    MY FATHER (RIP) WW2 VETERAN AND PURPLE HEART COMBAT ENGINEER HAD V.A. OPERATE A HERNIA, BUT HE WAS RECALLED FOR THEM TO REDO THE STITCHES. AFTER THE OPERATION AND WHEN HE WOKE UP THE DOCTOR AND NURSE WITH A STUPID EXPRESSION IN THEIR FACE (NORMAL TO THE VA) APOLOGIZED STATING THEY DID THE WRONG OPERATION AND "ACCIDENTALLY" REMOVED HIS APPENDIX... I'M A GULF WAR VET AND WHEN THEY CALLED ME IN ONE DAY TO CHECK MYSELF FOR POSSIBLE CHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL WEAPONS EXPOSURE, AND WHILE CHECKING MYSELF THEY ASKED ME TO SEE THE SHRINK, WHICH I DID NOT WANT. THE NURSE WHO ASKED ME USED TO BE A COMBAT MEDIC, SO HE TALKED ME INTO GOING AND THE DR DIAGNOSED ME WITH PTSD (SUCKS!). ONE DAY AND AFTER 32 YEARS FROM BEING IN DESERT STORM, SUDDENLY I STARTED HAVING FLASHBACKS! TO MAKE THE STORY SHORT, THE VA FAILED ME AND I HAD TO SPEND $700 TO DETERMINE WHY THIS WAS HAPPENING. THE PRIVATE DOCTOR (NOT INCOMPETENT LIKE THE VA) DIAGNOSED THAT MY VA PRIMARY PROVIDER WAS PRESCRIBING ME HIGH CHOLESTEROL PILLS, BUT NEVER FOLLOWED UP TO CHECK AND MY CHOLESTEROL WAS FINE BUT I WAS CONTINUING TO FOLLOW DR. ORDERS TAKING THE PILLS, WHICH ENDED "LOWERING MY TESTOSTERONE LEVELS" SO LOW THAT IT CAUSED ME TO HAVE THE EFFECTS. THIS AFFECTED MY SLEEP, THEREFORE MY WORK. WHEN I TOLD VA THE ASSHOLE PRIMARY PROVIDER AT FIRST, THE BITCH GOT MAD AT ME BUT AFTER REVIEWING THE REPORT FROM THE PRIVATE DOCTOR SHE STATED, "THIS REPORT IS VERY GOOD"... (OF COURSE WITH THE STUPID LOOK LIKE MOST WHO WORK AT VA HAVE) VETERANS WE CAN'T SUE VA FOR MEDICAL MALPRACTICE, THEREFORE WE ARE GUINEA PIGS TO THOSE WHO PRACTICE MEDICINE THERE. THIS IS SOMETHING WE NEED TO BRING TO TRUMP AND HIS ADMINISTRATION IN 2025 SO THEY CAN COMBAT THE CORRUPTION AT VETERAN ADMINISTRATION! I just made my first AR 308 - Aero Precision with 24 inch 6.5 complete upper that didn't come with a adjustable gas block. Fired my own reload 140 grain match burner w/39.5g IMR 4350 that's a mid load based on the reload data. The first 50 rounds were one shot bolt latch test. It would first not eject and eventually started to eject but never bolt catch. I just took a look at the gas block and there was a lot of carbon on the barrel and under the gas tube on rhe barrel. The Aero lower is a carbine tube with 3.8 oz buffer. I took off thw gas block to check the gas hole and it looked fine and I reinstalled the non adjustable gas block. Aero said the gas was carbon and it will seal eventually after 500 rounds. My bcg is Brownells brand and I will do the WD-40/ compressor test tomorrow for leakage. What was your conclusion and suggestion

    • @crazyhawk99
      @crazyhawk99 2 місяці тому

      @@irwinyuen7789 first of all, I am shocked Aero said the gas system would seal eventually. That’s crazy. It sounds like it is under gassed because it is bleeding off gas around the block. Is your barrel and gas block Aero brand? How dung did your gas block slide over the barrel? It should be pretty snug, but you shouldn’t have to hammer it on or anything like that. Defined still do the compressor test on the BCG. You want to know if it is leaking gas there too. In my case, after 3 new BCG (2 different brands) leaking at the gas key on the BCG, we just removed the gas key and re-bedded it and staked it down. For what it’s worth, I have built a few 308s and no problems. This was my first 6.5CM. Keep in mind my video was just after COVID when things started coming back to life. I think industry QC was an issue at the time. I will be doing a couple more 65CM in the near future. Let me know how it goes. Happy to chat on the phone sometime if you’d like. I did not go with a low mass BCG. The low mass BCG seems to be a common solution or an easy fix to 6.5 AR-10 cycling issues. After trying multiple BCGs, with different coatings, you found the gas key was leaking where it mated to the BCG. This gas leak was a consistent problem with all the BCG we tried the build. Ultimately, we went with a regular Wilson Combat AR-10 BCG paired with a carbine buffer system. To get the best performance from the adjustable gas block I replaced the gas key & bedded it with Loctite 620, that fixed the gas leak and all cycling issues.

