Wider shot dispersion STIFF: Positives = Tighter shot dispersion Negatives = Less feel Possible loss of distance. Make sure you try both before making your purchase. Best Gary
I swing between 90 to 95. Used a 50g R flex shaft and drove it around 250max. Went to a 70g stiff and drive it around 250max. With similar ball flight.. So I believe this is all bullshit
Hi Kirk Thanks for your feedback much appreciated :)
Can you explain my Dunlop irons shaft. It has on the sticker.....and FM 6.5. PRO MODEL DP 501
More to a shaft than just flex, torque, butt stiffness, kick points etc, and there is no standard for shafts across manufacturers so the average golfer doesn't know what flex they really have, knowing the frequency of the shaft gives a better idea of what flex fits you.
Golf courses are littered with hacks playing extra stiff shafts that can barely break 100. Shaft flex is the biggest dick measuring contest around. Go swing lots of clubs and play the one that feels the best and produces the most consistent results. Who cares if it’s a super duper extra stiff or a senior flex.
Well done Gary. I have tried that. It does work well. :)
What I want to know is are you still active Gary Casey? I subscribed but have not seen any content from you unless maybe I missed it??? :)
Hi Joseph , I'm still coaching but haven't had the time to post any new content since I've moved to my new post at www.pitlochrygolf.co.uk. Best Gary
I think I should use stiff flex for my driver. I swing that club a little harder than my irons which are steel R felx. I went from a slicer/fader my first few years to hitting a natural draw when I got better. My swing has improved but I’ve noticed lately if I don’t hit my driver perfect it’s a long low hook. I don’t have any golf fitting places close to me, so idk if I should switch from a R flex to a stiff flex for my driver. I’m 29 5’8 150lbs.
Nonsense
I am right on the border of regular and soft. My shaft is 43 inches for better control , swing speed about 79 to 81. Using a regular shaft. I have been told swing speed isn't the only consideration for shaft flex. How aggressive a swing is , is also a factor from what I am being told? What do you think Gary? Spider Dubiel
I have been working on this. Doing well with it. Spider Dubiel
I play with hybrids . I usually use a # 5 hybrid to get out of this situation.
Very nicely done. Putting is the strongest part of my game. I practice putting and the short game quite often.
Nice to see you on youtube Gary. I try to learn all I can from watching video's on here. I am on the East Coast of the United States... I love golf ! Best wishes. Spider Dubiel (Joe)
Good stuff. Thanks. Spider Dubiel
True Temper Dynamic Gold. Whats the difference between say a R300 shaft and a R400 shaft? Both are regular but what does the number mean? I'm currently playing R300 in my irons but I've lost distance. I have played stiffer shafts in the past and swallowed my false pride and changed when I needed to but I have lost between 15 to 20 yards off my irons. I have never been long but I was happy with a 5 iron at 160 yards at a steady 80%. I'm fighting to get 145 yards with the same iron. I now the lofts have strengthened over the recent years and maybe the secodary shaft bend before and at impact which increases loft maybe isn't adding the loft that produces the extra carry. Then again, I might well be clutching at straws. I remember playing with a set of Wilson FG49 irons some years ago and they were fitted standard with R400 shafts. I played down to 4 with those. I always had difficulty repkacing broken shafts though. For some reason R400 wasn't a readily available shaft. I'd appreciate your input.
Barney29508 thought R400 was heavier
I don't know. It could be how they produce batches. I'm going to find out from a club maker and get back.
Hi, again. OK - evidently its all to do with slight variations in stiffness. R300 is the most widely available. R400 and R500 and indeed R100 and R200 used to be more available but seem to have been dropped from the range because of the only slight differences in stiffness. If the player snaps one of these rarer shafts, the only way around it is to take a different shaft such as a normal Dynamic, (not a Dynamic Gold) and cut it accordingly to achieve the same bend characteristics. Any weight differences affecting feel, (swing weighting) are made up my lead tape or shaft filler, although copper powder should be avoided as this has a reactive effect with the steel in the actual shaft and a fracture could happen sooner rather than later.

i had to go to stiff to extra stiff shafts. my speed was ruining my game and i was slicing it so bad so thank god the instuctor help me.

Does a stronger tip help the twist? I want something that I can load up but u need a stronger tip so that it doesn't twist the club head. I want something in between stiff and x-stiff. My swing speed is around 100 but it's a quick motion through the ball I don't really have a "smooth" swing it's more of a "swing your swing" type of deal. Anybody have any ideas on a good shaft for my driver?
Can I ask you a question? Have you measured /annalised the following! 1. Extra stiff (35inch) graphite shaft compared to (45inch) same shaft? Doesn't the 45inch naturally bend/flex more because of length difference? 2. Same experiment with steel shafts. 3. Can you proportional differentiate between impact of swing"force" and speed when hitting PW(120y's) and 1Driver((290y's) The impact of this on shaft flex. You don't hit your PW as "hard" as you do your D, do you? 4. Shouldn't all this proof that your flex of shafts will need to differ gradual down from 1D down to SW. In my opinion 9Iron down to all the wedge's, shaft flex, have no significant influenced on accuracy or distance.
It is true. It’s about the whip of the shaft that creates the most energy when hitting if you have a stiff shaft with a swing speed that is too slow to whip the stiff shaft then you taking a loss of yards when hitting but if you have that correct whip for your swing speed you will generate more energy at your strike because of the whip of the shaft according to your swing speed so more whip the more generation of energy which makes a more successful reliable shot. I only ben in the golf game for 1 year and I could tell you that 🤷🏾♂️😉👍🏾 so his chart is giving a accurate idea of what shaft you should be using. Any ways you can check my page out @TheRealLionWoods great video too by the way
Clubhead twists because you don't hit it in the middle...
I’ve only been golfing for 2 to 3 years now and I’m swinging my driver (Which is regular And 1 inch shortened) avg 97 mph. Do you recommend a stiff flex (because of the way I’m swinging right now) or do you recommend a x-stiff shaft (because of the fact that I just started playing and might be going to swing faster). I like to hear your thoughts on this.
Hi Tim My thoughts would be to book yourself in for a fitting with a qualified & experienced club fitter. Too much of a minefield otherwise 👍
Thank you
What do the numbers and letters mean on the Fujikura expedition speedster 565
Absolute balls. I play reg with irons and stiff with driver. It’s more to do with feel and attack angle fo4 want of a better term etc.. also I hit my driver 270-300 yds with 85-90 mph swing.
Wow !! 270-300 yards with 85-90mph swing ... those fairways must be pretty dry :)
Do you play at airports?
He hella lien lol I hate when golfers over calculate and rate themselves
How? Do u get that distance with that speed?
In swing driver about 100-105mph with ball speed around 145. Best I can get with the best club is about 260
