This car was owned by an elderly gentleman who had it garaged and meticulously cared for it in Vancouver, Washington before my friend Miles bought it. Had the pleasure of test driving this immaculate 1982 Olds Custom Cruiser Wagon, had only 85k miles at the time. Nobody bought it. Quite collectible now. Headliner was perfect original had the factory new GM smell as well. It is a pleasure to see Chevrolet and Olds wagons driving around now in 2024. Has that Wagon Queen Family Truxter, Chevy Chase/ Beverly De'Angelo 80s vibe! Awesome! Hope this car is out there still owned by a collector taking great care of it! :)

Olds diesels then were good engines. All the bugs had been worked out from late 70's.

Oh wow ... I had a light teal blue 82 diesel Olds Custom Cruiser wagon and it was one of the best cars I ever owned. The diesel did give up the ghost with a blown head gasket, but had the engine remanufactured to a gas 350, and it rolled on to well over 250k miles before the rust got to it. I loved that car!!! The best family wagon ever for my family.

Do you know what makes this wagon rare? Because no one wanted it when it was new either.

What's the thinking behind putting wood on a car's exterior ?!? To make it look it's a wooden car or to try to inject some 'warmth' into the 'cold' metal car ? Whatever the rationale, why no more such 'wood panelled' cars around nowadays in new cars ?

What a beauty! My dad was a used car dealer and I remember as a kid around 1989 we had a brown 1982 diesel Cutlass sedan. It sat in a garage in the backyard because we couldn't sell it. No one wanted those diesels especially with the engine problems with earlier year models. Really, a big issue was people didnt know how to crank them. I got in trouble for cranking it right away when I was moving it for a wash before the warning dash light went out. I was always confused as to why we didn't use it as our daily driver because it was so nice and clean. We had a mint diesel Oldsmobile Cutlass and a blue/grey 1982 Cadillac Seville bustleback, just sitting in the back yard garage waiting for a seller. Those are a part of my childhood memories, lol.

Though a bit undersized for this car, the V6 was the best engine choice in 81 and 82. 1981 was the V-8-6-4, then 82 and beyond was the V8 4.1 POS, Ooops I mean HT

    • @LtHades

on the highway, at around 65-70 mph. about 25-30 mpg. But they don't make a lot of power.

I had this car the day I got my DL back in 96’ . My first set of wheels. $800 . I was 16 yrs old . I pretty much destroyed the engine driving up to the mountains to snowboard one day. I’ll never forget how uncomfortable it was having my dad drive me back up there to get the car later that night. I don’t believe he spoke a word to me for the entire hour plus drive.. I was supposed to know that it wasn’t strong enough to go 80 up the grade, loaded down with me, 3 friends and all our gear! Lol. Looking back I shoulda been creeping at 30mph up the Lee Canyon road. Live and Learn . My next car was a 76’ Monte Carlo. The 350 had a lot more power . Not close to the power of my dads 71 SS454 Chevelle (that I borrowed a time or two) but it had a lot more than the V6 Caddy.

This is a super nice example of this model. All optioned out with nice wire wheel covers and cornering lamps. The lighter oak paneling looks much better than the darker tone they used later on.

That is a car! What a beaut - if only a big corp like GM could have done diesel V8 right the first time. Just enough clatter to say "I'm a diesel!". 105 horse was small, but it's diesel torque that counts, and imagine if GM could have done a turbo diesel next ... from the company that brought you Futurama and the Firebird turbine cars ... must have lost talent in the 70's ...

V-6, couldn't get out of its own way, forget climbing hills or trying to pass w/full load. No gas improvement because of constantly flooring it just to keep up.

I think what that car so rare is that it still has the original 5.7 diesel engine in it, the fact that it still runs after 30 years is quite impressive, you should be proud.

A v6???? My 82 Fleetwood brougham delegance had an awful ht4100. A beautiful smooth car. The first 4 months from New the original engine clacked a lot-then seized. The dealership paid for a replacement and five months later rodsbustrd through the valve covers A blessing came for me because this was my grandfather handit to. A man known to fix oldies took over his older brothers dead. He made finely tuned to remove and install the DFI-600!! I enjoyed it for 3 day before a drunk driver The officer told my the Lord was watching you. He suffered many broken bones and lost his wife and two newborns. Rest In Peace. God is in you. God believes in you. Dear Lord I’m enthusiastic to find a 1985 Cadillac Seville Elegante with platinum silver for top hood, sable black for the lower side. A Bose sound system Glovevsoft black leather Help me. duranjr71@yahoo.com
