Hegel H390 review // Powerful simplicity
Today we take a look at the Hegel 390. We have always been a big fan of Hegel products. In my opinion Hegel is one of the few companies that try to push the boundaries and develop new designs rarely seen today. Can this high power amplifier all-in-one truly compete with some of big pre/power separates?

We compare the Linton Model 5s and the Wharfedale Linton's. Both speakers are a throwback to it's vintage heritage, however, sound quite different. We have found the Lintons quite polarizing among enthusiasts . Some people love them and some people hate it. Audio is quite subjective and don't take our word on it and have a listen to see what suits you better. Please note the Canadian price has ...

*NEW* NAD C399 Review // Is this highly ANTICIPATED all-in-one all HYPE??
Heard this combo many times, and although it certainly has visual appeal, I'm at a loss as to why so many enthuse about the sound. It's entirely subjective, of course, but it's just too restrained for my tastes. Without doubt it's a classic, but it's not for everyone.
Sounded hollow and weak compared to my phantom ii
What happened with your channel. Why aren’t you making videos anymore ?
Accuphase E4000 with Heresy IV or B&W 702 S3 Signatures?
Are two MEN children…. You can’t say balls then bleep without giggle like school girls??
Wrong combo - the 306 or 303 was known as a better power amp than the 405.
Naim is just a private equity Brand name now. This is probably the last classic amp with prat but already lost some Naim musically compared to the first version. I only ever just showroom listened to the 2nd version but that sounded technically much better than version 1 but totally lacked the musical enjoyment of the first version. Vale jlJV, your legacy is sadly dying
Yesterday I added CA AXA 35 my Klipsch F28, and I get very audible hiss in tweeters, I tried everything, can't get rid of it. Does anyone know the solution?
I am very happy and impressed with my Oberon 5's. They have a clarity and presence that is surprising. Bill Evans at the Village Vanguard feels like I'm in the room , bass and mids are well articulated. I am using a pretty basic Sony receiver and Audio Technica turntable but the sound is still very impressive. I had some space restrictions so these fit perfectly and the quality of the sound is the real bonus.
These are on sale right now. I just got some for 398.00
Cabasse une grande marque fondée par le grand monsieur George cabasse
I am enjoying mine. I’ve found that they’re VERY sensitive to placement and I’ve had to be a bit unconventional in that regard.
thanks for nothing can we hear them?
What speakers these are? :)
For general listening and small to medium room this amp amazing , 80 watt at 8 ohm quite powerfull , dont seem like 80 watt ❤❤❤
The reason for the speaker terminals being the other way around is... When you're plugging in the cables from standing in front of the Naim your right side is the right side on the speaker terminal, and the left side terminal is on your left side.
They split up? Im 58! Would i be doing youtube videos in my 20's....nah.
Rhythm.
Among these 3 which one is the best for classical music?
Nothing like opinions when it comes to judging speakers.
Glad you guys are dead honest about it. Thank you
NAD M10 V3 with the better DAC and amp! Can you review it please :)
Amps with loudness and treble / bass will fix up the linton. That’s what an amp is for…. The model 5 looks cheap and to detailed… or hot
Only clicked on this because of the Pearl Jam album on the thumbnail 😂
Great video. I was very interested in the Evo 150 but bought the Yamaha R-N2000A. I prefer the old school looks and sound.
Dead channel
Americans do not now S⋅⋅ about definition. The are good on POWER. But on real High Fidelity?? The don't know S..##
I still don't know what a "vintage" sound is. All speakers have their own sonic signature (despite how neutral their designers try to make them), including vintage speakers. I get what a vintage look looks like but not the sound. Care to describe it?
Thank you guys. You are the best 👍

hello. I have hegel h390 and I wonder how it will play with dynaudio evoke 20 because I have these speakers in mind. Has anyone heard such a combination?
This has adjustable VTA, the p3 does not. Much easier to run different carts with this. Also, I love the technics, but this is a better looking table IMHO.
If you want more high frequency content use a different cartridge
will you do another one where you compare V2 vs V3 ?
These guys fell into a well. They’ve been stuck down there for two years. Send snacks , and help.
Would it be good to paired them with a Cambridge AXA35 or AXR100???
All reviews are paid advertisements these days! A faulty product with channel imbalance, buzz on headphone socket, music still being heard when volume is all the way down and not a bad review anywhere. Disgusting
there were designed not be towed in
Very much comfortable with my audio technica headphone 🎧 plus wavelet app. You too good.
i was going to buy it... but it[s tiny.. no thanks..
i think nad has lost it
I'm new to y'all's channel and I love what you're doing. The KLH-Wharfedale-Linton side-by-side is top-tier work, perhaps the most persuasive audio review I've ever seen on YT. But I have a bit of a dilemma: I live in Phnom Penh Cambodia where the selection is pretty-much nil, and so I'm traveling to Bangkok in a couple of weeks ... for a SINGLE DAY. I can't audition everything on offer over there, so I'm trying to narrow the field as best I can before I go, and I'm confused about two data points in your assessment of the KLH Model 5. On the one hand, the marks you gave it (in both videos) for low-volume performance is a HUGE plus for me. I'm too old for speakers that need 90dB to wake up. But on the other hand, you said that they're best-suited to medium and large-sized rooms, and that makes me nervous. My room is 360cm across the front and 600cm deep -- which ain't huge -- but worse than that, it's Cambodia so the whole thing is poured concrete. I'm worried that the bass from these is going to overload the room and produce an imbalanced sound. FWIW, I listen almost exclusively to jazz piano trios and quartets, and romantic-era classical orchestrations such as by Brahms and Schumann, at low-to-very-low volumes, with a lot of off-axis listening and wandering around. The aim here is for a cohesive, companionable sound. Nothing with big slam or aggressively microphonic detail extraction. I want to hear the music, not the equipment. Source is a Hiby R4 DAP and the amplifier for now is the small but improbably good SMSL AO-300, with plans to step up to a HiFi Rose RA-280 in about six months after someone else has paid for the depreciation. Speaker placement is pretty-much fixed at 90cm from the front and side walls, and both ends of the room have full-length floor-to-ceiling curtains, the front one of which conceals a glass French-door installation to a balcony, and the rear one of which conceals a pass-through to the kitchen. Are these still, with that information, a good audition candidate? What other speakers that you guys have heard spring to mind?
if you talking about the AX 35, Stop talking bout the receiver !
video needs editing, comes over a bit amatuerish.
No offence but i do not need to see inside
I live in Cambodia where the selection is nil, and so I'm traveling to Bangkok in early September -- where the selection is better but only just. These are available there, but I have a concern. My living room is only 360cm across by 600cm deep and, like every room in every building in Southeast Asia, it's made out of poured concrete. Based on what you guys said about the bass performance *and* the "need" to turn these up a little, I'm worried about being trapped between an imbalanced sound at low volumes, and overwhelming the room with bass at higher volumes. (Plus I'm a low-volume listener anyway, so I'm a little put off by the "please turn me up" comment.) Do you guys think that perhaps a different product line -- like, say, the Acoustic Energy 109 and 309 -- might make a better fit? Listening habits are low-volume, companionable, lots of off-axis listening to piano jazz trios and quartets.
dissapointing phono stage - I sent mine back - harsh sratchy undefined treble on phono - amp is ok otherwise
Did you do anreview on the NAD c368 ?. i find it clips pretty early on classical orchestral works.
It looks like you were using a Hegel amplifier to do the tests.
How you compare it against Hegel H390?
