Silly Songs With Lehrer
Приєднався 7 вер 2020
Hello! Welcome to “Silly Songs With Lehrer” Here I’ll post covers with how to play most of Tom Lehrer’s whole discography to all the Tom Lehrer fans out there who are interested. I shall mention for these tutorials I learn by ear, but try to stay as true to the original song. I have no training in sheet music, so please don’t ask if I have the sheet music, and please don’t get all butthurt, because my renditions are probably not note for note. If you can deal with that please consider subscribing and stay tuned for TL stuff to come.
Feel free to buy me a coffee, so I can stay awake while recording and editing these videos. It’s optional, but appreciated!

My Home Town: Tom Lehrer (Pitch Corrected)
This is amazing! I always though there was only a recording of Copenhagen, this is really a gem.
Thanks for watching!
Ahh, he changed a few words here and there in his songs.
Wow! This is a real gem!
I can totally hear Danny Kaye influences in Lobachevsky
After all he was Toms particular idol since child birth😉
I knew he liked Danny Kaye, and his songs influenced his writing, but I did not know he idolized Kaye from an early age. I loved Danny Kaye movies when I was a kid.
@@geraniaceae4470 I was just making a joke with his song Lobachevsky cause he mmentions that in the introduction lol
He is wonderful.
Indeed he is :)
I want to learn piano for the sole purpose of playing his songs
@@HashBrowns-z77 That’s what I did as well as other various songs I like lol. If you need any help on songs, feel free to lmk and I’d be happy to help :)
I keep uncovering more fabulous gems on this channel! I sing along with his songs several times a week because he really lifts my mood! I was also a Dr. Demento fan decades ago, and even won a teeshirt on his show. Wish I still had it!
I can always count on you for uploading something new about Tom Leher's music. ❤ Thank you so much.
@@geraniaceae4470 That means a lot! Thank you so much😊😊😊
Watching this one day after the loss of the great Maggie Smith… 😢
I am a huge fan and really enjoy these obscure interviews!!
"Always predict the Worst & you'll be hailed as a Prophet." Tom is The Jesus of Depravity! 😂🙏🏻
0:24 "What do you call this type of humor?" "The American term is 'sick'" 🤣
2:58 "I never thought (The Elements) would spread...like Herpes NOT Ebola." 😂⚛️
We completely understand! Mental health is an especially important thing, and breaks are necessary. Hope you have an amazing break!
Thanks Ren! Great hearing from you
have a nice break!!! no honest lehrer fan would ever get down on you for that. excited to see more when you get back!
Appreciate it :)
Sorry for the constant “ummms”, stuttering, pauses, and other stuff like that😭
Kenneth was gods give to a chat show host no chat show host could have had a better guest .He was full of funny stories and quick repartee. And MP let him .flow. He was unique a complete, one off we shall not see his like again.its sad that a man who give so many people so much laughter and joy with his performance s on tv film and radio couldn't find happiness In his private life He of all people deserved that
Holly $hit I wish to sound this lucid at 85!
@@super266 He had such a captivating voice
Splendid playing with the 88 string guitar
Haha! Might be difficult for this one. The Folk Song Army should be easier to do😉
Like what I do? Buy me a coffee so I can stay awake while recording and editing these videos! Appreciate it! buymeacoffee.com/tlsongs
Glad to see there are still some Tom Lehrer fans left. I used to listen to him since I was like 12, and I memorized all of his songs.
Me too! I’m currently working on more TL Covers, and hopefully will have it out Monday :)
I remember being thrilled that Tom Lehrer loved Gilbert and Sullivan, because in the 1960s 70s they were regarded as horribly out of fashion, and ditto Noel Coward. Suddenly it was OK to like them again.
This is my favorite song 😭💗
One of my favorites too😁 More to come!

I learned about him and either 1967 or 1968 and I've loved him ever since. So hysterical!
Sounds fantastic!!
Thank you!!! Did over 100 takes I believe lol
@@TLSongsssVery well worth it! Thanks!
He was such a funny man and made everyone smile. Never to be forgotten 🇬🇧
An elderly friend of mine who had a Monsignor relative and staff in Winnipeg, Manitoba took the record out to play for them on a visit. They were highly entertained by the Vatican Rag.
there's an active Tom Lehrer group on Facebook
There's another part where he explains that people mistake his status to be professor and explains the difference between his title and an actual professor.
That’s right. It’s been uploaded before which is why I haven’t upload it
@@TLSongsssYou should put them together and put notes of where the stitching occurs.
@@qwmx Maybe! I’ve just seen it posted by countless users, so there’s no point I think.
@@TLSongsss So that way they know it's from this interview.
"I aim for the stars and sometimes hit London." Great razor sharp humor, and thank you for uploading this interview.
@@geraniaceae4470 Thank you for listening :)
Never in my life did I think that I'd see new footage of Tom singing. Thanks for uploading!
@@andrewbuckley1675 I never thought so either. Let’s keep our hopes up that more and more keep on coming. Don’t thank me Thank @hugesnack. They’re the one who found it
too bad there’s a watermark on the recording
@@bromhead Better than nothing
@@TLSongsss indeed
What?😭
💋
Huge thanks to @hugesnack for finding this and sending it to the Tom Lehrer discord. I take no credit for finding this.
So sad to think that every one of these wonderful talents is now dead. So good we have You Tube to remember them.
@@andyosb Tom Lehrer’s still alive at 96
@@TLSongsss Oh, that's good. Sorry I wrote him off! 😉
God knows we miss him, oh how we miss him.
Genius❤
There's an episode of this that can be streamed from BBC UK, Season 1 episode 6 Kenneth. If anyone in the UK can rip it, that would be good. I tried uing VPN, but that site detected that. I think in this episode Tom plays "I got it from Agnes" (basing it off a video where he performs it and you can see the clothes, scenery and the host's face).
@@qwmx You cool if I share this?
I am in the UK and so I went to BBC iPlayer to see this episode (season 1 ep 6) you mention. Sadly it is not the full episode of that interview, but a collection of the interviews from the few times that Kenneth Williams has been a guest on Parkinson. :(
@@grahamparker7861 Ahh darn. I appreciate you for trying. Means a lot :)
@@TLSongsss I suggested a way to rip it, you don't think I would've done it if that was the case? 😂
@@grahamparker7861DAMN IT! Oh well. Such is life.
I remember the excellent match of Jimmy Reid v Kenneth Williams , Jimmy Reid won its great television
First heard An Evening Wasted with Tom Lehrer in 1958 Hilarious!
That wouldn’t be possible. “An evening wasted” came out in 1959
One of the best. Long may he endure. Keep on insulting the smug Tom.
Sadly missed, but never forgotten. Thanks Kenneth
The essence of Parkinson's success is here plain to see. He asks a quick question and lets the guest flow. The likes of Kenneth Williams and Barry Humphries are excellent examples of how Parkie was a success.
In a way Parkinson is like a psychotherapist, they ask a question and let their patients talk.
williams is such a vile man
