I simply make video essays, rankings and discussions on Games I'm passionate for. I'm no reviewer nor do I care to be.
Hitman Deserves your Attention (2024)
As I was scrambling for ideas, figuring out how to convince people to play Hitman, I came to the conclusion that I should show you an example of just one mission I cleared recently, and let that speak to its appeal, or its detriment, depending on your tastes. Before I do that though, I need to clear up what exactly this new Hitman series is, because it’s been a huge confusing mess to everyone but Hitman vets. There was a lot of publisher miss-management and greed at play before it got cleared up in recent years.

I don’t know if it’s my MGS fan bias kicking in, or the fact I’m still coming down from the high of the surprise MGS Delta trailer that premiered at the Xbox Showcase, but I’m getting less and less concerned about this remake as we become more exposed to its contents.....

#mgs #metalgearsolid At the time of writing this script, I have no idea what angle I’m choosing to approach Metal Gear Solid 1 from. All I know is, Metal Gear Solid 1 is constantly popping into my head recently. And I think I’m beginning to understand why. It’s not just because it’s a timeless classic and my favourite MGS game (spoiler for my ranking I guess), or because of its hauntingly beaut...

#mgs #mgs5 #mgs3 #kojima MGS5 is a hard game to love, for every step forward in improving what came before, there were 10 steps back in what they chose to sacrifice to achieve it. I've compiled all my ramblings into one little video so I can help others and myself understand how I truly feel about the last mainline entry.

#darksouls #darksoulsremastered When I made the Bloodborne video, it finally reignited the fire that burnt out from playing too much Elden Ring last year. The sheer size of that game made me not want to continue once I completed it. But now I was ready to get back into a soul’s game and was very tempted to just replay Bloodborne. Thankfully I decided against it in the end and chose to finally g...

Hunt became of the few recent games to actually hook me. It wasn't a phase or a trend that I latched onto, but an actually refreshing experience that keeps me coming back. It may be the reason I look beyond the flaws it has and choose to focus on what this game accomplishes in spades, wiping the floor of the modern shooter market. Is Metal Gear Solid Worth Continuing?
Переглядів 24 тис.2 роки тому
If a franchise that has gone on for 34 years, holds countless titles with decent to phenomenal quality, explored plenty of avenues and left a beloved legacy, is it worth digging it out of the grave for one last hurrah? Or will that only harm a series that has a high bar for quality? Supposing it does continue, what direction is the best course of action?

