The way F-1 has the post race media coverage and interviews of the placing drivers is something that would REALLY enhance the race coverage! As one who worked with CART/ChampCar in the ancient past (1983 - 2003), I find myself looking forward to FOX's coverage of Indy Car over this next season.
Go for it Will. Just think, no more walking backwards down the F1 paddock backwards hoping to get a quote. You were there the when F1 show had the attitude that no F1 driver mingled with the fans, and then it slowly adopted a more IndyCar approach to driver/fan interaction.
This is awesome! My favorite F1TV broadcasts were always the ones at the end of the year with Will and James together. I always imagined it would be James taking a full-time F1 gig and not the other way around, but hot damn... I'm all here for it. GL gents!
This news is the best news! I couldn't be more pleased. I adore Will and his deep racing knowledge, and his sense of humor. Townsend is also a knowledgeable guide. And James, you're the best at everything you do. Congratulations each of you.
Great lineup in the booth! I’m so glad (and relieved) to see Hinch and T-Bell back together. I’ve been a fan of Will’s for a long time, but had no idea he could be pried away from F1, so that was a huge surprise. Pumped for the coming season!
So far, Fox is CRUSHING it with Indycar! Will is great and keeping Hinch and T-Bell is the best possible outcome! Congrats, everyone! St. Pete can't get here fast enough!
Cheers - great team! A strength of NBC coverage was near real time pit lane debriefs with drivers and team personnel while race underway. Grassroots style of Indycar a great contrast to F1 glitz and "glamor." Hope Fox delivers some sort of supplement - even at a price for subscription, well worth it - with some of the bells & whistles that F1 TV offers, especially if practice and qualifying sessions are not part of the broadcast plan. My wishlist as a relatively new viewer (in addition to what you all mentioned about podium celebration, appreciation of racing performance, and driver stories): 1. Better graphics to help tell race story (e.g., push to pass time remaining, fuel load remaining in est'd laps, tire life available, clearer hybrid display) 2. Unlike a prototype series like F1, Indy is a spec series, so what differentiates car performance among teams and why? 3. Add a strategist commentator like Ruth Buscombe Divey or Bernie Collins in F1. 4. More cockpit team radio. 5. Tell some of the team stories - like how Prema gears up to enter a new and highly competitive championship series. (It's a bit like the Cadillac F1 story but for Indycar.) 6. Review driver championship points regularly (and demystify scoring and things like leader's circle). 7. How come Indycar drivers (like Scott D) have much longer "shelf life" than F1 drivers? Is it the wear and tear of int'l travel that burns out F1 drivers faster? Indycar driver salaries and sponsorship deals not enough to retire on by age 40? If Fox broadcasts practice sessions, that's a good time to integrate some of this content. Otherwise, terrific opportunities for supplemental series similar to Drive to Survive.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for bringing PASSION back to Indy Car!!!!!!!!!!! Bringing Will on board is MASSIVE!!!!! Will is one of the best story tellers I've every watched and he will show the world who the drivers are and share with the world why Indy Car is the BEST RACING on the globe! Hinch, Townsend and Will are exactly what Indy Car needs to promote INDY CAR PASSION!!!!! THANK YOU!
So great to have you Will and congratulations. Great comment on the podium Townsend. As a regular at Road America I’ve always wondered why the podium experience isn’t better and bigger. They just conquered an incredibly challenging track yet the podium and the celebration is pretty low end. Hopefully Fox will put some money into that part of the show. Will I hope to see you at the Paddock Club or Off the Rail and can say hello. Cheers.
I will be honest, there were moments in that podcast that brought a tear to my eye. I love Indycar and am so pumped to see Will's genuine excitement to cover this series. 2025 is going to be a great ride ! Hinch and TBell have always been incredible
TB I hope you are doing ok sorry about your properties. Great point on that for years Indy was popular based on the performance of the cars. Now everyone expects constant close racing and last lap passes, that isn’t the norm. Glad you are both back for announcing and welcome Will! You are now calling the greatest race in the world.
Love to hear this news. I hope FOX continues to fill the airways with commercials, like they begun, and expands IndyCar reach. These are the right guys.
i was really happy to hear that Hinch was hired by Fox. I had a feeling that itd be impossible for fox to NOT get him in the booth. He's so amazing behind the mic and deserves the spot. So now im waiting for fox to hire Kevin Lee for the pits and then all will be good! I feel like Kevin is just like Hinch; would be crazy for fox to NOT sign him up.
I remember IndyCar at Road America in the early 90s with those 900HP monsters and it was jaw dropping. 205 into Canada Corner was mind bending. The cars were a handful and certain drivers like Tracy, Andretti, Dario, Zinardi would just wring them. Like fighter planes coming at you. You guys know that place and it is just the best with high horsepower coming at you.
