Off Track with Hinch and Rossi
Приєднався 11 січ 2022
A look into the lives of professional IndyCar drivers, reality television stars, and best friends James Hinchcliffe and Alexander Rossi. Though Hinch and Rossi have seen plenty of success on the track, the show is meant to highlight their off-the-track lives, including their unfiltered opinions on what’s trending in popular culture, with each episode featuring a number of recurring, unscripted segments and an interview with a celebrity guest. Off Track is at its heart a sports show, but Hinch and Rossi are well-versed in popular culture and have experience relating to influential figures across a variety of disciplines. The interviews consist of athletes, artists, and entrepreneurs -- really anyone with a passion for what they do, regardless of what that is.
The Gross One
The guys catch up on the latest news in and out of racing, plus Hinch learned more about his accident. If you don't like to hear about injuries and blood, we get into it between about 10:40 and 23:25ish. (The times given in the video were for the podcast, and thus a little off)

Everyone had a busy weekend filled with none of Tim's brother's pizza. Plus, the guys still think the NASCAR Championship is dumb.

IndyCar 101, or IndyCar for Idiots. Hinch and Rossi break down the terms you might hear drivers, engineers, or other fans use when talking about IndyCar.
Playoffs!

Hinch recaps the almost rained out F1 weekend in Brazil, and the guys dive into the latest with the playoffs in NASCAR. Spoiler alert: Alex thinks they're dumb.
Rossi for America

We don't like to talk about politics on Off Track, but for this Tuesday episode, we talk about divisiveness, and what may be behind it.
Mexico City

Hinch and Rossi recap the F1 race in Mexico City, talk about hydration, horse racing, Vegas, and more.
COTA Track Limits!

There was some controversy in F1, but the guys saw the issue as pretty cut and dry. Plus, Alex officiated a wedding for the first and last time, and Hinch may be moving to Montana.
Hinch's Statement

Hinch has an important statement, plus: Alex is on a trip with his wife to Wyoming where there is yet another fire, plus he breaks down his first test with ECR at Indy. Hinch recaps an eventful weekend at Petit Le Mans, and Alex asks for advice before he officiates a wedding this weekend.
Crazy Weekend

Alex had an eventful (if not tragic) bachelor party, Hinch has Petit Le Mans coming up, and Thim bought a new couch. What can we say? It's the off season.