    One problem with the Wheeler system is that scopes can have tolerance stacking and the reticle might not be perfectly in line with the turrets. High end scopes probably will have less than 1º angular error from tolerance stacking, but in cheeper scopes, typically used for the fast dropping .22lr, this can be significant at longer ranges. I have the real avid kit and really like that it levels the reticle directly. It is specially useful for guns with a picatinny rail, and it pairs up well with their ultimate gun vise that has an angle adjustment knob. On old school rifles, it can be a little harder to level everything since there's no flat top hanguard. One have to be careful that while the kit is great to level the reticle (and not the scope turrets) with gravity, it doesn't guarantee the scope/reticle is leveled with the rifle/barrel. It is possible to have the reticle perfectly level and the rifle slightly canted (which some people find more comfortable) but i would advise against it since you would have an offset barrel which creates a whole new set of problems. That's why you should put a bubble level on the receiver, usually behind the scope or between its rings. The vise and table DO NOT need to be perfectly level (but they usually are anyway), just the reticle and rifle. Another tip is using the app "Measure" on your iPhone that can be more precise than a bubble level, measuring as little as 1º errors (just remember to remove the phone case, models with squared edges are better). I use it to even align barrel nuts / handguards and timing muzzle devices.

    Thank you for the comparison video. I own two sets of the 45 degree MBUS Pros and several sets of the MBUS 2 sights. I need another set of backups and I noticed the MBUS 3s in the gun store and it is the first time that I have seen them. I was looking for a set of Pros, but since they are truly going to be "backup sights" I am questioning why I need the Pros when my MBUS 2 sights have worked well for years. Based on what I can see in your video, the front post on the MBUS 3s is significantly shorter than on the MBUS 2s and it is thinner. Again thank you for the video. My search continues.

      That is good ammo for sure, but this isn’t my choice of a home defense weapon. I much prefer a handgun for a myriad of reasons, but primarily because it can be used with only one hand and much less chance of over penetration. Thanks for the feedback and for taking the time to watch my video.

    Great Review with the MBUS. Have a question. I noticed the front post of MBUS Gen 3 and MBUS Pro have the easy to use turning knob but the arrow is opposite direction compared to the MBUS Gen 2. Any particular reason? Does the front post on MBUS Gen 3/Pro rotate different UP or Down as it would in the MBUS Gen 2?

    I couldn't stand shooting my Shockwave, so I put on an SB Tactical brace. It was legal when I put it on, so there it stays. I had an Opsol adapter for the mini shells, but recently discovered the new adapter from, Defender Tactical. Much improvement. It allows you to be able to shoot any size 12 guage shell from 1 3/4 to 3" without removing the adapter. You have to remove the trigger group and install the adapter. Once done, no worries about it falling out. The Streamlight TL Racker works great. I also replaced the front bead with a luminescent one from XS sights. I may apply a shell card to the receiver as well. Have a good new year. 🇺🇸

      @crazyhawk99 9 місяців тому

      Kurt, thanks for the info on the Defender Tactical adapter. I'll have to check that out. As for the brace on your Shockwave, you may want to think hard about leaving in on there. When all this brace stuff came up last year, the ATF came out and specifically addressed the brace on pistol "shotguns" and they said braces were never approved by them for those applications. I'm not a lawyer, but if they come after you, you would be looking at 10 years and $250K in fines... plus legal expenses. Thanks for watching my video and for taking the time to comment!

    Still saving up to get my 1st AR up & running. Got lower to 16" upper in Oct., but I still need sights, sling, light, etc. As well as ammo. My 2nd I'd like to build a heavy 20" SPR type to see how far out I can touch with practice. Maybe some day.

    Why not just level the gun and use a plumb bob to level the reticle

    • @crazyhawk99
      @crazyhawk99 9 місяців тому

      The plumb bob method can work, but you still must have a way to confirm the gun is level.
