Making an Arrow Saw with a Black Locust Base
Переглядів 2,3 тис.5 років тому
I wanted to make an arrow saw so I thought I'd bring you guys along for the ride! The base and the stop are made from Black Locust that I harvested, sawed, dried and milled from my own property. Black Locust is very dense and hard and has a grain pattern similar to cherry, but with a greenish/yellow tint and is as hard as hickory. The saw can be purchased from Harbor Freight or from Amazon. Response to Wranglerstar's sling swivel cap question
Переглядів 2,7 тис.8 років тому
Wranglerstar had a question regarding the purpose of a sling swivel cap. I happen to have a firearm with two of those attached. It's a 1952/1953 Remington 760 in 30-06 that my father gave to me for Christmas in the early 1970's.
Log arch - first use
Переглядів 3,4 млн10 років тому
Just finished making a Log Arch. This is my first attempt at welding. The welds aren't pretty, but they're functional. This makes hauling logs around so much easier! Here’s a video with measurements. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to view and comment! ua-cam.com/video/t5dtoLL21WI/v-deo.html

    Looks great. But I would think a "spine" over the top "T" would keep it from bending/ breaking the weld.

      @@gman77gas 10 years of carrying pine, black locust, cherry, and oak logs and no problems. I’m thinking I’m gonna be ok. I’ll let you know when/if it breaks.

    How creative and beautiful is this!! To create a family heirloom out of nature's own beautiful wood with it's gorgeous grain to replicate a major planet. Kudos Scott! I know you could market this easily but then it wouldn't be special would it. John Fischer

    I called the other day.2 inch tubing was $12 or 15 per foot. Instead of 45 degree tubing in the front you could use flat plate gussets. Thanks for the info. It looks like it would do the job. I was wondering about the tires and axles. You answered that. Those are not lawnmower rider tires. Good to know.Thanks

    Neat to see another method of getting firewood out of the woods. I've been just bucking the logs right where they lay, using a $40 pickaroon to bring the rounds out to the nearest trail on my property, then hauling with a little dump cart back to my splitter.

    • @scottwilson78
      @scottwilson78 Рік тому

      Thanks… but I do the same as you for firewood. These logs are for lumber. I use the log arch to keep sand and dirt off the logs and to keep from tearing up my property.

    All these over engineered log haulers are a big waste of time. I see the one that has a simple grab and pull as the best solution to getting wood into the ramp fo4r sawing.

    cool! Quick upgrade suggestion- weld a 30" section of chain where you use the tie down strap and a hook on the opposite side so once you lift the log, the chain drops down and all you have to do is hook it on the other side
