Wings and Things Model Show | 2024
Never been to Wings and Things model show before, but even though it is slightly smaller than Stoke, it was really a good show.
Before we start the video would like to say thank you to the Sheffield South guys for for another corker table display. Also congrats to Paul from the Sheffield South for his tank winning the best military model any scale.
Also had a lovely chat to Nick while we were waiting for our food. Hope you had a great day and had a safe journey home.
Also please watch the footage from the 144 sig, had a lovely chat with Terry, his modelling techniques and what medium he uses is simply astonishing, real modelling.

Any cross compare between different manufacturers Puma series? Ryefield got two sets of rubber tires. Don’t need to stole tires from Afvclub anymore. Definitely year of Puma, Ryefield, Miniart, Dragon.
Probably watching this cast to my TV has proven to be my down fall. Best series of build uploads I’ve watched, and we’ve watched many. The detail you craft into your builds is unbelievable, so much so she who must be obeyed indicated very loudly she has an idea after she watched this series with me (no choice, cast to our smart TV to watch on big screen) working on a WWII short film and she wants spitfires, me109’s, a Stuka and some other bloody German bomber she found. Oh guess who has taken up modelling, back to my younger years and really enjoying myself, paint glue everywhere but getting there. Thanks fella, I’m learning new tricks, appreciated
Where was this Show and is it around this time every year ?
More impressive than CGI.
Thank you👍👍
Nice to see the VF-1J Armoured Valkyrie. Those kits never get enough love... 😀
I know what you mean, there were quite a few rare ones for me👍👍
Building this at the moment. The instructions are nonsensical & a lack of illustrations of the internal layout makes it necessary to think hard about the build process. No part numbers on the sprues - the parts diagrams of course DO help but there is no logic regarding the placing of the parts on the sprues or the numbering so while say subassembly parts 124 & 126 may be together on the sprue, part 125 is on another sprue altogether! Also parts are called out in the instructions by number but NO corresponding parts on the diagrams or the sprues themselves! Absolutely NONE of the radar operators cockpit will be seen once assembled so don't waste too much time on it. You can pose the doors open but even then little will be seen! That said fit is so far very good & the level of detail - especially that nose gear is incredible!
Dear Mr Frontline, I suspect “a lie down” may be a little excessive. Perhaps “a good sit down and a cup of tea”? Looks excellent! Regards, Z
I got drawn in to both your build and the build at RTB models by the story. Both the builds are fantastic. I went over to watch the last Hurricane video at RTB yesterday and the whole series was gone. Do you know what happened?
looks like AIMS will be closed due to problems with health of John Mcillmurray
I saw that hope he is ok, been told he is still going to be selling items what he has left and hopefully he gets back going again👍👍

You are an artists and craftsman... Well done... Beautiful... BRAVO SIR!
Ater the WnW debacle, I'm not buying anything off these guys ever again
Too bad the revell ju88A4 is a rare kit. But...the second scheme is the one I like. It looks so different than anything else on the sheet.
Yeah it is rare, but hopefully Revell see that this kit may need re-releasing. Good job I have 5 in the stash🤣🤣
This was also known in Europe as PSP - Pierced Steel Planking.
Yeah are 100% correct, thank you👍👍
Ive stumbled on this channel wow i have this kit in my stash its next up
The most beautiful riveting I have ever seen... Kudos 😎
Thank you very kind👍👍
Where you in the guards 💂♀️ due to the blue red blue patch at the start you video
No, that is my mate Lenny from @rtbmodels, he was in the Grenadier Guards Regiment.
For the tire grooves, use the extra thin to slightly melt the grooves after scribbling them.
Good point forgot about that. Thanks for the heads up👍👍
Inspiring work. Thank you!
Absolutely Awesome :)
Really appreciate the kind comment, thank you👍👍
I'm new here to your channel just watched all three videos, you got some skill buddy.
Thank you it means a lot, I am sure your skills are equal if not better👍👍
You do incredible work Sir! Great watch with Morning coffee here in DETROIT
Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed the video👍👍
Fantastic build, I'm new to your channel, but I just wanted to say how talented you are and your work is tremendous!
Thank you for joining my channel, really appreciate that👍👍 I do try to get everything right in some ways, but as we all know, we are our own worst critics. Again thank you for the very kind comments, means a lot👍👍

