Can you fit the white and snowblower down the alleys in your corrals?
Yes
nice drone footage, thanks Randy, was out to the farm today ( Elm Creek area ) a bit of snow, apparently a bit further west lots of snow... Winter has arrived!
Your the best Randy
No GPS Randy?? !!!
Probably burning more fuel than you expected with dry and somewhat frozen ground
Will Randy we all have run out of fuel , lol be well be safe enjoy life ,
running empty happens at times, good thing it wasn't on a weekend cows are looking good we have one of those Vibra shanks too but I think ours is a bit smaller
great dog work Randy , yes new stuff cost to much i always use old things laying around , be safe , be well, enjoy life ,
Thanks 👍
That dog is awesome!
Don't sweat it buddy, I've lost larger things than that. Like my car in a parking lot!
Looks good!
Randy things always happens to me too , i have a extra tool box with me always , be safe , be well, enjoy life , say hello to your wife for me ,
At 1:28 A spade ? I grew up knowing that as a sand shovel ?? A spade was use for digging a post hole and a tile line by hand.......normally open slates so the clay would not stick......thats a tiling spade. A normal spade is straight no open slates ! Not many folks out there know how to dig a post hole with a spade ! Can dig a post hole 4 feet deep on a few minutes. No need for a post hole digger .
Very interesting
We are new to the prairies (Saskatchewan) and its great to have other prairie farmers to watch and learn from!
Thank you what are do you live and what are you raising?
As you attempted to restart your tractor , my thoughts turned to the Schumacher power pack , I recently bought at Cndn Tire , comes in handy for times of weak batteries , when a guy does not have a vehicle with booster cables near by. ( good your tractor did restart though !) tractor repairs are a fact of farming , and as you stated in earlier posts , cows are just as happy receiving hay bales from a $15,000.00 tractor as they would be from a $150,000.00 tractor. Thanks for the video , Randy , hoping you have a good winter season upcoming !!
Thank you, I purchased a power pack from Cdn tire a couple of years ago, it’s very handy. What tractors do you have.
All old... JD4020 , a 4630 , a 1976 IHC black stripe 1566 , IHC 584 and a 784, I like them , and they help out when friends or siblings on hand , get the yard work and/or field work cover off promptly
Thanks for taking us along on your day. With winter on its way you can feel the urgency to get things done. Stay safe. Cheers
Nov 6 im near sundown pick n up a 24foot seed drill for next year
Nice, was it from Ken?
could be had to leave it on the of side of road east of sundown yesterday replace two tires and seed drill now needs to be put back on transport carrier later today I'm bringing my tractor from Sprague hook to the seed drill push it back on transport I may have to pull the drill down the road 24 foot wide 9 miles east to open erea where may work better
Looks like some nice corrals.
Are you the other Randy?😂
Man you need more subscribers what an amazing job your doing . Cant wait for the next vid.
I appreciate that!
Thank you, the plan is to be consistent and share my story. Where is home for you?
Montreal , and yes i am french canadian...lol
Perfect illustration of why the government isn't in food production. Each bale of slough hay would cost 10 times as much to make. Consumers have no clue how good they have it with regard to food supply. Bellyaching on a full stomach has become fashionable. One of the large grain merchants (Cargill) was asked why they don't purchase land and produce grain themselves instead of buying it. Simple answer. They could never produce grain for as cheap as independent farmers.
You have a captive audience at 16:05.
Thanks for the great aerial shots starting at 13:49.
RANDY great job and we got to see your Charing wife again , be well be safe enjoy life
I cant agree on your costs.......Ive been farming for 40 some years with the same old equipment. Repairs over those 40 years... dont even come close to what your suggesting ???? Example...... My Deutz tractor is a 1989 model. Over the years other then oil changes...... Ive spent less then 3000 dollars... on air conditioning unit.... an air blower.....and two new tires. Thats it. Fuel cost... separate of couse.......but I can not get 1.6 gallons per hour through it under full load ! Same is true with my 7000 dollar disc bine. Replace the knives yearly Maybe (40 dollars ) ....... otherwise... no costs. It still looks like the day I bought it. And works the same too. Everything else.....Maybe your on target
Thank you for your input, you do not have to agree with my costs. This are my numbers. If I had a business consultant, they would consider my numbers are to low. I have to look what is would be to replace that tractor and when repairs happen. The cattle are needed to pay the bills. Those Deutz tractors are very good and efficient tractors.
Beavers....... cattle and beavers do not mix. To get rid of beavers..... introduce cattle !
