There aren't enough DISTROS. Don't talk sh!t.
I have 8 fps, and i doing anything to fix it. please help!!! Ich have macbook pro (2017)
Unfortunately 8fps is to be expected with a 2017 MacBook Pro that is still using an intel processor.
If anything the future trends towards fewer distros. At least fewer well managed distros. There are a number of distros RN that get crappy realeases bundling in beta software and hoping for the best. I thing we should only hope that these distros either find their feet to stand upright or fall on their face. Reality was that distros should have never been a thing, at least not for the average end user. It's the fragmentation of the community that breeds the need for the vast majority of distros and most of the time that fragmentation is driven almost exclusively by willful disobedience. Not for the purpose of creating a better product but because "I want it that way mentality" even if someone else ends up paying the price for this mentality, usually the developers of the software. Overstretched devs lead to the view that Linux is buggy and unstable (at least the graphical linux desktop definitely is) which further hampers linux's footing as anything but a costomized os for the ppl willing to invest the time in it.
When my laptop upgraded to Windows 11 and started to show advertisements I had enough. Now after using different distros I have started using Arch on all my computers.
Welcome to the Linux community!
Completely agree with you !
I use arch btw
I don’t trust anyone who doesn’t distrohop
Using nixos btw
Does remmina work? Can you encrypt the Linux?
Remmina works but I haven't tried encryption, sorry about that.
I think that's because they didn't fully optimize the VDA codec, which causes it to consume way more battery than macOS did. If Apple released all of the source codes, I think they would do better.
And Apple would never do that, unfortunately.
Great video! Doing creative work on Linux has come a LONG way in the last several years. I run a video production company on a full Linux pipeline with very little issues! It's been great!
Thanks for watching! Glad to know that video editing on Linux is not an issue even for professionals.
@@yoyosan999 Not at all! You just have to build your pipeline around it. Most people who have issues just get used to certain software and can't bring themselves to switch
You can use adobe stuffs in VM, passthrough your GPU and can interact with it on your desktop using a nice project called winapps, good thing you're ditching adobe stuffs. I never touched adobe though, but i need o365 desktop version for my school work. But learning video editing on KDEnlive and Davinci on my fedora KDE spin 40.
So pleased to see that even the most devout Adobe follows are finally seeing Adobe for what they are. If the subscription model wasn't bad enough, now they are claiming the rights to use to all the work created with their software for their AI database, that they will in turn then sell back to the same customers. Its insane. So many more incredibly powerful tools out there for a fraction of the price, if not free.
Adobe right now might be the most hated company on UA-cam lol
nice video bro 👍 Im using Linux since some time, and some weeks ago i try to Install Davinci, but i can't. can help passing some tutorial (link or youtube). thx
What distro are you using?
Ubuntu 22.04
I am using Ubuntu 22.04 as well and I just installed with no problem. Maybe take a look at it here: github.com/flolu/davinci-resolve-linux
What is your hardware? Resolve is very picky about GPU configuration. Are you running NVIDIA, AMD, or Arc... or integrated?
That is my GPU: CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3500U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx (8) @ 2.100GH GPU: AMD ATI Radeon Vega Series / Radeon Vega Mobile Series
I'm not trying to call you out specifically, it's a widespread misconception. But these macs with 8gb are aggressively thrashing the tiny SSDs with page/swap/cache to make it usable. It is basically just a way for them to ensure that your machine will be dead in a few years as the SSD will have no writes left, and its soldered on so you have to buy new one due to the cost prohibitive repair gouging. Really bad for the environment and scummy in general. This isn't an oversight, its by design, don't defend it. I was a mac user for over a decade until this year for the record.
Not defending Apple as I think they are definitely too greedy but your claim that the SSDs will be broken in a few years is just not true. I just checked my SSD health and I have only written 86TB of data over the 3-year usage. It is likely to last longer than many other components on my laptop.
I’d like to try but I’d be worried I would want to switch back and I don’t know how to download the Macos again
You wouldn't need to. It's a dualboot installation so you get to keep macos untouched. You just need to shrink the partition of macos to make space for the Linux os.
