Pearl Slant Razor - First Impressions
My daily razor. Excellent shaver once you learn the best angle. Close and smooth. The "semi open" comb and the tension it put on the blade make it a pretty unique design. For travel efficiency I use the slant gentile, fast and deep shave for sure, even with mild or used blades.
I guess, I still need to recall the best angle
With Fatip, I tend to find the angle easier from the bar, than from the cap... :-)
@ivanmuniz3288 I've had such a low blade sensation that I probably wiggled the razor too much
I did that at first, too. They're intended to work with this little blade exposure, and they do! From the bar, that bit of blade exposed is easier to place, I guess.
@ivanmuniz3288 With OC, I had that feel as well, teeth first, tilt until blade grabs and that is sweet spot.
your next mission should be the fatip l, ibrido
We'll see ☺️👍
Nice shave Let the brush knot bloom, it has a break almost similar to a badger of boar.
I might do ☺️👍 Comparing RR Silvertip BC which I'm using for 2y I didn't noticed any breaking, but doesn't harm trying
Hi. Yes. These smaller loft densely packed brushes pick up the soap easily from the pick but release the lather not that easy sometimes. I am also counting on Black Friday 🙂 Have a nice weekend
Thanks! 11.11 singles day is near, but not fully supported by Ali* some brushes are down to like 13-15€ but not all. Happy hunting 🧐
Hi. Nice shave and chat as ever. I have been using a black Zomchi Noble for several days. Its excellent. except with its namesakes blades. Didn't suit me at all.
Can relate, I added my first zomchi blade (after trial) to Muhle Rocca and it was decent, slightly better compared with that "mild blade in mild razor" combo. Guess I'll feed them to some other blade-munching razors 😁
Nice shave. Very typical design and a pretty good razor.
Yeah, more-less the same "89 ballpark" and not in a bad way, def. great coating, I'm so curious to see would it be durable as well
Hello. Oh my. We have an emergency situation. The ring of death in a soap. Unbelievable 🙂 Tomorrow is pre Friday
😁😁😁 ring of death... that deserves episode on its own! At least it'll be one step closer to next soap to tryout.
That razor seem have a design similar of the Greencult. About wet shaving I think maybe is even (or more) a matter of type of beard and culture (religion). Most of the shaving blade made in Asia don't work for us,the adaptation to an harsher environment make it that way. Even in Africa they have problems to use secury razor, and there isn't a matter of time, for sure.
This is very insightfull response, much appreciated 🤗 Wasn't aware of that, and believed it's just some "wide-market" approach, to go with proven design, mild blades, playing a safe bet. You know how notorious price Fatip pay for its design 😁 But in overall, very nice razors from Zomchi, I hope they'll keep the QA at high levels
The way you describe the wear effects of your blades, you might be able to run the cutting edge of fresh new blade through a cork before starting any first shave with the blade. Then maybe your shave #1 and shave #2 will give you less trouble. You could still expect the number of shaves to be what you usually obtain.
Huh... could be worth trying, just need to pop some 🍷first ☺️ Jokes aside, I've got no more Gillettes so I'll check the Perma-Sharps if they misbehave as well. I guess I could start using some balms for the skin, on these colder days. I'll def. call you out if this corking do the trick, thanks for the tip 👍
@@10floz30minutes nice sugestion.
Nice shave, cheers to budget shaves
Thanks oki, gotta make most out of least 😎
@@Wicked-WhiskersGillette platinum blacks never really worked well for me. Too sharp and despite a mostly consistent technique, it would almost certainly nick.
@okiedokie_cool yeah, it's weird how some blades just work (or doesn't) despite all other variables
Great video. My budget shave is Arko soap, Shaving Revolution synthetic hair brush from a set, King C Gillette razor (bought on discount at a drugstore for 8 Euros) and Ralon aftershave.
Ralon, nice 🇭🇷 splash, gotta try it next time when I go to Bosnia, saw it in many supermarkets, still unavailable at Serbia
@@Wicked-Whiskers Really good, it's like 2-3 Euros here. There are the Original and Sport version. Both leave the skin feeling smooth, and the scent lasts a long time.
@@davorsixstrings1642 Great ☺️ thanks for the tip!

@@Wicked-Whiskers nice for the price, I use it for the mornin shave with shaving creams, just smear the cream on the top of the brush and do the face lather. I drove 220 km for brion creams and palmira cream and got the brush to :D

