Lorry driver ! ... ??? his father was the sole importer of Bultaco motorcycles ! .... BS grew up with every golden oppertunity open to him ! ... great racer, YES ! ... But don't play the " i was very poor lorry driver and made it on talent alone , card " !!!
This is fantastic the likes of bike racing riders and atmosphere we will never see again such a memorable decade the 70s was, I'm so glad I was around and enjoying it and still riding today and fortunate enough to own and ride 70s machinery thanks so much for posting.
Baz, one of the most genuine, honest decent human beings you could ever meet. I had the honour of meeting him 2001 and 2002 at Donington. He was racing Manx Norton Walmsleys in the classic GPs. An absolute legend, my childhood hero.
Nobody talking about Mr Saarinen here. What a natural talent and super hard worker. I’m sure he would’ve won MANY more championships without the tragic accident in Monza. He was right there if we talk about who was the best and fastest rider in the world in the 70s in my opinion. I mean his 1973 RR season start was phenomenal. Stylish rider and just great person. Gone too soon, RIP.
Barry Sheene makes Lewis Hamilton look a right prat. Love the hairstyles, great commentary from Murray Walker, fantastic racing from Sheene, Roberts, Grant etc. Health and safety not very evident.
Was in the pits all weekend...it was very cold....the Americans were really suffering....a guy landed with lots of Damart thermals for them all...softies 😁
The transatlantic trophy was a great competition, I was at Mallory the year before watching the same riders, sheen won the 500 and retired on the 750, Ago's MV sounded like a bomb going off as it passed by, I paid an extra 50p for pits entry and stood watching Roberts Sheen Ago and all the others work on the bikes with the mechanics, the Americans wore the best clothes, the Japanese smoked the most, Sheen seemed most involved with prepping the bikes of all the riders,
Much loved Men, AShame the system didn't want him after they finished with him. Respect Dennis-Michael: Thompson

in the first 10 seconds those flared trousers and bad hair transported me back to the 70's

Nice to see the man. Sheene is the man.
Dear lord, I'd forgotten all about Kork Ballington.
Tough men
Barry was a fantastic guy, a true gentleman.
Had to have a break for a quick cigarette and a fizzy drink........
3:52 you don’t get that with modern top level car racers anymore
100mph right hander? Wow
nostalgic video, ... BUT tell us F/ ALL ABOUT FREDDYS RIDING TECHNIQUES ... APART FROM "HE HANGS OFF THE BIKE " ... WHICH IS BLOODY OBVIOUS !

It is painful to watch this
Too many talented guys to name here. And Keith Huewen doing the commentary. Great stuff.
Do you have BBC2 NI continuity from the recorded motorbike programmes?
