"My Month in the USA" - Alan Chi's Amazing English Speech -- Grandma, Church, Google, San Francisco!
We welcome your comments and suggestions for Alan to improve his English and Public Speaking. Please put them in the Comment Area below the video. Thank you!
==================================
Speech Title: "One Month in the USA"
Speaker: Alan Chi (from Taiwan), Newphew of Rita Chi (Albert Mo's wife)
Date: October 31, 2024, Lunch Time (The last day of Alan's stay in CA)
Location: Union City, California, USA
==================================
Speech Script: Structure (OBC = Opening-Body-Closing) and Times:
-----------------------------------------------
Opening (0.5 min)
"Good afternoon, Grandma, Uncle Albert, and Aunt Rita! Today, I’d like to share with you my experiences living in the U.S. for a month. It’s been a wonderful time filled with family, new adventures, and lots of learning. Each day brought something unique, allowing me to appreciate the beauty of this diverse country."
----------------------------------------------
Body 1 (0.5 min):
"On weekdays, I often went for walks with my grandma after breakfast and lunch, enjoying the fresh air and our conversations. We also studied the Bible and prayed together before bedtime, which not only deepened our bond but also strengthened our faith in God. Every Saturday, we went to church, where we met friends and engaged in community activities. It had become a meaningful routine for us. These simple moments have brought us closer and made me feel my grandma’s deep care and love for me."
----------------------------------------------
Body 2 (0.5 min):
"In addition to spending time with my grandma, I’ve had the opportunity to help my uncle with his new house in Sacramento. We’ve spent several days organizing and painting his house. It’s been rewarding to assist him with this project, and I also learned a lot about house decoration, gaining skills that I can use in the future!"
----------------------------------------------
Body 3 (0.5 min):
"During my stay, I’ve also been practicing driving, which has been both exciting and a bit nervous. But my uncle has been patient and supportive, giving me tips to improve. I feel more confident and more comfortable each time I get behind the wheel, all thanks to my uncle’s encouragement and support!"
----------------------------------------------
Body 4 (1 min):
"One of the highlights of my month was visiting Google. Thanks to my friend, Zack, I had the chance to visit there. It was an eye-opening experience to have visited Google headquarters. I was so impressed with the innovation happening there, and the environment was awesome. I even got to experience some of the amazing facilities available to employees, like playing beach volleyball, tennis, and billiards. After the tour, I enjoyed a great meal at Google cafeteria. There were so many types of food to choose from, catering to all tastes and preferences. I also went to Google store to buy some souvenirs for my friends in Taiwan. The visit inspired me to think more about technology and how it shapes our future in unimaginable ways."
----------------------------------------------
Body 5 (1 min):
"Another memorable experience was exploring San Francisco on my own. I took public transportation to the city and spent the day sightseeing and enjoying the vibrant atmosphere. I visited many iconic landmarks, including Lombard Street, Chinatown, and Fisherman’s Wharf, and so on. I also tried some amazing local foods like Super Duper Burger and a sourdough with the soup inside, and I even visited the original Blue Bottle Coffee shop. It was a fun adventure that gave me a sense of independence and a real taste of San Francisco."
----------------------------------------------
Closing (0.5 min):
"Finally, I want to express my gratitude to my grandma, my uncle and my aunt for opening your home to me. Your warmth and generosity have made my stay unforgettable. I will always treasure these memories. Thank you all for giving me so much love and showing me the true meaning of family dynamics! I truly appreciate everything you’ve done for me during this amazing month."

莫老師您好~好高興看到您的視頻,對從零開始學習的我是一個很好的教學影片也受益良多🙏 請教莫老師ea、e...e、e的發音有些老師是教發音標i的音,是有例外字還是什麼情況下該發那個音?對剛學的我這裡就被卡住了😂感謝老師😊 She、we、he就發/i/ read、flea、weak也是發/i/ eve、these、Pete也是發/i/ 感覺好難求老師解答🙏😘
Hi, Thank you for your feedback! 感謝你的分享! DJ 音標 / i: / --> 長母音 "e" -> / i: / Ex: "she", "we", "he" "ea" -> / i: / Ex: "read", "flea", "weak", "beat", "breathe" "e_e" -> / i: / Ex: "eve", "these", "Pete", "feet", "breeze" 當然是有例外! :-( If you are interested, we can have 1:1 lessons (FREE) on Zoom.
