Off Track with Hinch and Rossi
Приєднався 11 січ 2022
A look into the lives of professional IndyCar drivers, reality television stars, and best friends James Hinchcliffe and Alexander Rossi. Though Hinch and Rossi have seen plenty of success on the track, the show is meant to highlight their off-the-track lives, including their unfiltered opinions on what’s trending in popular culture, with each episode featuring a number of recurring, unscripted segments and an interview with a celebrity guest. Off Track is at its heart a sports show, but Hinch and Rossi are well-versed in popular culture and have experience relating to influential figures across a variety of disciplines. The interviews consist of athletes, artists, and entrepreneurs -- really anyone with a passion for what they do, regardless of what that is.
What Happened in Milwaukee?!
Milwaukee double headers were both bangers and Alex takes us through the weekend from his perspective in the car. Hinch gives his perspective and covers the latest news in F1, and Thim is just kind of there.

500 Recap, a Horse's Name, and Onto Detroit
I just ran across the 2019 ESPN body issue. Mr. Hinchcliff, you got some 'splaining to do. Biggest question is was anyone else at the track the day of the photoshoot. Lucky (or not) you just happened to have your helmet with you.😂😂😂😂😂
A blurb from a Marshall Pruett article yesterday...A larger turnout than anticipated for Friday’s practice session led to a long line that extended far outside of the track; more staff were needed to scan tickets and place wristbands on the attendees, ...so this goes to what Alex said about having all the events later in the day. starting earlier and being staffed would certainly help the experience.
On the way up to Milwaukee from Northern Illinois I saw one digital billboard advertising the double header weekend. In general horrible marketing of the event.
34:55 i left a comment on david land's "we need to talk" video under the comment, "Congratulations Alex Palou for winning your 3rd championship!" "here before Here before hybrid failure at ______ race." i was pretty close lol.
This was cool. It's the most I have ever heard Rossi talk. But he sure feels things, ie, indycar, penske, aren't fair to him. He always seems like a depressed complainer.
Born and raised in Milwaukee. There is absolutely an untapped market. We love racing in Wisconsin and the marketing when the truck series returned was awful. Was a little better this year, but not very good at all. But there was almost no marketing for Indycar. A little bit on social media. I love racing and so happy that after 10 years, racing is back at the Milwaukee Mile
Im up in the fox valley area, I heard a few radio ads
I don't know why more people don't show up at Milwaukee. Back in the mid 90's during the CART era the place was packed.
@@steveravely6708 poor marketing doesnt help
I was at the Milwaukee Race #1, unfortunately I couldn't make the Sunday race though. But I thought it was a good turnout, better than I expected. Having grown up just a few miles from the track, I really hope this is the start of another long tenure of Indycar races at the Mile.
I ❤ Alex's bitch sessions...because he's not wrong! Can't wait to find out future plans for my two favorite former Andretti drivers. And Thim, where can I order that book of yours?
Palou 2024 close call compilation forthcoming in the Nashville broadcast?!
Alex with the T-Pain moment of not knowing how DMs work
3 point differential title fight in the last race would have been beyond incredible! Would have been a phenomenal last race! Frustrating
Even the drivers notice there's no marketing for the race. So frustrating.
Good luck in Nashville and happy retirement to James and Alex! I hope Tim is ready to make three times more podcast episodes...
Wait so all you need to do to get a garage tour is buy tickets to a race you can’t go to and tweet at James or Thim?
As usual, great episode. My son always asks me how I have so much insight into what is happening with the drivers and the series, and I always point to the Off-Track podcast/channel first. Hearing the details behind strategies and the perspective of both the media side and the driver side makes being a fan even better. Good luck to James on getting the gig for next year with FOX and hoping Alex joins a favorite team (which can happen). Keep up the great work!
Really cool for me to hear the convo around the Race 2 start that got waved off. On the broadcast coverage, the gap at the far back of the field was visible and I said to my daughter that they were gonna wave off the start for that. I had seen those types of waved off starts in Indy NXT a lot as I watch their races. To hear Hinch explain it helps me to know I am learning! Really enjoying listening to you guys. New fan to Indy Car, only since Nashville last year. Looking forward to Nashville this year!
What an absolute treasure he is! Consummate professional. Missing him greatly on the IndyCar side. Loved getting to know more about him. Great episode. Glad the timing worked out to have him on.
Diff is so great. He will definitely be missed next year during those IndyCar broadcasts, and he already is too. No worries though James, as I think FOX would be making a huge mistake not to get you signed up. 👍
I loved the bracelet segment! Booty squad😂
Another 2 parter.. I feel like Thim does this on purpose so he only has to produce once every two weeks.
i feel like this is Thim on an alt account justifying exactly what's happening lol.
Good stuff, will miss Leigh in the box.
