Colo I Suva - Forest Park & Waterfalls | Fiji
Exploring Colo I Suva forest park (pronounced tholo-ee-soo-va),
a stunning natural oasis located approx 20 mins from Suva, the heart of Fiji.
This lush tropical rainforest offers a peaceful and magical escape with hiking trails, waterfalls, and lots of natural swimming holes to explore.
I stayed at the wonderful Eco Lodge across from the park, and was privileged to be accompanied by two beautiful local guides during my walk through the park, they even guided me back to the path when I took the wrong turn!

    I recently came across your video about Navua, and it really resonated with me. Thank you for sharing your journey; it felt like I was part of it. I found myself in tears as I learned that my biological father is a Danford, which makes me wonder about my family connections. I’ve never been to Fiji, and each time I’ve asked my father if I could visit, he has said, "Not right now." As I navigate my 30s, I have a deep desire to learn about my family, my culture, and my heritage. This experience brings up a lot of emotions for me, and I’m hoping to find ways to explore and understand my roots, despite the challenges. Your story has inspired me to keep seeking that connection.

    Wow! You bring back childhood memories. Use to go fishing on that wharf on a Sunday. That extension arm was built there to accommodate the bigger cement ships from Golden Bay Cement. My friends father was the local harbor master and was also a boat builder, we use to help him sometimes if the weather was no good, often we would take to boats out go sailing, or cruising or cruise over to the other side and go hiking over the sand dunes.

    We used to climb the western side as kids. No chain, no track. There is an old free climbing trail on the northern face too. The rock used to be much bigger but the power that were blasted the southern shoulder from Paritutu just over 100 years ago. Before the power station was made by reclaiming Moturoa Beach there used to be a left and right hand break coming into the bay at the base of the main breakwater.

      We went here in August 2022 and did both the reef shark snorkeling and the bull shark dive. The reef sharks are pretty harmless. On the bull shark dive, they take you down to a spot about 12m down where you crouch behind a small wall. They have a feeding station in front of the wall which attracts the sharks and boy are they impressive. They keep any wayward sharks at bay with these metal poles so we felt totally safe down there. Well worth it if you get the chance.

    How did you go about getting permission to fly your drone? I'm coming over from the UK in Feb, I here NZ is very strict with drone law!

    • @AlldyF
      @AlldyF 2 роки тому

      Droning in NZ can be a bit tricky, but as long as you follow the rules you’ll be good. Best thing to do is to download the airshare app - this will give you areas where you can or can’t fly and any requirements you may need. also what I do is always go to the local council’s website and find their drone rules - I normally follow this with a call to ensure I’m ok to fly in the area. Last bit is go to aviation.govt.nz and check whether you need additional permissions or not :) , hope you have an amazing time flying your drone in nz
