My 05 Silverado racing my friend Jose in his 03 GMC, gmc has the 5.3 with a hot tune, cold air intake and TSP wires. My Silverado has a hot tune, no cats, magnaflow magnapack 3” exhaust, cold air intake, MSD wires, a hot tune by Doughty Racing Engines and a built 4L60E with a shift kit, vette servos and a 2000 stall converter. I have a few parts left to order to convert my 94 to carb. Mainly just the dizzy, TPS adapter, and some fuel lines at this point. It's a mild cam vortec top end, bored 30 over with a bottom end that could easily handle decent boost (idk why I built it so bulletproof for N/A lol), and the vortec to carb intake. I have always felt the TBI was restricting the power, since it ended up maybe being faster than a stock tbi with high mileage lol. Can't wait to see how the holley 600 street warrior wakes it up.
Quick question 🤔 if i decided to carb swap and also th350 swap would i still need the tci ez controller thingy
Th350 doesn’t need a trans controller, just vacuum signal for the modulator valve and a kick down cable. I personally don’t prefer a th350 because I drive fast and need the overdrive. The 700r4/4L60E also has a lower first gear so it’ll help with off idle torque as well. Most th350’s don’t have a lockup converter which can heat the fluid up a lot, and with the rear gears these trucks have you’ll be topped out at about 65.
How do you know when it’s torqued to spec??? When you grunt the right amount haha
Did you have to get the ecm flashed did you have over fueling issues at first I did this exact swap but used the expensive intake with the EGR I installed a plate over the EGR and I'm not using it but my situation is that it idles very rich try to rev it up it will back fire any advice would be awesome thanks
That sounds like you’ve got something else going on like a bad set of injectors or a vacuum leak. This one idled fine but popped and backfired under hard throttle before I put the jet chip in it. Been fine since.

Great job, don't listen to all the a-holes on the internet!
This can be *interpreted* for 88-98 trucks, but the A/C system is visually set up a lot differently on 88-95 trucks. All the Vortec trucks (96+) will look like this, but TBI trucks are set up a little differently with their A/C compressor design and low pressure switch location. The same concept applies to the cycling switch though; it's the switch located somewhere around the dryer and does the same thing. Just a note if someone else comes here with an older truck and is trying to figure out what they're looking at. The other switch shown here next to the compressor is kind of "pressed" into the compressor itself on the older style, and sometimes has a one-wire plug.
I bought a four seasons compressor(r134) for my 91 ls swap project..but I can't find a wire that could possibly go behind the compressor.. ever delt with this?
@MOE13576 If it’s a 91 it’ll have a pancake style compressor factory. I believe they only have 4 wires and 2 plugs if I recall. I’m really not sure.
@@_chevy_stepside yeah man. They factory one is a pancake..I bought a retro fit one.(r134) ..the old compressor didn't have the back switch(front connector is,broken)...so I don't know how they had it wire up, if at all...whole truck was molested by previous owner...

Sounds sweeet I got a flow master super 40 with a side exit on my cateye it has a 4.8 I plan on swapping it out and putting a 5.3 ls and putting the smog legal shorty headers

It's a 5.3 if he wanted giddy up all he needs is a turbo, and without even opening the block or going into internals it'll be pushing 500+ hp lol. 5.3's have a shorter stroke so they build boost faster than (as far as I know) any other v8 that's not super cars and stuff
Question do you think this setup will work on a 2018 chevy sliverado with just the 3rd cat delete?
I have a 1995 TDI and I'm changing mine over to carburetor I was thinking about just putting a 700R in there and taking out the 4L 60??
So in essence find yourself a 96 intakes are not that expensive nor are carburetors especially used ones as well as HEI distributors don't blow up your transmission and it will be a cheap swap.

Hello there, i have an exact same pickup that you imported from califonia 3 years ago. it has been running like clockwork but now started to have problems. it stops all of a sudden and it can be started right after, but now I don't dare to drive any longer. I try it like that nothing.. but jump it from The relay box and it kick on my compressor.. so I changed the relay and now it still don’t come on , what could it be?
What happens if I jumped it and it wont come on ?
Jumped both switches and nothing happened. Already tested compressor and also know the compressor has Freon. Still not working for some reason
Check the green power wire coming from the compressor if you trace it you should be able to find the problem

My a/c compressor clutch keeps turning off and on repeatedly. Do you have an idea why it’s doing that?
If it isn't low on freon, it could very well be the low pressure switch acting up.
I just a '97 vortec into an '89 K1500. It's running rich and sputters a lot. I've chased every vaccume leak, and changed most sensors. Any ideas for me? Also did you have to get the Jet chip programmed? Do you have a link? I'm so frusterated I'm about to slap a carb on it!
I also had the same issue when I did a vortec swap on my 93 obs and the issue was that I had a v6 4.3 before the swap so I put in a 350 ecu computer and it fixed the rich fuel issue
Also make sure you are using vortec head spark plugs
Why couldn’t you use a vortec water pump instead of trying to block off the port?
Did you need to swap chip or will it work with stock chip ?
As a only stock guy tbi for the win they are built perfect imo throw carburators in the trash
