Since I've found my old family album, with a few photos even older than 100 years, I have this idea of creating my own family album. I really want to use my grandpa's old camera and maybe even try to use some expired black and white film, to some kind of imitate the imperfections which can be found while looking at those old shots and of course add something from myself. I'm really looking forward to get this project started. I mean to document the life and look of our family like we used to? It may actually come out really awesome

I just thrifted a Kodak Advantix f600 from my local antique store for about 10 and am considering ordering some expired film from eBay to play with after I call around to see what places are still developing APS film. I wanted to do a little research and should’ve before to decide if it was worth the impulse buy or not. And it being an intro camera for my vintage camera collection, I think it’s a fair beginner camera since I’m unfamiliar with point and shoot and really the photography world period. I really love and enjoy vintage quality photos. The quality may not be ideal to most who enjoy photography now, but I love the resolution and exposure depths you get in vintage cameras. So for me, everything about the way these photos came out convinced me to play with the point and shoot cameras and risk it. I’m in it for the experimentation of vintage photography anyways, and I think point and shoots are great to learn as a beginner vintage camera fan. If you or anyone have any vintage cameras or type of film I should eventually look into I’d love suggestions! Real excited to play with my Kodak f600

Panos are great, and not a gimmick. Contax TVS I has this feature and I love it! Totally different and more interesting aspect ratio.

Welcome to the Pentax 67 club, got two of them. Easy to carry around if you get a good strap.

My ADHD brain has me up way too late going down a rabbit hole that started out with best film developers to buy in 2024 & has led me to the Pentax 67. Already loving this camera. This is gonna be dangerous!

That Nikon book! I actually really enjoy reading the stories of design behind the Nikon cameras. There’s a blog on the official Nikon website called The Thousand and One Nights that goes deep into their different cameras

Bro such a solid point when it comes to looking at IG and how easily it is to fall into the trap of comparison. When I look t phonebooks, I just lose myself in the images, the texture, and the stories. I remove myself and become inspired.

There’s another excellent resource… Libraries! You can look at those expensive monographs for free (if they have it, but most libraries can loan from other ones at no cost to you). Here in the Uk most local libraries have remainder / old stock days where they give books away, usually for a donation rather than a fixed price. I’ve gone away with armfuls of books before, much to the chagrin of my better half (more books? Great! Where are you going to put them😅). Support your local library…. Once they’re gone they’re gone. Sorry to waffle on… I love libraries.