Metal Gear Solid Mega-Tribute (Chronological Order)
The story, sound design and atmosphere of the original, with gameplay improvements from MGS5, and upgraded but faithful designs for the characters, weapons and locations. That's literally all I ask. And up until now these developers seem to have done a great job. The game also doesn't look like it will have any modern day woke politics in it. So please, PLEASE, Konami, at this point, you only have one job: do not screw this up for everyone.
Story is a mumbo jumbo soup of cliches. Ridiculous. Gameplay is great.
you sound as if Alan Partridge were a Gen Z vidya nerd
Whoooooooo?
It happened A MGS 3 remake happened
Loved every minute of the 565 hours put into this game.
It's good but it's the Worst Kojima game I've ever played.
I only hate MGSV. What a pos, a spit in the face to all fans. My rating is 0/10.
There's a theory that you're playing as chico who was made to think he's the medic and that there's 2 doubles the medic being Ishmael and chico being venom and the medic being another big boss double like we're both big boss at the end but then again it could just be a bunch of rambling of a mad man that just stuck to the wall
I am a DIEHARD MGS fan. Honestly, the only way I'd love to see it continue is games that already exist within the lore that we havent seen. For example, the original version of Rising between 2/4 that shows Raiden becoming a miserable drunk, traveling to Alaska to learn from a shaman man, raiding Area 51, getting captured, becoming the Cyborg then getting BBs body. Or a WW2 game with The Boss. A Grey Fox game etc. 4 was a conclusive ending for all our characters IMO. I dont want to see our favotir MGS characters dragged back up on stage just for the sake of it and to continue the lore forward. Just fill in the gaps with the stuff thats already there.
By the time I'd finished with MGSV, I pretty much absolved myself of the need to judge it. It's a mess by any measure. But even as a mess, it's astonishing in its polished gameplay, and its ambitious, groundbreaking innovation. In a way, it's two very different games, one that offers the experience of perfecting its challenges, and one that offers utter freedom to experiment and just play around with the incredible variety of toys. A true sandbox, where you can play along with the make-believe, or throw it away in favor of doing whatever you want. I'm an immersion fan, so my approach was more linear and goal-oriented, but in that, I clearly missed out on some of the fun. Some game reviewers who see goal-oriented gameplay as the only option thought that, once they mastered the game, it lost its edge. But I think this comes down to the familiar dynamic of players choosing to optimize the fun out of the game. MGSV isn't repetitive. Players are. As for the story, Kojima has definitely become a self-indulgent writer, but I don't particularly dislike that. He seems to have a specific process. He dreams up random ideas and images, and then loosely integrates them into his narrative. In that, he reminds me of David Lynch more than anyone. Sure, there's a lot of monologuing and pontificating in the script of MGSV, and some of it comes at the cost of characterization. But I try to focus more on what a piece like this is trying to do, rather than what I think it should be doing. I'm not so worried about what it isn't, but what it's trying to be. That's not to say I think it's a perfect story. It suffered enormously from cut content, dangling plot threads, etc. And ultimately, I don't thing Kojima's writing process could ever produce a tight, coherent story anyway. That's not the goal. Like Death Stranding, I think MGSV was meant to be a collection of impressions, themes, and ideas all meant to loosely coalesce in the minds of the players. It's deliberately inexact. That doesn't mean it couldn't be a bit less rambling, of course. Kojima always rambled. MGS1 was the first game I ever skipped a few bits of dialog on, as those codec scenes just went on and on. The guy could use an editor, but one that really gets all he's trying to express. But I think starting with MGS2, these games have been frustrating players all in exactly the same way, in that they weren't enough like the last game. I think that's by design. I can't imagine Kojima hadn't intended to piss off players with Raiden. In fact, I can't help suspect that Raiden was originally going to be a woman, and that Konami refused to allow it. So instead, he did one better, replacing the macho Solid Snake with a bishonen. I mean, Raiden sure has some child-bearing hips, is all I'm saying. I can't imagine that wasn't to some extent deliberate. And it folds directly into the game's weird meta-themes. So Kaz and Ocelot being very different characters from previous games seems of a piece with that tendency. As the great Federico Fellini used to say, "Studios always want to produce my last film." The same often goes for audiences. Everyone thinks they want the same thing again. But that gets old way faster than we give it credit for. So of course MGSV has its flaws. I don't think it would have killed Konami to give it another six months to finish. Given the game's enormous success even in its present form, I imagine there may be some regret there. The decision to move away from AAA games and into the far more lucrative, far less resource-heavy world of casual gaming seems reasonable. But Konami's lack of grace in the way they handled Kojima's team made clear that money wasn't the priority. It looked more like a cheap power flex to me. And with the success of Death Stranding, I'd say Kojima's merry band of game developers have the last laugh. But I think it's impossible to separate the problems stemming from the halted production, or from Kojima's weird writing process, from the actual