BTR Gen V Cam in a 2016 Escalade 6.2 L86
Just finished a cam swap and partial rebuild on my 2016 Escalade, 6.2 L86, BTR Gen V 220 cam with 4 degree limiter, AFM/DOD delete, Johnson lifters, BTR trunions, TSP springs, C7R timing chain, LME billet timing guide, deleted vacuum pump, Katech porter throttle body, AFE intake, MSD coils, TSP 1 7/8th long tube headers, TSP Y pipe with high flow cats, Corsa Sport catback exhaust. Dyno tuned on 91 made approx 450hp/465ftlb at the wheels.
The Corsa exhaust is loud and aggressive when you’re in the throttle but super quiet when cruising.

Dam that sounds real good! My 6.2 w cam & headers doesn’t sound this good. Whats your exhaust setup
TSP long tubes, TSP y pipe with high flow cats, Corsa Sport Catback. The Corsa sport is by far my favorite sounding exhaust on these LT motors
How much whp did it make I have the exact same setup as you just need to install how big is the difference from stock!?
Seat of the pants it definitely woke it up from stock. Since I did the work myself I didn’t get a baseline dyno so I can’t be sure but with the parts and dyno tuning I wouldn’t be shocked if it was a good 80ish wheel hp over stock. The chop is sick, works well with the stock converter, did I mention it’s loud and sounds awesome 😂 My goal wasn’t to race it or anything, just something fun that definitely started conversations everywhere I took it
I use a similar camshaft from the gpi. It's also a 4 degree limiter. But I hear and feel knocking noises at idle that come from the vvt. How are you doing with this?
I didn’t have any issues with any weird noise. Any chance you put the limiter in wrong?
Sounds sick. What oil do you run in this?
Usually always Mobile 1 full synthetic 0w20, i decided to try Royal Purple after the build. I’ve since sold it and moved on to a new project.
Please share specs
Cant wait to build min 🤤🤤🤤
Got any video updates or your thoughts on the 225 cam just prdered one for my yukon denali
how do you like the 8 speed? is it holding up fairly well?
Hey i ended up selling this one to move on to a different project but for the couple years i had it in stock trim I had no issues or complaints. It had about 118k miles. I have heard that they don’t like when you start adding power but I didn’t experience any problems.
What’s the gas mileage on this setup?
Hey boss question on the cam is it the 220 or the 225 im thinking of changing my tsp onefor a btr but which one do you have and should i get the 225
This was the BTR 220 Cam. I don’t have any experience with the 225. When I set out to do this build I contacted a very well respected performance shop out here in the valley and the 220 was the one the shop owner said he would do it if was his cadi.
Thanks for the video and details. Your caddy is sick!
Love the license plate 😂🤣🤣
Nice... 347 4 spd?
License plate is insane
Truck looks and sounds awesome! Did you keep the stock torque converter in it? If so, how does it drive? I stuck trying to decide between the BTR 220 and Stage 2 truck cam for my 2018 Denali, but I don't want to swap the converter since I tow pretty regularly.
Thanks! The parts on this build are all what Joe over at Cordes Performance recommended for this SUV with the stock converter. It’s a pretty choppy cam but not really annoying with the stock TC. It does have a Little bit of idle surge when you’re stopped in drive and on the brake but I don’t think it would be something that gave you trouble when towing.
The potential in those is no joke
That is one cleannn escalade mine looks stock and im going w that sleeper look, rn i have a stage 2 tsp cam and a little cutout system, im doing headers soon but what parts did you buy to drop it how it is now and also does it change the drivablity from when it was stock
ill follow with a link to the McGauheys kit. Not a huge drop, but fit the 24's nicely and kept the 4wd and factory magride stuff functioning. With the drop and the lower profile tires (295/35r24) you tend to feel the crappy roads a little more than stock but its not bad at all, and on decent roads its still caddy smooth and quiet. switchsuspension.com/cadillac-escalade-4wd-awd-2015-2020-2-3-deluxe-drop-kit-mcgaughys-part-34208/
I have a 2015 with stage 2 btr, headers, cai & tune except mine is not that loud since i have a muffler. Down here in Durango, Mex
The Corsa Sport catback is stupid loud on cold start and when accelerating but is incredibly quiet, no drone when cruising on the highway.