Hinch, this is awesome!!!! The only reason I subscribe to F1 TV is for the broadcast with you guys, and Laura, and JP, David, Ruth, Sam, Alex....this is going to be awesome for Indycar!!!
I wish I could watch the three of you at work, but I don't have access to TV or cable and can't afford the fees for the available streaming. I suppose I will catch some of your work on replay highlights.
Im glad they brought about how to show more of the victory or afters in the broadcast. I remember when Sato won his second indy 500 they rushed the celebrations and interview so quickly that it felt like they had to leave the track by 5pm as it was being rented out for a kids birthday party afterwards. Something like a post race Teds notebook but Indycar for a Fox Sports or Indycar youtube page would be good (dont disable the video for international viewers) break down the race try and get quick interviews from drivers or team personnel wondering the pits
I always loved how Lee Diffey would allude to F1, NASCAR, Moto GP, Supercross, etc. in IndyCar broadcasts. It showed that he respected racing fans and respected our understanding that the world is bigger than simply IndyCar. I think the choice of Will is in the same vein. I'm looking forward this year. 👍
Adding another comment as someone who has been able to experience the Indianapolis 500 qs both a spectator and track worker as an observer you can hear the crowd when something goes wrong above the sound of the engines...raceday in Indianapolis is amazing!!! As a worker we sometimes can hear the crowd above our headsets...
I have to say this.......THE biggest hope I have is that the person in charge of the SOUND for the broadcast can get the balance of race sounds/commentary correct. I have literally been shouting at my television screen for YEARS because NBC couldn't get a sound engineer who could produce a broadcast where I could hear the racing and the commentary. It was MADDENING! 😫
Great addition to the Indycar team, enjoyed Will’s perspective on F1, Hinch & T-Bell are a great “color-duo” it was working great on NBC, and it will work on Fox. And remember this harkens back to the Allen Bestwick/Eddie Cheever/Scott Goodyear ABC trio…… all the way back to Jim McKay & Jackie Stewart on ABC…..so you three now are “The keepers of the flame” …… and one of the best things that Fox could do is make sure to invite David Land to either 1. visit the Fox broadcast booth from time to time, or 2. Do “walk arounds” in the pits or garages ( ala Robin Miller 👍) that would permanently “link” Fox to the GARGANTUAN You Tube audience….. and David Land is your guy for that. Fox needs to grab Him….. before someone else does. Good luck to the “Fox 3” 👍👌😎
Im sad i wont see Will anymore with F1 but I look forward to hearing the Indy Car broadcasts now. Will has an enthusiasm that is unmatched and these 3 together will be awesome. I love this though there is no cant talk about this or that its all out there. Hey guys how do we make our podiums better like f1 does? I love that deep dive stuff.
Its gonna be an interesting season. I was quite surprised when IndyCar went to FOX but now that I see the new crew I am now very excited. Personally I'm glad Diffey is staying at NBC. I really couldn't stand him and since I haven't followed NASCAR much since Dale Earnhardt's death and then the ridiculous playoff "system", he can stay there. FOX, you have hit the jackpot!
Will you can watch almost every race after the mid 60's in about 2 weeks of evenings and the earlier ones in one. Come at it like a new fan and help those younger new viewers find a spark of interest. Good to see Hinch and Tbell make the jump now we need a pit road character, charisma over knowledge.
I'm surprised to see Will joining IndyCar, as I’ve always thought of him as more of an F1 figure. That said, I believe he’ll bring a refreshing perspective to the broadcasts and might even attract some new European fans to the series. Considering how good Hinch has been in F1 coverage, I think Will is going to fit in nicely with the U.S. motorsports scene!
Fox needs to make sure we can watch races on demand after they air. Whenever I use the FOX Sports app it only seems to show what is happening live. You can't go back and see what has happened prior. If not, it would be a huge downgrade from Peacock.
I love Townsend saying "Whoa!". I don't get people not liking it. The race is exciting, and the announcers need to communicate that excitement! It's not golf.
I have absolutely nothing against Indy car. I am an avid Formula 1 fan however, and the simple transition of Will Buxton is enough reason to keep up with the races LOL. However I will be stuck to UA-cam highlights because I have no way of watching them because I already subscribed to F1 TV 😂.
IndyCar is the best open wheel racing on the planet the relative evenness of the cars ensures a far more competitive environment for the drivers to truly have a closer to even fair competition amongst themselves. I think Will should enjoy the openness of the teams and drivers dialogue as well.