I had a buck deer get my electric fence caught on his antlers.... 200 meter / yards just vanished ! Never did find it back. Somewhere...some got some free wire ! I have this similar situation on my farm.. pete bog........ I tiled it every 8 meters. Some of the best hay ground ever ! I was told you cant drain peat soils. I does work to place gravel over top the tile lines every 20 yards. Mine is seldom wet for more then 2 days. However sometimes its not possible to get the " fall " to drain those areas.
charged $20 per bale just to drop straw for a rancher . He still had to bale and haul. So still pretty cheap
What would you have to pay for the same quality hay delivered to your farm?
I had a quote from someone that sells straw, deliverd to the yard $50.00 per bale. I would think that the bales wiegh about 1300 to 1400 pounds.
Haylage is something I’m really interested in, but there’s little to none of it done in our immediate area. Do you see a big advantage of it in terms of quality and palatability compared to dry hay?
Having a young plant will have the most amount of nutrients. Cutting hay young will sometimes have a challenge to get it for dry hay if the weather does not cooperate, so round bale haylage or silage could be an option. The quality will not improve in my mind if it made into haylage or dry hay. I use the example as an salad, would I want old salad or young salad.
Great job Randy , i enjoy cleaning stuff that i will not use till next year , but there was a time when i did not do that and boy it made even more work the next year , i hope your mom is doing well and the rest of your family also , be well be safe enjoy life ,
Thank you
G day Randy Boy pour old oil on manure spreader floor, it will preserve wood & oil chain yea dd would make us clean beaters too Boy doggies have it nice Ths
G day Randy Yes our horse & buggy neigbour grows field corn too was told he didn;t need fertilizer because of manure Thanks
Good morning Randy, I like the video! It kind of has an autumn vibe. I noticed two things. At minute 4:01 you can faintly see a rainbow. Don't they say you can make a wish? And I noticed something else: The right door of your 986 front loader is missing. What happened to it? Your farm looks absolutely beautiful from above... Kind autumn greetings
I bent the door hinges, and the door will not close properly. It is easier to get in and out for the summer.
WOW Randy lost of crap to move , great ideal to do it yourself , money saved to buy cat and dog food , i am sure they love that , be safe , be well, enjoy life
New Holland Sperry made good stuff
great job Randy ,, think of the money you have saved on buying less hay this winter for your cattle , i did see two lady's helping you wrap up those bales , one was your great wife with the sun hat i believe ,, ofc i could be wrong about the hat , be well, be safe, enjoy life ,
G day from Ontario Boy I can't get over how dogs r right there. Ths
It shows us, we are in the closed system: just as Bible said !!!
Hey randy, we usually sell some cull cows august september. Spreads some income out and the market is usually strong at this time of year. We bought a hand me down high crop pull sprayer a few years ago. For what we need it for, it works well. Sometimes we still hire some done but when possible we can do it ourselves.
Randy your work is never done , but it is nice to work on your place , i work for someone else 40 plus years , but i did make a living plus no headaches about bills , be well, be safe, enjoy life ,
yeah the storm was no fun
G day from Ontario. Yes neighbours tell me cattle prices are crazy right now Boy doggie got out of the way Good luck with sprayer Ths
Some nice animals.
I always liked Prairie Farm Report videos on cattle handling facilities for ideas
Sorry.........but when you state...... " another stream of income" It reminds me of Greg Judy.... hes got his cattle... UA-cam in come...... guard dog income.... mushroom income... timeless fence income...bull sales income.....heifer sales income... I could go on and on and on. Bottom line........ how many streams of income does a farmer need to survive ?????? Curious ??
the shirt is not flannel and I protect arms from the sun. We need to be diversified, we are at the mercy of the weather. When a drought or commodity price drops, we can be at a negative margin. I’m willing to work and if I fail that’s my responsibility.
G day from Ont Watching dogs go inpen, reminded me of our dog, he got tied up every night when 8-830 pm came around he would sit were he would be tied up & wait to be tied up routine Yes I live inhouse front of farm. Neighbour {all neighbours are horse & buggy} he get cows in on pasture too The neighbours all stocked cattle to about 1000 lbs, it seems if 1 does they all do it some fatten . Thanks
Are those combine tires on that baler?
Yes, they came off a Co-op combine
Randy i can see you both are getting something out of your friendship , it is nice to see Gav learning stuff he could use in this life many year to come , Be safe , Be well, Enjoy life .
Hey randy, Gav seems to have an answer for everything !!🤣 doing a good job👍👍
We really enjoy having him around. He is a smart boy!
yeah he did great baling, i see you have a white top 914, i didnt get to use my red top this year, hope next year has lots for it
I haven’t used mine for 10 years. It’s only costing we space.