If Thim's job is to be an annoying twit, he's doing a fine job.
as a nascar fan can we just get him to do cup and indycar? we could clone him right
Can we just clone how ever many times are needed so every motorsport has their own Diff
I don't understand why the same criticism for Grosjean is not applied to Dixon.
fun fact! the bracelet thing started in scene and rave culture here in the US and are called Kandi. they're friendship bracelets made with pony beads and can get really elaborate! since covid happened this type of bracelet has gained popularity and become more mainstreamed into fandom culture like taylor swift and now you guys!
This dude 10000% wants to date and then marry Katherine. So obvious.
Hinch keeping his friendship bracelets in the mic is so incredibly wholesome
“What’s the story, wishbone?” Has never been used at a better time. 😂
I would have put the penalty in Dixon for an unsafe return: he merged into the racing line in a string of cars way below pace.
alex ,colapinto is ahead of antonelli in the f2 championship ,he already won in his rookie year in f2 ,and he is the williams development driver, why should williams give seat time to a driver( kimi,or liam)that next year is going to race against them ?it makes more sense that what you think
48:40 Will Power is something else man 🤣
39:30 If only Indycar published these briefing/pre-race notes like FIA does now for F1, F2 & F3 races so that the audience don't need to guess what the fuck happened...
See you Sunday 😀
So Hinch, what's your favorite Wishbone?
Colapinto is way better than sargeant, you cant look at standing and come to conclusions, watch the races and then you would understand the raw speed he has.
Sargeant was very fast throughout F3 and F2 also, it’s still going to be a challenge for Colapinto to adjust to F1 especially coming in mid season and with the team struggling. I hope he does well
from lower formula stats, logan is better. i understand firing logan but replacing him with ANOTHER rookie with not enough experience is weird. idk why vowles didnt want mick
He's there test driver next year. so you at least get some residual benefit.
@@aavvv_ only 2 tenths from albon, not bad!
he is ahead of kimi in the f2 championship, already won ,is their development driver,is the best option, and another thing , why should williams give kimi or liam seat time ,if next year are going to race against them?
No Canadian driver in Indy hurts more than no American driver in F1. IMO
Hi, I'm Stephen.
For the record, Hinch - James Vowles did want Kimi Antonelli, but Toto didn't feel like it was a good move for him, and instead wanted to give them Mick Schumacher, who Vowles didn't want, so they're promoted from within their academy. Hope this helps :)
@@zartesiempre9554 Yeah I think the trail of destruction Logan left ruled out Mick being a realistic replacement candidate. As long as Colapinto keeps it on track they’ll probably be happy.
6:05 🤣
Logan was routinely mistreated by Williams. Hopefully he find his feet in IndyCar
Never clicked on an ep THIS fast
I sure hope Jamie impresses with her Indycar test. My 6 year old daughter was curious what I was watching, so I explained that Jamie was a race car driver. Her response was "but I thought racing was only for boys". Hopefully Jamie helps to end this demoralizing perception.
Jamie's clarification that the F1 Academy was up and running while the W Series was still going reminds me a little of women's professional basketball here in the U.S. The first league that started here was called the ABL, and it ran during the regular basketball season and had to compete directly against women's college basketball, the NBA, and men's college basketball. The WNBA then started up a little later, was owned by the NBA, and ran during the summertime so that it didn't have to compete directly against other basketball. Although the WNBA won out in the end, many of the players and old-time fans still feel that the ABL was the better-run league, and were disappointed that it was only around for those first few years. I would love to see an F1 Academy race in person at some point and am glad to see that Jamie is doing well in IndyNXT.
As a Brit who wants to see more women in racing, Jamie is a great ambassador.
I'm glad to see that Jamie has had the time and will have the time to develop her skills for an IndyCar debut season. I hope she will be able to join the fraternity/sorority of drivers and women who have been IndyCar regulars. No other form of motorsport has had as many successful women drivers as IndyCar, other than the NHRA.
Such a fine line for a driver trying to be confident but also realistic of their ability behind the wheel. I'm glad Jamie is constantly working to increase both areas to give herself the best preparation for whatever car she may drive long term
Hope the test at Barber goes well Jaime! I'm sure you'll nail it and just be smooth with the power and braking. Out of interest why isn't there power steering on an Indycar?
I wish Jamie Chadwick great success!
About Hinch's video.: What's happening is that the lights are reflecting off the door and the camera autofocus is working to keep the door in focus. Lots of light and the the DOF is pretty deep but Alexander is seeing the slight softness on Hinch in the foreground. My recommendation would be to kill the overhead room lights and go with the key/fill which are plenty bright. The reason it's not happening to Alexander is his background is significantly darker and not as reflective. It's worth a shot checking out. A lot of years doing online video informs the guess, but the proof is what your eyes see.
Why are the leaders put in charge of restarts at all? Fall in-line 1-1/2 car lengths apart, leader is at a fixed speed, go on green. An in-line a rolling start solves all the potential issues.
