Truck bed rollout with Rigid Tool Boxes

Truck bed organization using DIY slideout and Home Depot's Rigid Tool Boxes. Rollouts with ball bearing slides are great but it commits your pickup bed to that configuration. I wanted to be able to easily remove this if I needed the bed for other uses. Dodge Ram, Chevy silverado, Ford F series, Toyota Tundra, Nissan Titan. I live in Colorado which is a very dry climate. In more humid environmen...
Rousseau Table saw stand with DIY Out feed table

Rousseau makes a great small table saw portable stand. I like my outfeed table better than theirs, though. I made mine wider and longer and stows about half as thick.
DWX 726 Rolling Miter Stand Extension Wings
Переглядів 31 тис.3 роки тому
The Dewalt DWX726 Rolling Miter Stand comes with slide out bars to assist in holding work to the sides. I love the mobility of the stand but it has limitations so I made the DIY extensions shown in the video. It makes a great miter saw station and is very stable. Sets up quickly
Very helpful video! Thanks!
Great idea, great educational video
Thank you for the video. I can tell that you have a lot of experience and ingenuity. I too watched a lot of UA-cam but your design is by far the best I've seen. Congratulations.
Thanks for the kind words. Check out Insider Carpentry also for a different version for another saw stand. He adds a few more things i didn't need.
Really like the shape of your crown stop. Easy to see the degree marks.
Thanks for the comment. It took a couple of times to get it right.
Do a video how to make the extension
Look up Homecraft solutions for my other videos. I have one called. Miter saw wings. The details or something like that. Thanks. 0:08
Nice setup!
👏👏👏👏👏
Great Video - how did you get the wings level with the wings?
Part of the original stand has a vertical height adjustment of that bar. It also has a horizontal adjustment with a square sleeve. Slides in and out. But up-and-down adjustment can be made and there’s just a set. Screw with a knob that loosens and tightens on the shaft of that, so you can slide it up and down and get the Inside end of your board even with the table.
I just don’t know how many people are using the Roseau saw stand. What would you pay for one including shipping?
That out table, you ever thought about building it for customers?
Very nice setup, I dig your presentation. I too have an 07 Tundra I keep in great condition, I get compliments on it all the time. Thanks for sharing your awesome system...!!!
Thank you for sharing your wisdom, my friend. I will definitely be building a pair for my saw set up.
Yeh I used to live in Ohio. All the salt and humidity. It seems like from about the middle of Kansas and west we don't have a problem with rust. But we do have dry skin and breathing issues due to altitude and dry air. Guess there's no perfect place. Thanks for the comments
That truck in NY, at 14 years would have been in the junk yard rusted 2 times over. The body life span in NY is about 7 years when the rust really stars to get dreadful. Great design on your tables! Well done.
Nice video! Getting ready to make some new wings for myself here shortly. Full wings are so much better than rollers. The 60 degree angle is for stairwork. It's not uncommon to be able to make 52/53 degree angles. My DeWalt 780 has the same compacity as yours. Unfortunately you can't only go past 47 degrees on the left. My old Makita saw swung 55 to the left and 60 to the right. That was a great saw for stairs but had a very short fence making crown and baseboard upright difficult.
Ah. I wondered about the 60 degree angle. Thanks for the comments. I have another video on the details. Look up homecraft solutions to find it.
This is practical! Well done! There is nothing “hack” about it!
Thanks for the comment. I guess you just have to design something that works for your application. I may take some countertop laminate and attach to one piece to make it slide a bit smoother. I just don't want it so slippery that it slides out on its own if I am parked uphill. thanks again.
Simpler designs are the best at times. You have a partial slider. I have a sheet of plywood that's slides on rollers. , then side tool boxes. I guess you need to custom make regardless based on what trade/work you do more of or less of , etc..
Very true. Thanks for the comments
Pretty cool idea. Yeah you cant beat the mobility. But the fact that you can break the Dewalt stand down and store them out of the way is great. I even mounted a 80lb WEN planer on one of them.
Nice job. Did you also make the metal legs?
the legs i got from Harbor Freight and just didn't use the swing out leg on it. I also cut off a part that stuck out on the legs so they would lay flat when folded in. Look under Homecraft Solutions for another video explaining the details of this. Thanks for the comments.
When are you going to make more videos
Brilliant setup!
love it. Sano set up. Dont call it a hack. Because it isnt. Id call it a solution
Glad you like it. I would probably glue a skin of laminate like formica on my next one to help it slide a little better.
I like what you did with the crown stop, no more bending down to look under the stop to check angles, ill have to make one like that. Thanks for sharing.
great idea's like them both very much
thanks for the comments. I think you would like this if you use that stand
GREAT JOB. Only one suggestion, get a dolly (or any type of wheels) to roll in and out to save your back, knees, etc. Blessings!