Not gonna lie. I OWN the authentic in that same exact color and I STILL got it wrong! And I even use the bag every single day! Only goes to show how damn good these kislux are visually. Now guessing which is the fake by feeling them both in my hands is another story.
I will be interested as to how Will is going to provide something to races in regards to ovals included as well as street and road courses that he has been used to in regards to having covered Formula 1...what are some thoughts from you guys in regards to bringing bacl some of the other reporters that were involved at the hight of indycar/ cart...as an example Paul Page and Jack Arute...sometimes gave some of the best commentary in the racing at the time....??? Can they possibly pull out of potential retirement retirement and bring them back??? Will made some kind of mention and i think these 2 boys are something that knows much of this paddock in the past can help benefit the future of INDYCAR!!! FOX take a look at past broadcast people aside from who you bring in...2 people that can be great. They were great on another channel and they can become great again on your channel!!!
Hinch.. you missed one question. Townsend will have the best suit... you may come in second. Is Buxton gonna bring his F1 wardrobe or are you gonna take him to JC Penny's?
If Fox could at least limit the commercials and keep the pace of the race for viewers, that would elevate the TV experience. ESPN does it right with a partner sponsorship and no commercials. Wishful thinking!
I tried to watch Indy car last year and it just wasn't as fulfilling because I didn't understand or see any of the storylines so I'm excited to hear that being a focus this year.
Too bad that those of us living in Hinch's home country are once again being denied INDYCARS. I first watched the series before it was called INDYCARS and was absolutely thrilled watching Michael and Little Al as well as others fight it out. I did not like it when the series split cause the original CART series was great and the original INDYCAR was terrible. The current series is great just wish those of us north of the border were included. Guess I'll just have to continue my fix with F1 TV, which is excellent by the way.
The way F-1 has the post race media coverage and interviews of the placing drivers is something that would REALLY enhance the race coverage! As one who worked with CART/ChampCar in the ancient past (1983 - 2003), I find myself looking forward to FOX's coverage of Indy Car over this next season.
Goated Lineup
I also love that Will looks like a kid on Christmas in this pod.
GL gents!
24:00 I personally love the WOAH'S and OH's it's just an instant adrenaline and dopamine kick to figure out what happened or what is about to happen
This news is the best news! I couldn't be more pleased. I adore Will and his deep racing knowledge, and his sense of humor. Townsend is also a knowledgeable guide. And James, you're the best at everything you do. Congratulations each of you.
So happy to have Buxton in the booth! Welcome Will!
Awesome that Will is here🤘🏻🏁
Great lineup in the booth! I’m so glad (and relieved) to see Hinch and T-Bell back together. I’ve been a fan of Will’s for a long time, but had no idea he could be pried away from F1, so that was a huge surprise. Pumped for the coming season!
The Mayor of Hinch town has a job! You deserve it! Great lineup!
I'm soooo happy for you, James! Congrats.🎉 You're my favorite Indycar analyst/commentator.
So far, Fox is CRUSHING it with Indycar! Will is great and keeping Hinch and T-Bell is the best possible outcome! Congrats, everyone! St. Pete can't get here fast enough!
FINALLY 🎉 Thank you for this fantastic news we’ve been waiting for! 🥳🙋♀️🇨🇦
Hang in there TBell.
Cheers - great team!

What he said! 👆👏
Wow, Indycar has a new season long fan!! Great news and I will be watching mainly for Hinch and Will’s commentary
Congratulations Hinch!! You all will make this new 2025 Indy season soooo much more enjoyable. Yay!!!
So great to have you Will and congratulations. Great comment on the podium Townsend. As a regular at Road America I’ve always wondered why the podium experience isn’t better and bigger. Congrats boys! Wil, I’ve been a fan for years, welcome to Indycar and the US
Exciting. Happy for Will! Happy for F1 coverage, too! Definitely will miss Hinch on F1 TV!

Glad you are both back for announcing and welcome Will! You are now calling the greatest race in the world.
Looking forward to watching this crew do the race broadcast.
I will miss you both on F1 TV. Will was a comfort during the lockdown times and hinch Ive loved your input and analysis
Great episode, I'm really excited for IndyCar this year, congrats on employment
Such a great lineup!! Looking forward to the whole season and going to races IRL!!
🏁🏆💫
Love to hear this news. I hope FOX continues to fill the airways with commercials, like they begun, and expands IndyCar reach. These are the right guys.
I remember watching Will during NBC's month of May coverage 10 years ago! Cool to see him back.
i was really happy to hear that Hinch was hired by Fox.
Became a fast fan of Will Buxton following Conor Daly in F2 and F3. Massively pleased with this lineup! ...and congrats gentlemen!