I have two M1s, one given from my office which is the base model and the other is my personal one with 16GB RAM, 512GB of storage, and the extra M1 cores. I use a lot of productivity apps that Mac OS is known for and my usage is heavy Brave browser tabs, multiple chat apps, and MS Excel along with other small apps. My work M1 struggled so much with RAM and it used so much SWAP memory. One of my tools found my SSD life at 80% despite just 1 year of use. This is because of excess Swap memory usage. Under activity monitor, the graph was always in yellow or red. My 16GB Mac with the same usage remains at the green with the occasional yellow when put under stress. The difference is night and day. Now with Apple Intelligence coming to M1 Macs, I am sure the base models will struggle. Fanboys defending saying "8GB is enough" have no idea what they are talking about. Apple still using 8GB across the line as a base is just robbery. With the new Microsoft laptops starting with 16GB of RAM, I hope Apple uses that to make sure their hardware specs are at par with the industry.
Good review sir my question is how much Mac OS used storage space when you start up first I want to buy macbook air M2 256Gb but dont know how Much Storage left on first Boot
If I remember correctly you would have around 235GB left as the OS is using 20GB.
Please help me i am confused. Should I go for the MacBook Air M2 top-end model (16GB/512GB) or the M3 base model with an upgraded SSD to 512GB? I have a 1TB Samsung T9 SSD. I'm worried about running out of storage as I install apps. This happened to me before with my base iPhone 6s (32GB), where I could either keep apps or some images and videos, but not both. I am a software developer by profession, but I'm buying this for personal use and some development learning. Below are the prices for the 13" MacBook Air M2 in India: 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD - ₹90,000 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD - ₹1,10,000 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD - ₹1,10,000 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD - ₹1,30,000 Below are the prices for the 13" MacBook Air M3 in India: 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD - ₹1,10,000 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD - ₹1,30,000 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD - ₹1,30,000 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD - ₹1,50,000 (Note: There's a 50% price increase if I go for the top-end M3 model.)
256gb should be fine with an external ssd but I am not sure about the size of your development softwares.
@@yoyosan999 for example i may use it for java development with IntelliJ Project, or for AEM 6.5 Development. Then what do you suggest MBA M2 16gb, 512gb or MBA M2 16gb, 256gb
More is always better when it comes to storage. Definitely go for the 512GB. I don't know about the availability on your region but you may want to check out refurbished M1 Pro or even M1 Max models.
@@Aashish99999Amazon prime day sale m3 512 16gb for 127300/- I bought it and later cancelled and got the base version m3 for 94k
my swap usage was quite high like 10 tbw in a month, so it wasnt for me. I got rid of it because of this.
That’s very heavy usage. 8gb is just not enough for such heavy work.
Meanwhile Asus g14 16gb ram 8gb vram 1tb SSD only $999
That’s a pretty sweet laptop.
Was this AI generated? The voice, i mean.
Yeah I cloned my voice using elevenlabs
@@yoyosan999 Ohh.. why would you do that? You could have just recorded it. Voiceover. More human.
It’s just easier for me. Right now I don’t have the time and space to sit down and record without being interrupted. Sorry about that. I would love in the future to do it in person.
@@yoyosan999 Eyy.. no sorries needed. Keep going! Most people won't even notice. ❤
I am not a PRO user. But I do creative freelance projects. I have never been bogged down by my 8GB M1 MB Air when video editing using Premiere Pro. But it did slow down and get stuck a bunch of times. Here is the scenario: 1. When I'm using WhatsApp App with Google Docs on browser. WhatsApp and GDocs both are very poorly optimised I think. Especially GDocs. It just eats RAM for no reason. 2. Opening some websites in combination with other tasks. I have seen many niche websites take up a lot of RAM and bog down my machine while trying to do research for my content writing. And if Google Docs is also open while I write my article, it usually gives me regret about buying the 8GB variant. If anyone else too are facing these issues, please reply.

Hey i bought m1 air recently and getting problem in specker buzz if I play in full volume
You should send it back for a repair or replacement.