And I guess that's all from my novelties, no more razors 🤗
Hi. Glad the shave was good. You don't have to spend millions to get a good shave. I'm not the biggest fan of tto razors but I like arko and I like synthetic brushes.
I was just so curious to see how it'd work for 3$ or less, I think it was 280-290 RSD, got some FlyDears with it again 😆 I'd say it's even milder than other razors I have, only dislike is "how to clean it inside?" We have hard water and I guess the limescale would kill it at some point but, for 3$ to hell with it 🤗
Hello. This is favorite sandalwood scent. Of the ones I've tried. Wanted to ask you neighbor. Did it take looooong to break in this brush? Have a good evening Sir
Hi ☺️ Well, this is my finest boar brush and latest one I've had so I had pretty good back-knowledge about boars and comparison in that way might be tricky. I used it as in my breaking in b.brush video, so 2 days with day apart for drying (soaked in glass) and basically that gave it head start. After no more than 1mth it went full blossom. But it's Omega, and quality of bristles is way better than any I've had. Semogue i.e. had much harder breaking in and went full fluffy-floppy, while Omega kept backbone as new but 40% length of loft, from bristle ends is fully soft, nearly as synthetic. So the truth is somewhere in middle
@Wicked-Whiskers thanks, is that the omega 10098?
@@borbelyhaz321 That is correct 🙂
Hi. Used the razor twice. The angle of the head helps me because i need to keep the head flat. I'm not a huge fan of single edge razors generally but this one will do. I treat it like a straight due to the lack of torque which you helpfully identified, Many thanks for that. Beautifully made razor like all the Pearls I have. This is a good one!
Got same feeling about single-edge razors as well, does feel and work differently but end results are such that I'm easily reaching to it more and more. I'm so glad that my instructions were helpful, I wish you many great shaves 🤗👍

@@icyjaam Just hold it with two fingers under bottom plate, light touch with thumb on top cap and let it center itself 🤗
@@Wicked-Whiskers Thanks for tip, it helped. The razor was delivered yesterday, and I did the firsdt shave iwth it today...I was scared at first given how heavy it was, and the way it smoothly shaved, it was a weird feeling, not bad in any way, just a bit strange compared to the cartridge razors which I have been using. The shave was a success, I did a few passes and there were no cuts or nicks, the blade was gentle on the skin, and I understood whic hangel was the best just with my intuition and I also got to know when to stop, as it would stop making scarping sounds when it had nothing left to cut. Overall the cut was very satisfying, it just took me more time to complete the session..but even without going against the grain (because I have a sensitive skin), the shave was smoother and there is no irritation, no razor burn. Thanks again for the review
@@icyjaam Great, nice feedback my man 🤗 My only advice is to keep working on lathering, it will help you on sensitive skin (I had too dry lather for most of my life), don't be shy by adding more water as you need. Lathering is my favorite part of process, even more enjoyable than cutting. My old barber used to say "well lathered face is half-shaved already" 💈
Nice one. How does it compare to R89?
Huh, tough question. I'd say more manouverable, def. feels smoother, just a bit more efficient, closed ends, bit more shave angle span (R89 has narrow working window) and in my feel, somehow feels nicer. Like more modern version of it. And blade is less sqewed, so attack angle on skin is more direct. To me it feels like Wilkinson Sword upgrade more than it feels close to R89, but as shown - it can be driven quite fast and mindless
@@Wicked-Whiskers Thank you! Awesome analysis, as expected.
@@andrewkim333 Thanks 🤗 glad it helped. Like said I didn't choose this razor it was gifted so can't dispute would I buy it or not, but it is helluva razor for sure. Another "not love at first sight" but one of the first to grab when ih hurry.

super comfortable 🤗 must admit I didn't liked zomchi on first run as much as it grown to me after couple of shaves, true mindless shaver
Hi. You loaded so little soap, literally a couple of swirls on the puck with this brush and you had more than enough lather. Amazing 🙂 Tomorrow is pre Friday 👍
That's why I always highlight Stay Traditional 🤗 Amazing soap. Wait to see it with bigger knots, like black yaqi... I could lather myself from head to toes 😁
Nice video and shave
When I stopped comparing it with all other razors and just focused on "as it is" it actually outperformed itself ☺️
@@Wicked-Whiskers wow, that's good

Thanks so much for trying my recommendation! I’m glad that you like it! 😊 I’ve tried it with a DS Cosmetic D8 and preferred the Progress. I will try it with my R89 next. Have a nice weekend.
Thank you for hint! I hope you don't mind "branding" 😁 How's D8 compared with R89? I feel that S9 is bit harsher than Rocca, but as for FlyDears - I'm thinking on re-ordering another 100 or two 🤔
@@Wicked-WhiskersThe D8 is very smooth for me and more efficient than R89. But therefore und have to be a little more careful though it’s still very mild. Very good for daily shaves. I usually do one Pass against the grain with it. My favorite combination is with Perma sharp so far.
Thanks it's worth knowing 🤗 Have a great weekend R!
Thus far, Flydear blades are the best I've tried, for the price. As with most things in wet shaving of course YMMV. A great shave to start the weekend 😊 Take care!
Thanks Alex, have a nice shave 🤗
The Proraso Red is my favorite Proraso, but you are absolutely right, it needs A LOT of water to work correctly.
They don't call it "wet shaving" without reason... Me and my poor Dad-jokes 😁
Hello. Happy Friday. Out of the proraso I get the best post shave feel from this red one. Love the woodsy sandalwood scent on it. Have a good one
I can agree on that, it has nice feel and pleasant warm note for autumn & winter. I liked the green in summertime while white is for me easiest to lather but somewhat undecided (one size fits all, sort of feel) but I found them on discount and got all 3 😁
Nice video, im glad you like these blades. Now, i wanna try them
They are more than fine for the price but IMHO won't excel in each and every razor. For mild ones - I'd go for it, and probably would stack them if they prove themselves in Fatips 😁

