That's so kind of you to say, thank you! I'm really glad you enjoyed the video, Adam 🙂😃
Great video, thanks for sharing. Cheers.
Much appreciated. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks again for watching, Adam :)
Another great video. Keep them coming. Liked, subscribed and commented. Cheers Adam.
Thanks again 😀
Great content. Liked, subscribed, commented and binge watched.
Thank you loads. I hope you enjoy the other videos. I will have a new one exploring Wentworth Woodhouse in a couple of weeks. Thanks again for watching, Adam :)
Great content. I just recently found your channel and have been binge watching it all. Liked, subscribed and commented. Cheers.
Hello from England! It's lovely to hear that you're enjoying my videos. I also really appreciate that you've taken the time to leave a couple of nice comments as it inspires me to keep doing what I'm doing. Many thanks for watching, Adam :)
Where do find out information about opening times? I want to visit next year but cant see anything anywhere. Thanks for the video!
I checked on the following link earlier this year. Usually Wednesday afternoons from April as you can see on the link. Check back early next year to see if they change days or times. Thanks again for watching. It's a lovely quiet place to have a look around. Adam :) www.visitheritage.co.uk/things-to-do/wotton-house-p683881
@@AdamExploresBritain Thanks for the reply, i've been exploring the country houses of the country over the past few years, been to about 100!
@@KS-oc4hu Wow, you're doing well there! I've done quite a few and a couple of years ago decided to start videoing my visits instead of just taking photos. There's something so fascinating about these estates that keeps me wanting to explore them. Have fun, Adam :)
@@AdamExploresBritain Im currently just taking photos. I have a flickr page if you want some ideas.
Can combine with a trip to the nearby Wentworth Woodhouse
Oh yes! I went to Wentworth Woodhouse the next day. I'll be editing and uploading a video of that day in the next few weeks. Thanks for watching, Adam :)
Cheer~~~having a dignified, unhurried, and grand manner--- majestic in manner and appearance.😊
Trash built on the back of of the colony's expense
If youre ever down london way please take me with you to a stately home that you know lots about so i can get an irl guided tour 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for video. This place is always on my list to see but something always come up.
You're very welcome, I enjoyed making it. It's a lovely place with some nice views. Thanks for watching and stopping by to leave a nice comment, it's much appreciated. Adam :)
I really enjoy your tours. The history of the Wentworth estates is fascinating, I'm very familiar with Wentworth-Woodhouse, it's a palace, I always wondered about the castle. I always thought these huge estates were entailed and the property and title both went to the heir. I know they are near to each other and as they were trying to outdo one another I was wondering if you can see one from the other. Thanks for sharing, love it.
I don't think you can quite see one from the other. I think it was said that Wentworth Woodhouse was over the other side of the hill that you can see whilst looking out at the view from where the temple is near the South front of this house. I did go to Wentworth Woodhouse the following day so I'll be putting that video up in the coming weeks when I get the chance to edit it. I even went to the garden centre next door to find a couple of things there which were originally part of the Wentworth Woodhouse gardens. Thanks again, Adam 🙂
Thanks for sharing this Adam - always wanted to see inside the house, never had the chance when its been open - got some great shots in there 🙂
No worries. Yeah, I noticed they had some house tours going on this year so I thought I would go along and see what it was like in there whilst checking out the gardens and grounds. Thanks for watching again, Adam 🙂
Fabulous little toodle around , couldn't get over the amount of craved plaster reliefs this house has
Yeah, they were pretty impressive. I especially liked the bits in the tall staircase hall with the colourful ceiling. They'd asked us on the tour not to film too low as there were still college students/staff around which is why I mostly filmed the ceilings etc in most rooms. To be fair, most of the stuff at a lower level had been removed apart from chimneypieces anyway, so you didn't miss much. Thanks again for joining me on my tootle around, Adam :)
Thank you for another great look round. The grounds are vast, much bigger than I expected and like a hero you walked miles to record it. Super job!
Yeah, I never imagined that the grounds were so big before I got there. The place really exceeded my expectations. I would definitely visit quite often if I was local, as the place has a lovely feel to it with great views. Many thanks for watching again, always appreciated, Adam :)
Winston Churchill’s mother, Jenny Jerome an American heiress, was married to the 9th Duke’s brother Randolph. Consuelo Vanderbilt was forced by her mother to marry the Duke so she could be a duchess in exchange for the money that saved Blenheim. Such a sad, sad story.
Thanks for sharing that with us. Adam :)
The workmanship is fantastic!