intended creation. And ultimately, I think we waste our time trying. Too much criticism is built around the idea that there's a perfect version of a thing in potentia, and we are somehow performing a service by pointing out how the existing version fails to live up to it. But this can be a waste of time, and a way of dwelling on disappointment rather than appreciation. It's much easier to talk about what's wrong than what's right. But I think with a thing like MGSV, we can miss the good by focusing on the bad. I prefer to take it as a whole, to not look on the missing chapters or cut characters as holes in the finished product, just to see what I got as its own discreet object that was more than worth my time, my praise, and my continued contemplation. If I step back far enough, MGSV was one of the best gaming experiences of my life. I don't need to qualify that with critiques, warranted or not. I don't need to second guess the game it could have, or should have been. I'm better off experiencing the game I got, as I continually unravel its layers and find new, interesting meanings.
Clown suit is clearly superior to all other suits. It gives you ability to hold new bat item without looking suspicious and catwalk in paris is no longer trespassing zone.
V had an absurd amount of potential and it ended up just being a lot of fluff without much actual substance.
Story was great and made a whole lot of sense, you were not liking how you want it to be. I played this game and it was about Zero and Ocelot evil plans, (had nothing to do with Venom Snake nor Kaz nor Naked Snake nor Huey being evil). MGS :Solid Snake Story was the same point, Liquid, Ocelot and Zero setting a new destruction by messing with the Solid Snake, Campbell and Hal Emmerich.
mgsV is not a sequel to mgs4, it is a sequel to peace walker. therefore, it is not mgs5 it is mgsV where V is the letter not the roman numeral for 5.
By that logic, I could say that MGS3 is a prequel to Metal Gear 1 (1987). So why have a '3' in the title if it's not a direct sequel to Metal Gear Solid 2? Calling it MGSV just means it has multiple meanings. It's a reference to 'V has come too',but also the Roman numeral '5' because although it follows the events of Peace Walker, it is the 5th mainline entry of Metal Gear Solid, not a psp spinoff like Peace Walker. You can call it whatever you want, Kojima likes his titles with multiple meanings. Like how 'Solid' in Metal Gear Solid (1998) is not just a reference to Solid Snake, but also the switch from 2D sprites to 3D polygons, hence 'solid'.
*reading the title and giving the video a like before i hear one word*
Hahah well I hope the video itself lived up to that like.
Love ur video! Just why is the video so dark in brightness?
Thank you for the kind words. Yes sorry, I thought it was a rendering problem so I tried re-rendering a few times, turns out it was a problem with my recording software. I'll have it fixed for next time :) Thanks for stopping by.
Good Video Dead End Alley. Now get out of there!
I will list 7 reasons that cause you to stop or partially stop moving, to showcase that the pacing and flow within the MGS3 maps is directly tied to its gameplay systems. - Being forced to stop and go into FPV to shoot a gun - Being forced to stop moving to crouch/go prone, as there is no crouch walking in MGS3 - Pause to heal - Pause to change camo - Pause to go into your backpack - Pause to eat food - Pause to go into the radio/Codec screen Seeing how they already modernized the acts of moving and shooting (there is crouch walking now and you can shoot while moving in 3rd person), I'm afraid of what modernizing the other 5 systems is gonna do to the pacing and flow of the game, and how much smaller/easier to get through the levels are going to be.
Couldn't have said it better myself. Very well explained. That's why I'm worried. And I'd be even more concerned if they tried to modernise MGS1.
@@dead_end_alley coming from the near future, it seems like my biggest fears are getting realized. They even kept the loading screens and made 3 significant changes that will disrupt the pacing of the game dramatically: 1) Moving and shooting in third person 2) Crouch walking 3) Instantly changing camo on the fly without any animations involved This is very worrisome because they are seemingly not even trying to compensate for these huge changes with expanded-upon maps and massively upgraded enemy AI. I went from cautiously optimistic to concerned now. Please don't let this be just another Twin Snakes situation.
I like this style of video, Mr. Metal Gear Solid: Delta.
BTW, to add to your Hitman fun: now you discovered how to place items, try placing a flask of nitroglycerin on a doorknob where a NPC passes. Looney Tunes type of stuff.
Haha I have to try that now! Thanks for the tip 👍 I love that I never run out of new things to try out.
I wanna play this soon but i do have the next best thing. Hitman blood money for the PS2. maybe i could use that for practice or something😂
Blood Money is fantastic (and still my favourite) but it's got the opposite problem of the new hitman trilogy. It's not hand-holding at all. There's a lot to figure out by yourself, so don't feel bad if you're really stuck. No shame in looking up a guide or too. 👍
I discovered Hitman with Blood Money's advertising in videogames magazines back in 2005 and '06. While I love WOA, I hope it stops needing online connection. Contracts is my favourite!
Yeah the DRM is an unnecessary drag on what is such a quality game. It was hard to praise these games for years while they kept making business decisions like that.
Adding this to my watch later to chill to late night, appreciate you posting
Once again you're one of my biggest supporters. Can't thank you enough Jacuzzi. Hope this video will be worth it. 🤞