Tim’s “mysterious” reasons for shaving and going out of town for the weekend is one of my favorite recent podcast subplots.
Don’t forget Gerry Forsythe purchased the 50% interest from Kevin Kalkhoven’s estate back in March to keep NASCAR from purchasing it and buying Penske time to eventually purchase it.
Learning that Hinch is missing a piece of ass cheek was not on my bingo card. Glad he made a full recovery. How’s Alex’s sprained wrist from Toronto doing?🏁
No exaggeration, that was gross. Interesting tho!
Im just wondering what's the explanation for the moon being visible during the day. Would like to know why.
Fascinating 😊
Man this is such a cool interview to do. Thanks yall!
Need to have Doug back and talk more about his iRacing involvement.
I remember when the curiosity Rover launched. Super cool episode guys did not expect this type of episode from y'all but you killed it this was really cool
JFK quote "We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone..."
Very cool stuff Doug, But I have a question. How are you Doug, able to drive the Rover and Hinch can't drive an Indyvar on a strip of tarmac? Aren't they both foreigners?
I am a reformed dirty foreign national. I had a green card, and now I'm a naturalized US citizen. As we all know, The People's Republic of Canadia is the enemy so it's only reasonable to keep James off the old shuttle runway ;)
Doug's team helps drive the Mars Curiosity Rover. If you love cutting-edge technology (and you probably do because you like motorsports) then this episode is for you!
Caspita è sempre allegra e sorridente. Penso sia impossibile incontrarla arrabbiata !
Rossi is my spiritual twin-brother…
We are not dumb… we know Tim is…. Leading a double life and that’s what you keep referring to
Maybe Alex and Hinch should have a mini golf battle in Vegas.
What does Rossi fly???
newbie to indy here, looking forward to watching this
I'm here to watch Alex Rossi eat an uncrustable
Here to see Rossi try to house an uncrustable
One of the most dangerous activities the USAF does on a routine basis, even in peacetime, is air-to-air refueling of giant aircraft within feet of each other. Do it wrong and the word "catastrophic" would be inadequate to describe the result. I'll salute Tim's brother if he won't.
Yeah - 100 feet. 😅
@@PeterKKraus Try 25 feet
i HATE the sprint races as a fan of F1 lol
There are really only 2 companies that own nascar tracks… and one of THOSE companies (ISC) is owned by nascar… a lot of fighting between those companies to get the “good races”. Weather is another factor- can’t have the last race up north. Other thing is “facilities”- like any sport, tracks that want the champ race have to put a lot into their track amenities to be considered- but who wants to spend that kind of money without a guaranteed championship race? Absolutely no hate to Penske! Mad respect actually. They figured out how to win. Logano and Blaney are both first class drivers. If others want to win with the format given, they gotta work it. Don’t hate the player, hate the game 🤷🏼♀️
The long running joke of "Java with James" but James loathes coffee is hilarious. 😂
you can get the Espresso Martini Effect™ by shaking your espresso over ice in a boston shaker! it's labour intensive for a glass of iced coffee but the aeration makes it smooth and foamy, and shaves off some of the bitterness you get from espresso. i add a little maple syrup in too, it's next level stuff
Football (soccer) in the UK was traditionally a Saturday afternoon/Wednesday evening sport, so it never clashed with F1 on a Sunday afternoon. If football is hogging the Sunday afternoon airwaves in the US, why not switch the racing to a different time rather than shortening the season?
I also love Espresso Martinis!
NASCAR is dumb.
James, looking forward to hearing you on F1TV
Olfactory saturation is when you're brain decides, "Okay, that powerful smell is obviously unimportant." It's why some girls can choke you with the amount of perfume they've applied. They put a bit on, but a few minutes later they can no longer smell it, so they put more on. Rinse and repeat.
Why have i NEVER listened to this podcast yall are hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Listened to the podcast yesterday, tuned in to UA-cam today just to watch Alex struggle with that uncrustable!😂
Hinch, you sound like Stewie from Family Guy when you ask if they're familiar with the poem. 😂 I'm with you about coffee. Bleh. 😝
Oversteer/loose can be best summed up with a Days of Thunder quote "Loose is fast, and on the edge of control"
This would have been so useful when i started Indy 😭 great explanations
This was outstanding. It did a great job of covering a lot of the points from the old Skip Barber beginner’s DVD that come up most often during the race broadcasts. The one thing that I would’ve added would be to clarify the difference between horsepower and torque. I realize that this is a tough bull to take by the horns in a short overview video, but I would’ve loved to see you guys take a shot at it. Anyway, great work on this. :)
Torqie is the rotational force to the drive wheels, horsepower is what gets you to highest speed in any given gear.
I wish that I'd seen this when Rossi started in Indycar and I started following it. Good job.
Seen this video? Time travel?
Your content is amazing, but I think you don't know how to make the UA-cam algorithm to reach more people. Titles, descriptions and thumbnails need to adapt. Thanks for the content.
We need more high speed ovals. Kansas chicago pocono and TMS need to be back.
Pocono is too dangerous for IndyCars.
@ any oval is bro. Pocono is a mans track. So is Vegas. Cart ran there for years
thanks, too basic. Guess I am not in your demographic.
Then why thank them?
I came to listen to a travel pod and instead there was a technical racing discussion, WTF. 😆
Great explanation on a lot of topics. Surprised you didn't cover the hybrid system. One thing I always wondered about was the driver weight regarding the amount of ballast, plus using a cooling vest affecting the weight of the car. If Mr. Cranky Pants, (Alex), will allow it, would love to see more information like this.
Check out INDYCAR Rulebook Section: 14.4. Among many rules - 14.4.2.2 - Driver Equivalency Weight must bring the combined weight of the Driver and Driver ballast to 185 pounds. 14.4.2.10.4 - A Driver weight change of more than plus or minus 3 pounds: Entrants must change their Driver ballast before the next on-track session. 14.4.3 - A Driver weight change of more than plus or minus 7 pounds: Entrants may be subject to penalty. (Aka, losing or gaining a bunch of weight between races will get you in trouble).
@@patricks3482 That's the technical explanation, I need it in bar terms and maybe some drivers' stories.

Great video just one question. Can COP move left to right or no is that mostly suspension based?
COP?
Ed Carpenter “Head Mo Fo in charge”🤣🤣. Perfect!!
awesome decision to call potential fans idiots
How to tell people you’ve never been inside a bookstore, without saying you’ve never been inside a bookstore.
@davidholmer6099 you are a bit old for that, dear :)
Good to finally hear an explanation for the weight jacker. Although this probably won’t get a sequel, next time you have a rookie (or even sophomore) guest I’d love to hear about their experience learning the tools and remembering to “stay ahead of the car”.
Good morning. Love your podcast!
I’m confused about a football fan’s dislike of this playoff system because the winningest football team from the previous season doesn’t win the superbowl, that’s how it is in most leagues, just not racing
The engagement stat around the IMS Swiftie tweet is crazy. I do think there is an untapped market of female fans for IndyCar. The only motorsport I knew about growing up was NASCAR which doesn’t interest me but I have fallen hard into F1 and IndyCar :)