How low did you go?
It’s the McGaughys 2/3 drop kit. Not too low, looks good, fits the 24’s and retains all the factory mag ride and 4wd switchsuspension.com/cadillac-escalade-4wd-awd-2015-2020-2-3-deluxe-drop-kit-mcgaughys-part-34208/
Yo buddy I have a question. Did you put the longtubes on yourself? Did everything work, or did you need to fabricate stuff
Yeah I put them on myself. Everything bolted up nicely. There was some confusion on this truck with 02 sensors and extensions. I deleted the rear (downstream) o2’s and had them tuned out. The driver side upstream sensor didn’t need an extension but I used one on the passenger side upstream since it routes really close to hot parts. No one made an extension for the passenger side upstream on the 2016 Escalade…on my application it was a black connector, not gray like the other side so I ended up modifying the extension I didn’t need for the other side and it worked fine. As for the headers, I did have to put a little dent in one of the primaries on the driver side to clear the joint on the steering shaft. It was close but rubbed a little when turning. Heat the spot up and give it a couple of whacks and it’ll be good to go and isn’t an eye sore. The TSP catted y pipe and Corsa sport catback bolted up no problem
@@lbiffin very nice! What size tubes? I have 1 7/8 I bought speed engineering longtubes with a y-pipe. I already have an aftermarket exhaust, I’m hoping everything works well lol. I appreciate your knowledge as I’m going through this process right now lol did you wrap your headers in heat tape? Is there anything I should know or you recommend when doing everything?
@@_1liftedcaddy_I can’t speak for the speed engineering headers, but I imagine they won’t have any more issues than I did with the TSP’s. I did end up wrapping them in header wrap which was a pain in the ass but I feel like it was a good call. The passenger side header runs by the starter and some other sensors and wiring that I didn’t want to burn up, you’ll see when you get in there. I just used some inexpensive header wrap from Amazon. Watch some videos on it before you attempt it if you decide to do it. Oh and mine are 1 7/8th also, with the high flow catted y pipe. I looked at your videos, the lift and color combo on yours is sick. I thought about lifting mine but went the other direction instead lol
@@lbiffin alright atleast you didn’t have major problems. Thats a good sign! Lol and yea I was looking at everything and it crossed my mind when seeing all the wiring etc… and yea I actually changed my look now it’s all black and I’m going with chrome wheels lol… it’s only a 15’ premium but still badass and really one of a kind where I’m from.. I appreciate your time buddy! You got any other social media? Might have to pick your brain if I run into any issues if that’s alright lol..
I'm swapping a 2017 Caddy L86/8L90 into a 93 C1500 ext cab. I have the 220 cam. What part# for the Johnson lifters and what push rods did you use with those? Your build sounds so good, motivation to complete mine.
That sounds like a lot of fun! I used Johnson 2110R lifters, BTR chromoly 3/8 .80 wall pushrods. I measured for pushrods and ended up with stock length (7.85” I believe) to get proper lifter preload. Get that thing done man! You’ll be stoked when you do 😊
What stage cam is it?

Glad I own a '65 Falcon 🎉 You can see that the Falcon began to lose its style in '66 and was completely gone by '69. 😢
Not in Australia. We had Falcons a lot longer here and some very nice body shapes such as the Xb coupes etc.
Hp gain?
I didn’t get a baseline before doing the work. The tuner has a 6.2 Denali of the same year that made 360ish at the wheels with just long tubes. I think a fair estimate is 80-100hp over stock
Hey! Absolutely love your Escalade! I just purchased the BTR225 cam kit & AFM DOD lifter delete kit. Was there anything else you had to purchase to complete this process? It’s my first time putting a cam in and could use some expertise!