Me too! But they did the tests at the Apple Store and they said nothing is wrong. But my buzz is quite hard to hear. Only during specific frequencies.
Do you guys regularly use the speakers at max volume? I rarely use them so I have no idea if mine are also behaving the same or not.
I prefer linux, so i will switch one day. But for now, macs better battery life has me 😢.
Sadly battery life on Linux might never be as good as on macOS.
@@yoyosan999 yeah agreed, but it's not the only factor either. The use case for older machines changes, I ran my old 2012 MacBook pro as a linux server for a few years there before selling it (raid 0 SSD and a ram upgrade made it pretty decent). Besides, if I lost battery life, but gained gaming, I wouldn't complain either.
What about gaming using Linux on M1 mac?
Currently gaming is not great because it's lacking Vulkan support but the devs are working on it so we will see major improvement in the near future.
Thank you! It answered to all my questions!
Thanks for watching
Thank you for a feedback
After learning that battery life is worse on Linux, i am no longer interested. Thank you for this video, i appreciate it.
I am glad the video provides useful information to you!
LETS GO KNICKS
I’m quiet new to Linux , I need Linux what Linux should I use like server one or I don’t understand , tell me for UTM
For utm? You can just install as many as you want and try them all.
please, do not include gaming into your next review. the choice of games and the fact that 23-30fps is "playbale" shows you have quite "nuanced" taste in games that is probably not shared by wider public
Thanks for your feedback. I do think those are playable on a laptop although when I play on pc I tend to need much higher framerates.

cool video! :)
thanks for watching!
is it gonna lose some stuttering while in game?, cause i play jedi survivor and store the game in hdd, while i played the its get stuttering and unloaded texture, sound because my disk already at 100% usage and dont have any speed resource left and the game still need files to be loaded
For the first time those assets being loaded it's going to stutter but the more you play it should be smoother over time.
@@yoyosan999 thanks for the reply. btw idc about loading time, what i care is while in the game. because the stutters that hdd make really bothering my gaming experience
Come on, 8Gb RAM is totally fine.
i'm still fine with 8GB on my thinkpad t460
I don't know why but it seems in Linux the RAM shortage is more obvious.
Oh god!....STOP THE MUSIC....or CHANGE IT!?.....Hahahahah!!!
I like the music :D
Piano is dope, u r lil kid i guess. Not mature enough.
I like the music
Your breathing into the mic is so annoying!!
Really sorry about that.
Fantastic video! Tonight I am going to erase Windows 11 from my N100 Beelink with 16gb ram. I shall be installing Linux to avoid the privacy and agreement nonsense as you put it. Good to know that I can also play some games.
Thank you for watching!
Do other GPU features, than the video en/decoding work? I mean, for example, Blender GPU rendering work?
I am not familiar with Blender but KDE's compositor works fine with hardware acceleration.
I dunno man. I close my laptop and then reopen it the next day and it's 100% dead..... sometimes it bugs out and just doesn't sleep. not sure why and this is on macos
I wonder, if zram with aggressive swapping would be useful for this macbook
which controller you used for gaming on iOS?
I have two controllers that work with my iPhone SE, one is a GameVice GV157, and the other is a BSP-D8. I would strongly recommend buying the latter.
Thank you very much for this fantastic video! Just one question: does the microphone work? On the project's website, they mention that the microphone does not work..
Then it probably doesn’t
The mic doesn’t work unfortunately.
I think this is the first video I've put in my Linux and Mac playlists
Thank you for watching!
Great to hear that it is getting better.
been using primocache for years, works very well for this. a fun tip , since it caches based on how often you load/access the particular game/program, there's a way to force it to cache what you want, just have to have 7zip, go to the folder for the game, right click it, go to 7zip, on drop down menu, go to CRC SHA, then click *, it runs a checksum on all files in the folder, will take a few mins to run depending on game size, but do that 2-3 times, and game will get loaded into the cache, and can utilize primocache benefits quicker.
Hey, try incorporating Arc browser as well. Cheers!
Great video
Thank you so much!