...The Boss. ... she looks like J from J and Silent Bob. .....😐
Bro graphical fidelity has definitely lost its impact you hit the nail on the head there, graphics are so unimportant in my eyes nowadays i just want finished games with fleshed out mechanics, i believe the gaming industry has been starved of that for some time now with triple a studios thinking graphics is all that matters and that is the completely wrong approach.
1:46 Hopefully move enemy's body is not slow like this.
MGS was of the first PS1 games I ever played when I was 4 YO. I love it so much. For me, it's the best experience in that console and Solid Snake has been of my favourite characters since then.
You have pretty much the exact same connection with the game as mine then. That's awesome man. 😁
@@dead_end_alley Also last year I finally got a Solid Snake figure. A McFarlane one from 1999. I always wanted a toy of Snake but in those years where I live was extremely expensive or not even avaible, plus international purchases were still very far for my family.
Great video. The main issue with TPP for me is that the twist happens and then the game just... ends. They do absolutely nothing with the twist and I would have loved to see Big Boss' story from the moment he left on that motorcycle until 1995. He did so many cool things during those 11 years. We would also probably see his falling out with Venom at some point. Such wasted potential... Maybe in a hypothetical "MGS6"? Time will tell.
No room for Hideo!!??
Poor xbox that had to use a multi platform game at their showcase?!
It needs to come out in 2024. 2025 is for grand theft auto 6
I hope they expand some of the areas..probably not though..I took a half day from work back in 2005 to play the original..such a great game..
Hopefully they make surviving in the jungle much more difficult along with much faster stamina drain. I’ve played every difficulty of the original and I rarely ever needed to heal or eat.
Im still concerned. This is STILL Konami and i wont put it past them fuck SOMETHING up. Not untill i see the reviews and look at some serious gameplay will i consider picking it up.
Id like to note that the 3ds version, crap as it is, also added crouch walking & over the shoulder aiming & it doesnt break the game whatsoever. Other things like, the wall hug being the front facing cling mgsv style, or being able to turn onto you back to aim behind you while crawling are just animation changes effectively. Its still the same wall hug, & rolling onto back just looks smoother that spinning 180 degrees on your belly lol but they still are both just imemdiate snap aiming
My only disapointment is that it is going to be 1:1 recreation when I was expecting 0'75:1 or something. Keep the exact same story and cutscenes and everything but give us bigger areas for it felt more like MGSV.
I highly recommend you all check out the interview with David Hayter and producer Noriaki Okamura here, it's a fascinating watch. ua-cam.com/video/TNR-mXO_Kik/v-deo.html
you should watch a recent interview of the game titled "Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater - Official Xbox Games Showcase Deep Dive" from GameSpot. They interviewed the series producer and I think you'd be interested in it.
Mo-capped games back in the day have held up Very well. Real people provided the skeleton, so the characters will always move more realistically than even the best animators could do.
in the recent interview with the director he confirmed the green filter from the og is back with a toggle option
They are going to make it so you can play it in the old way and in the modern 3th person way
They should have remade the games in order of release, starting at MG1, so they can iron out the kinks before they get to the fan favourite. Also, i really hope its not 1:1, the PS2 limitations on map size seems really dumb for a current game.
I used to think like that too but MGS3 being remade first makes sense because it's chronologically the first game, which would be a great entry point for new fans, it's also not as outdated as MGS1 so it's not as difficult to bring up to today's quality, unlike MGS1 which would be very hard to recreate properly. It's also a safer bet to test the waters and see if fans react strongly to this remake, giving them confidence to tackle the more ambitious options.
The only thing concerning about Konami is SH2 Remake
Do you think they should add a green/yellow filter to match the original?
they confirmed its an option.
10 years after TPP? O_O
I’m disappointed I wanted Metal Gear Survive 2 smh
I’m with ya. This latest trailer helped ease my doubts. Especially after seeing that meh Silent Hill 2 gameplay reveal… it’s clear 2 completely different teams with different standards are in charge of each game
Have you watched the interview David Hayter had with the producer on MGS Delta? Its really eye opening and konami seems to come off as very understanding with what fans want.
I did. But after I made this video. Loved the interview, it was shockingly humble and down to earth. David Hayter doing the marketing despite not recording new lines is such a legend move too.
@@dead_end_alley I had the exact same thought and was worried initially but man that interview was truly something else. I think its safe to assume that it should be in good hands :)
