______________
Welcome back to the Loc Journey Realness podcast!
In today’s episode, I got an inside look at what it looks like to go from dark brown hair to the beautiful and complicated intentional ombre blonde with Ashley Major of @TheAestheticsofAshley and owner of Petit Locs Jewelry!
Ashley, a mom of 3, a military wife and a self-maintained DIYer who has been on her loc journey with Sisterlocks for 7 years, shares her entire blonde loc journey from having an allergic chemical reaction, to finding the confidence to take her color processing into her own hands.
Together we delve into the highs and lows of Ashley’s loc color journey, highlighting the importance of in-person loc color consultations, autonomy on your loc journey and recognizing real colorists over everybody else.
This Part 1 episode reminds us that…
📌 Lightening the color of your locs does not always equate to hair loss
📌 There are coloring classes taught by beauty professionals for Sisterlocks/Microlocs DIY’ers
📌 Everyone’s hair will not respond to the chemical coloring process in the same way
📌 You can have a bad chemical reaction even if a LICENSED COSMETOLOGIST applies the color.
So tune in, get inspired and let’s embark on Ashley’s blonde Sisterlocks journey together!

      Loc count once u go into micros isnt has relevant as compared to traditional imo. Because they are so small 300 on your head looks like 500 another. U factor in density and head size and circumference of the loc (thicker or thin micros)

    Back in the 90's, when I was a teenager, those butt-length braids were to look cute, to toss your hair over your shoulders, and if you were listening to Grunge, Metal, etc., to really step up your headbanger game. There was never any discussion about that style where, for the first 5 days, you can't touch your head, you can't put the braids up in a ponytail, you can't sleep lying down-- cuz you have a tension headache--- being a "protective style".

  • @SkyeID
    @SkyeID 3 місяці тому

    The protective style argument, "Don't be comin' for my protective styles because I have been wearing them for decades." I mean, if your braids are so tight that you have scalp bumps all along your hairline, followed by snatched out edges, how protective is it?

    Great video. I’m mid 40s and and started graying around the perimeter a good ten years ago. I hate it. I had dreads for 20 years and colored them with henna allllll the time mostly concentrated on the ever present white strands. Frustrated by them I combed out the locs so I could dye and cover these pesky grays. Colored my loose hair pink but the white edges came back rapidly and I slapped the color right over them. Anyway, I’ve grown the pink out and started using henna again last month. See, strugglingggggg! Now planning to microloc journey but if I can’t henna them …idk. Yours looks good to me but why do I see mine as so ugly.

It's like they play with their children's hair for their own amusement! Never mind that relaxers could cause cancer. Never mind that those lace front wigs with "layed and slayed" baby hairs could snatch out their kids' edges. Never mind that their infant could get traction alopecia because those cornrows are too tight. It just looks sooo cute! *smh*

    Hello I have low density hair as well I am 3 months in with my micro locs, was wondering do you use any kind of moisturizer or anything for for your scalp?

    • @nicolelocqueen
      @nicolelocqueen 4 місяці тому

      Whenever my scalp felt dry in the beginning, I would put grease on my scalp. Not a lot. Just enough to relieve that area. Because your locs haven’t locked yet, try to avoid using products that have the potential to loosen your hair.

    I started going grey in my 30s. Everyone around me responded to it negatively. Friends called me old. It had an impact on me. 2 years ago, I got locs. I had a bad perception of my hair as well. I thought it just didn’t grow. It was falling out and I had no idea how to take care of it. Getting locs changed my perception of my hair and my greys. My loctician told me that people pay to get their hair grey like mine. I kept it grey for 2 years. I fell in love with my hair. Last month, I dyed the ends black and left the roots grey. I love it. I kinda have the best of both worlds now.
