Formula for Stroke volume variation(SVV)=(SVmax-SVmin)/([SVmax+SVmin]/2). Where SVmax=maximum stroke volume during a period of 30sec. SVmin is the minimum stroke volume during the same period. Stroke volume (SV)=K*Pulsatility. Here K is a constant dependant on arterial compliance and vascular resistance. Pulsatility is calculated based on standard deviation from the pressure wave calculated over a 20s interval.

Some corrections to the video-ARDS is a NON-Cardiogenic Pulmonary edema. A word on ECMO:Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. it is one of the rescue therapies that helps in gas exchange over an artificial membrane thereby buying time till the lungs become functional. Also refer to RECOVERY trial-a trial to test range of potential treatments for COVID 19. it found dexamethasone reduced deaths by one third in ventilated patients. Thanks to Dr.Madhav Hande, Senior Resident, Dept of General Medicine, KMC Manipal for suggesting these changes.