Yes, it's gorgeous. I really enjoyed this place! Thanks for watching, Adam :)
These guys rolled heavy back in the day You can't get more prestige than this. Could you imagine carrying your girl home to meet your parents for the first time😂😂😂
Oh yes, like Richie Rich. Or Gregory Gregory in this case! 😃😄
Brought back so many memories of both KW Hse and Blaise. Both estates were 'our back garden' and my son grew up walking along the top from Blaise to KW. Thank you so much. Can you do one of Blaise which you drove through at the very beginning. ❤❤❤
Yes, I'm going to try to go back one day to Blaise. I was tempted to go on the same day, but it was getting late by the time I'd finished at KW and I needed to get back home. I'm really glad you found the video interesting. Many thanks for your lovely comment, Adam :)
All those wine bars long gone from my youth. Dump then, dump now, as are most towns.
Lovely tour - nice info -- good watch - Thanks appreciated- Awesome Chatsworth- the water and Joseph Paxton - Wonderful
Thanks for your kind comments, and thanks a lot for watching. I'm really glad you enjoyed it, Adam :)
Adam, if your goal is to make me feel like I have a friend in the UK who is nice enough to show me around the great country homes of the UK, you have succeeded. I line in Rockford, Illinois, 90 miles NW of Chicago. My ancestors were from Yalding Parish, south of Maidstone. Thank you for the tours
That's a lovely thing to say, thank you. I read that at work earlier and it brightened up my day. I'm glad you're enjoying coming along on the tours with me and I hope you enjoy the ones in the future. Thanks a load, very much appreciated, Adam :)
Stayed at Wilderhope Manor, when Youth Hostelling back in 1959. I loved the place, it was exciting. It had no electric lighting then, and the huge dormitory I slept in had a single oil lamp which was extinguished at 9pm by the care taker. Still remember to this day, needing to go to the bathroom in the early hours. It was pitch black and I mean pitch black; I had to feel my way along the walls, unbolt the door to the spiral staircase, descend the stairs and open the door at the foot of the staircase. Fortunately the toilet had a oil lamp. How times change. A great experience.
Sounds like a good little adventure! I don't think health and safety would be too happy about that these days haha. Great memories. Thanks for watching my video, Adam :)
A view that spans the length of the room would be nice to see thanks
Great vid. Is there a seperate exit for the hotel guest car park? I know for day visitors there's an exit where you have to pay at the end, so wouldn't want to end up there! Thanks!
Yes, the exit road from the hotel bypasses the barriers that you're thinking of where you have to pay. The exit road eventually merges with the regular exit road and then you leave as normal onto the main road. Going back some years there used to be someone who would check your hotel booking on the road exit from the hotel, but I havn't seen that for a few years. Adam :)
@@AdamExploresBritain Thanks for your reply! It is my first time staying there so is much appreciated :)
@@lukeypat No worries. Have a great time 👍😀

Back in the early days in 1998-99, that hole where you drop through would be completely covered by the wet ice machines. They are still working those machines, but not to the point where the whole tunnel is submerged in fog.
Yeah, I remember the look of 'steam' coming out of the hole being a lot thicker and more prevalent :)
@@AdamExploresBritain Yeah and for me, that just takes a lot of the tenseness out of the ride. Ok granted dropping vertically is gonna make your heart go weak, but now you can see the track when you do look down when hanging off the end, whereas back then because the hole was completely engulfed by the fog or steam as you put it coming from those dry ice machines which were far more reliable it really made it a lot more chilling, quite literally. And of course you don't hear the voice saying "Don't Look Down." anymore.
Totally agree :)
In its heyday, it must have been a very tastefully decorated grand home.
I expect so. There may be photos or drawings online. Thanks for watching, Adam 🙂
I see this kinver every week
Can i do work experience here
I'm not sure. Try info@hagleyhall.com for any enquiries, would be my advice :)
Where's the entrance to the batcave???
They need to power spray wash that mold off. It'll harm the facade of the house.
A wall of tall trees would help and better patio furniture.
It is not patio furniture. The tables are part of the cafe on the lower ground floor. Entrance to the cafe is next to the blue picnic table. Walk up a little way into the grounds and you can see both the Severn Bridges over to Wales. The woodland is beautiful. A child's paradise.
This is a grand palace which has been gradually ruined with vulgar cheap ornamentation, a pub-type bar, haphazard cluttered furniture and junk.
I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and for watching my video. The house has had various uses since being a private residence so I'm sure most of the valuable furniture and fittings were removed many many years ago in one way or another. I hope you found it interesting anyway to see what has happened to the place, and thanks for your honest opinion. Adam 🙂
Wow! I've never seen or heard of this house before and it's so elegant. I'm getting a "petite trianon" vibe from it. Not from its decorations but from its size and intentions. It is a large grand house built on a smaller scale. Put in plumbing and electric and this could be a livable house today.