Hope you'll have an easy week, OAM is on my 88th shave so far, and it seems as I barely moved a few mm in the bowl. Just allow it to take as much water as it can, surprisingly good soap which I wouldn't discover if it wasn't pricedropped 😁 I only dislike glass jar, always affraid to smash it in bathroom. Astra is so underrated but such a thankfull blade to work with.
@@Wicked-Whiskers thanks for a reply. I have now more than enough soaps.. I have to pull the Hand brake. And for me honestly Stirling soaps are best bang for a Buck. Smell good, Nice performance for a good price.
@@danijelblagojevic9572 Yeah, agree on that. 170ml that last forever 🤗 for me maybe too strong scent (Almond creme) but exceptional performance. Nice video
Another one with "research" topic and lessons-learned consequences 😁😁😁 1hr later, skin is as good as new. Guess just some blade wear-off, super-accelerated with Rocca's pronounced blade overhang. R41 is also a great blade-tester for me, if I sense plucking - then blade isn't sharp enough
@@Wicked-Whiskers Nice observation. I also tried my blades in a aggressive razor but now im using a mild razor to test my blades
@@zarmanavice4488 That is much better strategy, I just thought to go for comparisson with familiar feel ☺️
Great Shave, thanks for the video. I feel similar about the FlyDear. The shave is very easy and efficient but there are sometimes a little more skin issues compared to Astras or some other blades. I still like using them.
I think most of chinese blades are such, I've got lots of them lately. I'll compare them when settle the feelings 😁 They are mostly mild, some are much thinner vs rusland blades, so maybe they are made for less hairy people, which would be totaly valid argument. Next round is per your recommendation, Merkur Progress + FlyDear, I guess it would work better with less blade vibratto 🤞🤗
Nice, I’m really looking forward to your reaction. 😊
Happy Monday. Fly baby fly 👍 nice lather on this soap. I also like efficient but not harsh one pass shavers. Maybe I should try this razor. My favorite right now is the yaqi mercury. Hope your week is off to a good start neighbor
Thanks! You too! I don't know, I blame the blades as they are not match for such aggressive razor, lot of chattering and if steel is not best quality it gets micro damages. Maybe it'd work in other razor. With this setup - shave would normally be like butter! I had quite a itchy stinging afterwards which I never had with Rocca
Nice review, seems like a good razor
For people who need a mild & mindless shaver - it is more than a solid option. Very unified design to target all common issues (blade chatter, blade gaps, exposed blade ends) and it feels much more than it cost, honestly. Guess it'll become my "lazy shaver"

And cyber-monday, but hey, as long as we can get some great deals, count me in 😁
Nice shave, love the Dscosmetic S9. By the way, consider picking up the zinc alloy version of the Dscosmetic ax-se Wolfman clone (comes with three plates). It is brilliant (and not expensive) in my opinion .
I was eying Z0 from DSC (R41 clone but in SS), Yaqi Vostok's (0.7 or 0.9) but somewhat feels much more expensive compared with S9 when I got it. Will see, for now I'm checking how low they'll drop 😁
@@Wicked-Whiskersz0 continues to be on my list - copper/ brass/ stainless steel version. Perhaps their boar brushes too if the price drops.
Price is certainly a deciding factor when it comes to razor acquisitions. Chinese razors have very competitive list pricing, but they become unbeatable during a sale. This is how I got my hands on my first adjustable, the Yaqi Final Cut. It was €14 during a sale ... with shipping. What's more, if you like aggressive and efficient, it is actually a very good razor, one of my better ones in fact. Thank you for the video and take care!
Lovely story, I'm so happy when read people's bargain deals! Did you saw mine Whityle? About same price, and it looked bit different compared to Yaqi so I tried that one instead. That kind of chinese razors I'd try, ok they offer something new, different, fixed, but simple cloning existing razors is not on my pick-list, I dunno, maybe I'm subjective. On brush-field it's completely other story, for boars - 🇮🇹, for all others - 🇨🇳 rules the market, hands-down 🤗
@@Wicked-Whiskers Yes, I watched your video on the Whityle a few days ago. It is even cheaper than the Yaqi TFC and apparently, a great all around shaver! Personally, I'm fine with clones as long as they do not harm the inventor and introduce unfair competition. As far as brushes go, I would agree. Don't like badger brushes and haven't tried horses, but Italian boars 🐗 are fantastic!

@@Wicked-Whiskers yeah, i know what you mean. I do not like to revisit my plastic light de razor anymore but I appreciate the nostalgia :)
Is the muhle Rocca one of those razors that can give a really good shave in one pass?
I'd say it depends on your "weird" growing patterns, but for me it can take close to 90% whiskers on just WTG pass. Touch-ups are minimal and my beard grows bit less after Rocca shaves. It has bit of blade exposure which is pronounced, but efficiency wise I'd say it's a "closed bar R41 with a comfort of R89" 😊