Thanks! Outside of the cam, lifters, dod plugs, springs it’s a good idea to upgrade your trunions. But as far as “need” that’s subjective I suppose. I opted to completely pull the motor, replaced my oil pump, added a c7r timing chain and LME guide, ARP bolts, etc. I chose this route because honestly pulling the motor wasn’t tough and you have to pull the oil pump anyway. Keep in mind a lot of the GM hardware is single use like the head bolts, crank and cam bolts, the hard fuel lines on the valley etc. there’s some specialty tools you’ll want to get like the oil pump alignment tool. I have a lot of money and time invested into the cadi so I took my time on the weekends for a month and a half and just wanted to make sure I did it all right and I’m glad I did. I’ll post a link to one of the best write ups I found..it’s for a vette but the motor is basically the same. The LT is a little different than the LS’s but nothing you can’t handle in your own garage. www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c7-tech-performance/4011956-how-to-lt1-camshaft-and-cylinder-head-install-guide.html
@@lbiffin dude thank you so much!! That helped me a ton! You got any links from the Trunions and other things you copped?
@@michaelnastev7699yeah give me a bit and I’ll post some better details on the parts I went with.
@@lbiffin I’d really appreciate that brother thank you. I just ordered “Gen V Rocker Arms with Bushing Style Upgraded Trunnion Kit Installed”
Nice. I just got mine torn down for the afm/dod delete and a stage 2 BTR along with speed engineering 1 7/8 long tubes… excited for the sound. Clean ass truck btw!
Thanks! Hell yeah man it’ll be pure joy when you fire it up the first time.
How much did it cost you in Total $ brother ?
do you have video of your setup??? @_1liftedcaddy_
Sounds nasty af, do you have clips revving it, and is it still rev limited?
I just uploaded a video of it on the dyno but I plan to add a video of a cold start and revs this weekend. I absolutely love the sound of this setup.
@@lbiffin Hell yeah, it’s one of the best setups I’ve seen on UA-cam!! What is the power upgrade after all these mods by the way?
@@yosk0bg14thanks! I loved this thing before the engine work but it definitely made it more fun to drive. I didn’t get a stock dyno number but it made 411hp 425ftlb at the wheels in 6th gear which means it’s really closer to 450hp and 465ft lbs at the wheels. Not a race car by any means but it runs good for a family hauler 😂
@@lbiffin Oh yeah definitely, we own an 2016 Escalade Platinum, but what I noticed is that in this year of production some models appear to have factory defects and stuff, like our Escalade had malfunction with the touchscreen display. It is a very nice suv.
Nice setup.. Mine is making about 525-550whp and close to 575 torque ( best guess) all motor. Had to put two borla mufflers to quiet it down as it was purely obnoxious (no drone) while driving or chopping at idle. Too many looks from the police and not being able to have a conversation in or around it without yelling made me do it.
Hey, what did you use for the shock tower brace? 😎
Its a little more than just sweet
Gorgeous Falcon! Looks better than a Mustang! Is that a 302 or stroker variant or a 351or variant?
I really like that you left the vinyl roof on it.
"My favorite car of all time nicely done"
I wonder if that Falcon 3 spd or 4 spd with a 289 or 302 or 351 in it.
It has none of that. It has a 347 Ford racing crate (450hp) engine, with tremek 5 speed manual shift.
Felicidades fue mi primer auto 😂
I had one great car
4 nice job on that car beautiful paint job
MASSIVE 60 amp power draining alternator..lol
This is one great looking basic transportation cars of the ‘60’s
The vinyl top and chrome trim look granny on that car.
Hey, I heard you got a falcon,no!, I thought I got a pretty good deal!
That looks as good or better than a non fastback Mustang imho. Absolutely love it.
That's a pretty mild launch--I wan't impressed much. Nice car though.
Wow. Love these little falcons. Sorta wish they made a fastback version too 😂. Maybe someone will!!.
I like the Mavericks as well.
@@paulross9287 hey Paul. Just thinking.. Maybe the Maverick is a fastback Falcon. Lol. I love the Mavericks too!. My uncle ran the body of one on the dirt track with a police interceptor 460.. kicked alot of chevies butts. !!

Next video do a POV.. We want to see her run.
Nice Falcon 👍 What Ford should have done. Chevy sold a bunch of Nova SS’s, Plymouth sold a ton of Dusters and Dodge sold some Demons, but Ford never gave Falcons the same chance
They certainly did....they called it 'Mustang'.
I really miss my 69 sports coupe
Very nicely done and rare ❤😊 👍
Great Car
What a beautiful Spyder!