Strangely, I only came across the place for the first time last year! I believe that several people clubbed together and now live on the upper floors of the house in some form of communal living arrangement (not sure exactly if it's leased or what). The lower floors are used for weddings and other functions on occasion. Thanks for watching, Adam :)
Hi Adam, thanks for showing us around King Weston, fantastic place - enjoyed 🙂
Thanks again pal, glad you liked it. Adam :)
I enjoy your lingering probing looks around these old places. Many this era houses in Virginia have been burned or otherwise destroyed so I can get some idea of how they may have looked and how it felt to be in them. Thank you.
That's very kind, thank you. I'm really glad you find them enjoyable/interesting. Thanks for watching, Adam :)
Thumbs up, liked and commented. That bar seems out of place, but the rest of the house is fantastic
Yeah, I think the bar must be there for the wedding functions that it holds sometimes nowadays. Thanks for dropping by again, much appreciated, as usual. Adam 🙂👍
Very interesting... the house is lovely 😊
Yeah, it's smaller than a lot of the country houses I visit but I think it looks great, especially from the main front. Good to see one of Vanbrugh's smaller houses. I only heard of it for the first time in a book last year, so it was a relatively new one to me. Thanks for watching, Adam :)
@AdamExploresBritain if we are ever down that way we'll be sure to take a look!
@@chrisisjustme7546 Lovely place for a walk etc. Would definitely recommend. Free parking etc pretty much right next to the house/grounds. Little cafe using part of the house 👍
@@AdamExploresBritain 👍
The cafe (with the blue tiles) has really good quality food. Cafe is much nicer and cheaper than the restaurant .
Magnificent absolutely Amazingly Beautiful! 👌💕
It is! Thanks for watching, Adam :)
It is Tudor gothic as it looks similar Architecture to Hamden Court Palace that was occupied by King Henry 8th before Queen Elizabeth 1st but if it was built in Queen Victoria's Raine we would say that it is Victorian in the Tudor Style 👍
Thanks for another wonderful tour with great presentation and information. 😊
Thanks a lot, that's very kind. Glad you enjoyed it, Adam :)
Hi, are you a member of Historic Houses? They are mostly privately owned in my opinion, and membership allows free entry to many of their interiors; some are by tours, and some free-flow. We very much enjoy watching your video commentaries. Thanks and Regards JB
Hello. No, I'm not currently a member, but I'm looking into doing it one year and getting some value out of it. Maybe next year, or the year after it. I've been looking at the houses that they give access to. I'm glad you enjoy my videos, I'll probably have a new one up in the next week or so. Thanks a lot, Adam :)
It would have been so much better if you’d have let that guide go on before you and filmed it without his voice, it’s very distracting
Probably, but it's hard on a guided tour as you're expected to be in the same room at the same time. Sometimes it's fortunate that they allow me to film at all in these houses as they don't always allow it. Sometimes it's either film with the additional voice of the guide, or not at all, and a lot of people like to see inside the house. Thanks for watching though, and I understand your comment. Adam :)
Hmm, charity shops, nail bars and Turkish barbers...plus the obligatory Wetherspoons. A shadow of it's former self pre Tesco...
Butchers (top class) bakers, fishmongers, jewelers, hairdresser, dentist, cobbler, hardware, boutique, sandwich shop, restaurants, takeaway, laundry, pub, market, skin care clinic, antiques, carpet and furniture. ODFOD.
Just found this on UA-cam and LOVE it. I’ve lived in nearby Codsall all my life. I really must visit! Thankyou for making me aware of what is on my doorstep!
You're very welcome, thank you! Yeah, it's a lovely place, you should visit some time. They still have a couple of guided walks this year according to their website. There may be more events next year similar to the one I went to. Thanks again, Adam. See here: www.chillingtonhall.co.uk/whats-on
The family name Giffard is pronounced with a soft “G". It originates in France, from the Norman Conquest. The family have owned Chillington since then.
Yes, thanks. I realised this during our tour, but it was a bit too late by then, haha.
What a lovely classical house, I think I just love Attingham Park, so realy nice.
Glad you liked it. It was good exploring the remains of the airfield buildings too! Thanks again for watching, Adam 😀🙂
Another wonderful tour, thank you so much.
Thank you again. The gardens were beautifully kept here. I was really impressed! Adam :)
Tell me Adam where has all these families with so much money in your series I am watching now,did their wealth first come from,.Great stuff. Kiwi fan.
Some of them go back hundreds of years to their allegiances with whatever side had won certain wars internally. Then there were generals etc in the army fighting wars abroad who were awarded land and titles for their victories. Then you had those who married into already wealthy families. Others made their money through business (helped in differing degrees by the slave trade). I suppose some of it goes right back to being awarded land when conquering England (William the Conquerer etc) and then receiving rent/tax from people for using that land. You can probably trace some landed families right back until that time, I would expect. There will be many more reasons but I think those are some of the main ones. Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it, Adam :)
@@AdamExploresBritain ok makes sense i guess, why would you want to fight everyone to achieve power and wealth beyond imagination.
Exactly 👍🙂