I realise that sounds like a nazi with a speech impediment now that i read it back .
Yeah after the riveting I need it🤣
Impressed with the rivets
Thank you really appreciate it👍👍
Fab….part 3!
Thank you, Part 4 soon👍👍
Wow! Loved the Mosquito build series and this, of one of my fave aircraft, is going to be brilliant. The seatbelts are designed to try the patience and swearing skills of a saint!
It was a great show, but this video was exactly what I needed to see. Close ups and unlimited pauses! My thanks for uploading it.
Yeah it was a great show, and I know what you mean the models was a great mojo build. Thank you again👍👍
Having read the history of the Flying Fortress in the book of the same name, the “Legend” says that on one mission one of the planes of the group was fending off the enemy aircraft and that the bomber was stricken badly enough that it signaled its surrender. But when two of the Luftwaffe pilots came in to escort them to a nearby landing site they were shot down by the damaged bomber’s crew , and then the enemy subsequently tore the bomber to pieces! Thereafter they, the Luftwaffe supposedly had a vendetta against the 100th Bomb Group! But no-one can actually substantiate that the incident actually happened! I personally believe that it was started after a raid in which the group lost every aircraft except for one,”Rosie’s Riveter’s!” And they came back with several engines out and several casualties! Robert Rosenthal and the crew of Rosie’s Riveter’s were quite a famous aircraft and crew!

The Doyusha kit is a piece of junk. Poor fit, raised panel lines on the fuselage, but recessed on the wings. What joints were they smoking? Typical 1970’s moulds.
Thank You, love building Pacific US/Japanese. -Detroit
Thats no problem, this PSP plate can be place either Europe or Pacific. Be great to see a Pacific build of yours👍👍
..отлично !..
Thank you👍👍
Cool 🛩
Thank you so much👍👍
How long do you wait before removing unwanted wash?
Amazing detailing Rob, the wiring installation is fantastic!
Yes, sorry for your loss. we, who have pets completley understand. Frank was put down three years ago at age 13, still miss the big black lug.
BLOODY HELL!!!
A wonderful collection of models on this show. This gives me a few inspiring building ideas 💡 Thanks for showing, subbed 💥👍💥
Thank you so much, I know what you mean, I get the same feeling when driving back from a show👍👍
Can’t believe I missed this 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Thats no problem there is always another time, same time next year👍👍
Have a stash of Aims decals and resins sets as well and am a big fan of Luftwaffe. Great stuff but way too many choices.
There are a few choices, good to have a few mates to do other schemes from this set. And I am like you love doing Luftwaffe subjects and I have loads of decals and resin sets from Aims👍👍
Ive built the sword 1/72 version of this gannet twice and this seems like a upscale of that actual kit,,even so ive ordered one as ive had my picture took with this exactly aircraft on the deck of the ark royal when i was younger ,,,great review....
😎👍Truly totally very cool and very nicely greatly wonderfully spectacular in every way shape and form provided indeed!👌.
So glad you liked the video and thank you so much👍👍
The only good part of this video is 28:06, Thunderbird 2. A model from a TV series that rescued people.
There were plenty of civilian models at the show including some great build of the RNLI life boats at 12.14. I can understand that military topics can get wearisome in scale modelling. But many modellers have a keen interest in history and honuring the memory of the fallen.
I second what @chancerNW says. I do absolutely agree that the Thunderbird 2 was awesome in every way, I loved that Tv series and one that got me into action men and in some degree got me into modelling. But there were and is at many shows great model kits that sends my head spinning with ideas. We all have different likes and please do not take this as having a go👍👍
@@frontlinemodelhobbies653 I respect your comments. I'm not a pacifist, however I see people enjoy violence, the enjoy creating models that reflect what these were originally in wars. I remember someone once said about violence in so-called entertainment: "In order to enjoy violence you need victims, I would not want you to be one of them." Also he said: "If we're not careful we will embrace anarchy. People enjoy violent entertainment because they are not the victim. The creation of toys etc that reflect violence I believe is wrong. Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's Thunderbirds was such a success in the 60's and today there are more fans. Why? Because it was about rescuing people not exploring people's suffering for the sake of entertainment. As I mentioned at the beginning, I respect you comments, that is your right. 👍😀
Ju88G decals are great but the availability of Ju88G conversion sets for the Revell Ju88a are very rare
Depends, I know if you get in touch with John he may have a few for sale or depends if Hannants have them in. Will have to see👍👍
G'Day! Very cool decal set but 28 choices when you will only build one seems a bit pointless. As for which scheme? They're all great though the Wellenmuster schemes would definitely test your airbrush and skills. And what is "cobalt reduced RLM76?"" Cheers
I think the idea would be for spares, or even if you want to do more than one then they are there, but most decal sheets are like that. Also if you know 27 other people then you could help others out. The schemes are very nice as you say, but sure on Cobalt reduced, I will check that out.
@@frontlinemodelhobbies653 I just googled the "reduced cobalt" - basically a very pale RLM76. Cheers
WNr 620561 is the scheme that grabbed my eye, its a little bit of all the German camo forms in one. Although I'd be interested in watching Rob tackle a molted camo.
Cheers mate I always love a challenge, especially Luftwaffe schemes. That scheme is very nice, to be fair I like a few and may do quite a number on the sheet.
I thought the owner had to stop doing this for health reasons? Great decals and a thorough collection of ju88's
Yeah he did mention that he will stop but for reasons I do not know yet, he is able to continue for the time being. Hope that helps with your question 👍👍
Really cool model show. 👍
