Why Nelson V Murdock Is Tragic - Marvel’s Daredevil
Marvel's Daredevil is one of the most beloved superhero projects we've ever had. After an incredible 3 season run on Netflix (now on Disney+) Charlie Cox, Jon Bernthal and Vincent D'Onofrio return for Daredevil: Born Again releasing on March 4th.
Today we look back at one of the most character driven episodes of the series, "Nelson V Murdock". A character study of Matthew and Foggy as the hindsight of their relationship is changed as Foggy discovers Matt's hidden half.

Venom 3: The Worst Venom (but they’re all bad)
Переглядів 78514 днів тому
The Venom trilogy is complete, somehow with no Spider-Man in sight, before even Doctor Strange got his trilogy, Venom has had a solo trilogy following solely him. Bizzare to me how this has happened, but it has. Tom Hardy returns with the writer of the previous 2 now stepping up to directing duties. The first 2 aren't the most well received critically but there's clearly been space in the fando...
How Scream Changed The Horror Genre Forever...

To celebrate the spooky day itself, I wanted to go back to a true game changing classic, as well as bringing attention to other majorly influential movies. But arguably the one that changed things the most would be 1996's Scream. But 2 years prior Wes Craven released "New Nightmare", the last in the mainline Elm Street franchise before Freddy V Jason, then it was rebooted for 2010. New Nightmar...

Today i’m joined with my good friend Aurelia to discuss the scariest episode of Doctor Who, Midnight. In a much smaller scale episode, the suspense and pure dread is matched very rarely by other episodes throughout the show and we have a masterful ex...

not that i was expecting this in No Way Home but a secret identity is a potential pathway to such good character and storytelling, especially when there’s not really any of those in the MCU, but then it just was a joke after 10 minutes

@ okay well it’s absolutely used for more comedic effect though and the actual idea of Peter losing his privacy and having to deal with the change of life is so loosely addressed and tackled more comedically, the fact that this thing has happened doesn’t really have much to do with what we end up seeing in that movie as it kicks things off and is then forgotten which I think especially with Spider-Man I would’ve loved to see something more substantial with that specific plot

The story was really scary honestly everything the creature was was scary and while watching it I thought that the creature needed this children genuinely for some thing because every alien enemy that we’ve ever seen has needed something for a purpose but this creature the fact that it needed children and it was willing to make a child suffer like that for so many years because it wanted to be high it’s truly horrifying I can’t even understand the science of how it would use a child as A substance the child is literally deformed as it is wearing a gas mask is even more scary to think about

The idea that the Time Lords "stole" regeneration from a "Timeless Child" is actually excellent because it creates a level of original sin in the entire race that really fits with the line from the Fisher King - "cowardly, vain, curators who woke up one day and remembered they had teeth, then became the most warlike race in the galaxy!" This idea that they have this history of evil that "predates" the time war, and is only re-awakened. It shouldn't have been the doctor.

Say what you will about Spider-Man 3 and Imsoniac SM2 but at least the Symbiotes were Adapted Much More Accurately than what Sony had in Mind, I know Venom is more of a Antihero but without Spider-Man what was the Point of all this, this Trilogy also got the Symbiotes Completely Wrong and they were the Best Part that were Treated Dirty.

The word I see most when CoE comes up is 'devastating'. It's the same word I came up with, the first time I decided to talk about it with anyone. What makes that devastation so powerful, is that at every step of the government's decisions, you can see and feel just how trapped they are. How powerless. I found myself incensed with their decisions. And outraged and furious with their actions. I also had to admit there were simply no other better choices. In the real world, there was only compliance or extinction. Except you know they'd never destroy humanity because then they'd have no 'drug'. Meaning we comply, or face global slavery. Faced with the same situation, I'm certain the world governments would do exactly what they did in Children of Earth. Devastating.

  • @pdgenoa6975

In my 60 plus years, I can honestly say Children of Earth may be the most powerful thing I've ever seen on television. I love shows and movies with positive, uplifting and happy - or at least satisfying - endings. Everything about CoE _should_ have made me not like it. Yet I not only liked it, I loved it. The acting was perfect, and the script, damn near flawless. It is the most emotionally draining, morally heartbreaking, and intellectually devastating thing I've ever watched. And no matter how many times I've rewatched it, none of those things are diminished even a little.

@ honestly, anything Sony makes with Marvel characters is a hard pass for me now. Kraven looks decent but like you say in your review, they clearly don’t know what they’re doing with these characters and personally I don’t think they creatively care. At this point, it’s like Fox making FANT4STIC just to retain the film rights to the Fantastic Four. It feels like Sony wants to retain the Spider-Man film rights while also keeping Marvel and Disney on side, because they’re just sh*tting out anything now.

This is trivial rubbish the darkest Doctor Who stories are in the 1970's Inferno with Nazi Parallel Earth being ultimately destroyed, then Fang Rock with all but the doctor and leela surviving, then Image of Fendal and underworld along with state of decay the darkest element in doctor who how and why the techno gods the time lords destroyed civilisations like the conquestadors they time looped planets and the great vampire wars a war so terrible that the time lords much like the generation following world war one they didn't want to get involved in cosmic wars again. This series isn't Dr who for me its not even UNIT and really i found its like a low budget mission impossible and like the not very good film series it barely touches what is good about the original premise.

So 'Bad Wolf' is a really silly episode of Doctor Who. Somehow RTD thought The Weakest Link and Big Brother will still be relevant in three centuries time, but then it turns out The Doctor accidentally created a dystopia. Several episodes earlier he shut down all of Earth's infomation outlets which led to the population mindlessly consuming violent reality television and ending humanities golden age - which is actually a genius concept. The Doctor did what he thought was right, and it created hell on his favourite planet. And he had no idea. 'Children of the Earth' is very much going all in on that side of Doctor Who. It's fine to take the moral high ground when you're only in a world for 45 mins. Jack obviously hated sacrificing children to The 456 back in the 60's, but afterwards he can just zap away to somewhere else. In fact he does it at the end of 'Children of the Earth' too. The Doctor probably doesn't even know any of this happened, and that's terrifying.

The choice to give the 10% of children was unfortunately and disgustingly the only logical and safest one. Either that or complete extinction of humanity, it's horrifyingly obvious that humans would choose this over the death of entire species. But what's most horrifying is that, they didn't get rid of 456, they just killed the ambassador, with the rest of the species retreating (possibly because they saw humans found a way to fight back)

If you think the government WOULDN'T hand off our children without even a second thought you haven't been paying attention. And the people in the government & their enforcers in the military & police, THEIR children wouldn't be taken, it would start with orphans & homeless children then the homeschooled kids, if they still must sacrifice more they'd begin to stage accidents, especially in isolated areas, a chemical spill here, a gas leak there & wipe out the parents so they can't protest their children being taken. To keep the soldiers & police who are doing this they'd need to tell them about what's going on to some extent so there would probably first be loyalty tests within these forces, but that's roughly how they'd do it & with their media & social media allies they'd suppress any and all dissent, if places like Elon's Twitter refused they might take him out quietly & reassert control over it or just threaten his kids, something like that. But yeah, the government doesn't care about you & it certainly doesn't like you so its always best to be skeptical of it.

It kind of reminds me of "The Spy Who Came in From The Cold". Even when you think you're the "good guy" and you definitely want to believe that and live up to it circumstances can force you into a position where you can't do the right thing and otherwise good and well meaning people can have no choice but to do evil acts. It's a horrible idea and the worst thing is it's true. Jack needs to find the Doctor and confess. The Doctor has been in similar positions and may be able to help, being morally grey himself.