I do have a fold up dolly but it sits at the front in front of my miter saw. I can only pack so much in that truck. Thanks for the suggestion.
A little bit of bee's wax or furniture wax helps make everything slide great
Thanks Gabe for the suggestion
You could add .5 or 1” Teflon tape. I bet just a strip on each side and 1 down the middle would work great. I think a roll is around 10 dollars or so.
I have also had people suggest gluing some laminate countertop material to one piece. I just don't want to make it too slick. Thanks
Looks like a great design. I also like Spencer’s version. I use the rolling stand as well. I’ve debated a few times to go to the non rolling. On your wings, do the legs lock into the open position? Or do you ever have any problems with them shifting? Thanks for sharing your ideas.
The legs on mine swing free. Once you lock down the sliding support bar the legs never fold up or change position. I mostly use these on concrete and almost always in someones garage so wind is never a factor. They are quite sturdy. I made a video on how I made them also. Thanks for your comments
great job
thanks for the inspiration old son :D well said also regarding 'appearance'... I have a 07 caravan that i wrapped and lettered myself, looks like new money and brings a fair amount of inquiry at wherever we go..
Thanks for the comments. Appearance doesn't mean you do good work but it sure helps get your foot in the door.
Thanks, was thinking about a toolbox setup to get a bit more organized. Will look at them
I friggin love you dad
Instead of the shuffleboard powder you could use laminate glued down to one of the boards or both face to face and that would be slick as well. One piece I would think would be sufficient as face to face would be too slick in my opinion. Great job with specialized purpose and simplicity.
the laminate sounds like a good idea. the clear coat finish is starting to wear off and is not as easy as it used to be. thanks,
@@homecraftsolutions3506 what about wax?
Nice set up. I've use melamine edge banding as well for low tech slides.
Actually that would probably work better. The finish on the plywood is starting to wear off. Could use melamine panels too.
Thanks Pal... I like your simple design and right now HF has the stands for 11.99 so I will copy what you did with the 1x3 oak & 3/4 birch ply.. one more question.. Did you build in stops for the support legs?? or do they hang there vertical and the weight of the table keeps them from moving.. I'm sure that would be fine.. Thanks again
The legs just swing without locks. the weight of the table and lockiing in the slide in part or the DWX stand keeps it from moving. Spencer with Inside Carpentry made similar ones for the other Dewalt stand but he made his too heavy in my opinion, with other hardware. His is great and probably what he needed. Mine is simple and still very manageable. Thanks for the questions.
Hey loved the video.. Keep em commin!! What are the dimensions? did you buy a hole sheet of 3/4" birch 4 x 8?? Thanks bud!!
I believe I used a half sheet because the plywood part is 72 x 12. Then I used 1x3 for the outside borders.
this just solved 2 problems for me!
Glad I was able to help
Outstanding! I love the fact that it breaks down quickly. I have a small garage, and when things aren't being used, they have to be put away, unfortunately. This is perfect... I'm sure your subscribers would appreciate the plans you used to build this. 👍
Yes thanks for the comments. I have another video out called miter saw wings (the details) or something like that. or just search Homecraft Solutions.
I do like the sunken in foot settings on this, it looks absolutely critical in making it stable, without doing ANYTHING ELSE for that factor. Thanks for sharing. Aloha
Yes, that is what keeps the boxes locked down in place. Thanks for the comment.
nice work!
I’m AMAZED how efficient your tool storage is and how much you’ve done with a small space!! Nice job brother! You have truly inspired me! Last year I have down sized from a big trailer to a small trailer. Now I want to follow your footsteps. Thank you for sharing! I love your table saw and miter saw stand videos too!! Could we see how you’ve packed your Ridgid boxes next?
Thanks Red for the comments. I may do that when it warms up again.
My apologies. I see the answer below. Thanks.
I agree. Excellent simple design. Who makes the legs you used?
Great idea! I'm hoping you can make a video on how to make that set up. Thanks for sharing
This is amazing. Thank you! I might need to build something similar here soon!
that mentally of ..problem solving... is something we rarely see in the younger generation... thats a nice set up...
Thanks for the comment German.
Simple and efficient. I think some people get too hung up on the flashy stuff. What matters is that it works and helps you be more productive. Looks like you nailed it! 👍👍
Very simple and very clean! Thank you for sharing and hats off to you.
Awesome. I may try and build a “rough draft” for mine this week. I appreciate the video.
Great Job 👍🏽📐🔨 Nicely Done… There Is One Person That I Know Spencer Lewis “Inside Carpenter” He Built His Miter Saw Wings 2.0 For Dewalt DWS780
Yes I saw Spencer’s. He does a great job with his videos.