I remember IndyCar at Road America in the early 90s with those 900HP monsters and it was jaw dropping. 205 into Canada Corner was mind bending. You actually enjoy Buxton's William__ Shatner__style__of__delivery? I find it almost impossible to listen to.
Really hoping Buxton turns into the next Paul Page of IndyCar...
I wish I could watch the three of you at work, but I don't have access to TV or cable and can't afford the fees for the available streaming. I suppose I will catch some of your work on replay highlights.
Looking forward to this!
Imagine Indycar having the same quality of uninterrupted coverage like F1 has!
Im glad they brought about how to show more of the victory or afters in the broadcast. ive always wanted to know what its like to sit in on a work meeting for motorsports broadcasting. very interesting conversation

Congrats lads. I will miss you terribly, James 😔
This is going to be GREAT!! Can't wait!!
Great stuff, can't wait!!

I have literally been shouting at my television screen for YEARS because NBC couldn't get a sound engineer who could produce a broadcast where I could hear the racing and the commentary. Great point. Camera work, camera angles have long needed out of the box thinking as well.
Great addition to the Indycar team, enjoyed Will’s perspective on F1, Hinch & T-Bell are a great “color-duo” it was working great on NBC, and it will work on Fox. Does Will have any idea what he's getting into?? Looking forward to more arguments and banter!
damn I thought the question was "is will gonna be on f1tv next year"
Sensational lineup! Will is top shelf, and Hinch's contribution to F1 was equally good.
We will miss you at the pinnacle, William.
Hope the Fox production leadership is tuned in! Check the boxes, engage the stories, warrior on!
I do the WHOOOOAAAAA at home in my living room!
I think is going to good season. I am excited to hear buxton comments during race
My first Indianapolis 500 was Mario Andretti in 1969.
A fantastic trio selected by FOX! I can't wait for this season of my beloved Indycar to start. LEZZ GO!
Absolutely love the T Bell ohhhhhh! With massive save oh shunt
Will is going to be like if you finish first on the last lap that means you are the winner of the race 😂
Im hyped. Love you all!
First year I'll be a bigger Indycar fan than F1 LFG 🎉
Wow - fantastic - will was great on the f1 grid…..Indy really raising the bar -
I've been a fan of Will since hearing him do GP2. This is a huge addition to the crew.
I'm surprised to see Will joining IndyCar, as I’ve always thought of him as more of an F1 figure. That said, I believe he’ll bring a refreshing perspective to the broadcasts and might even attract some new European fans to the series. I'm an Indycar fan and my wife is more F1, and she loves Will. She's delighted with this news.
Fox needs to make sure we can watch races on demand after they air. Whenever I use the FOX Sports app it only seems to show what is happening live. You can't go back and see what has happened prior. If not, it would be a huge downgrade from Peacock.

I love this lineup, but I wish there was a Car Chief or Engineer to bring a technical aspect to the booth.
Buxton!!!🏁🏎🏎🏎🏎🏎🏎🏎🏎🏎
Oh boy. No more Diffy yelling at me.😅
IndyCar is the best open wheel racing on the planet the relative evenness of the cars ensures a far more competitive environment for the drivers to truly have a closer to even fair competition amongst themselves. I think Will should enjoy the openness of the teams and drivers dialogue as well.

Congrats on the employment, Hinch.
Townsend and Hinch really don't like each other 😅 but they have to put on a happy face in public 😂
What’s happening with Leigh Diffey?
He stayed with NBC. IndyCar is switching from NBC to Fox.
Hinch.. you missed one question.
Can they not have Podium Trailer for the Road course and small Tracks .... some tracks just don't have proper Podium.
Willy B!
YESSSSSS!!!
I hope David Land sees this.
I tried to watch Indy car last year and it just wasn't as fulfilling because I didn't understand or see any of the storylines so I'm excited to hear that being a focus this year.
Can FOX add fuel gages to the graphics?
Too bad that those of us living in Hinch's home country are once again being denied INDYCARS. I first watched the series before it was called INDYCARS and was absolutely thrilled watching Michael and Little Al as well as others fight it out. Next year your can add Daly
Can we get Steve Matchett back with Will? Steve did such a great job with F1 back in the day.
thank u for taking will from f1tv, and yes will the race starts when the green flag is waved
I wouldn't mind if Buxton and Bell took AR's place on the pod.
Hope they keep kevin lee as a pit lane reporter/backup play to play, he was good after diffey got moved
Will!?! Wow!😅
Bring on St Pete!
It's a shame that I can't buy Indycar in my country they should end exclusives, like F1TV did in a lot of countries.
damn I was hoping we were done with Bell...
Is the Cauldron of Hate coming to Fox?
